Eric Church Loves Your Love in Nashville Concert
Who knew that Eric Church was such a rock star? With his aviator glasses and slightly arrogant attitude, Eric Church played to a sold-out crowd at the Cannery Ballroom last night (March 25) near downtown Nashville. Maybe it was the half-opened shirt and chain necklace that gave him that bad boy image, but nevertheless he had striking confidence onstage. The show mixed both Church's older material, such as "Sinners Like Me," as well as some new songs off his recently released album, Carolina, like "Love Your Love the Most." Before this show, I didn't realize the following that Church has, and seeing the bar packed full of Eric Church T-shirts surprised me. It was evident he didn't let success get to his head however as he stopped to shake hands of some of the fans who were waiting in line to get in the venue.
Carolina combines his classic country voice with some up-tempo party songs and a few slightly heavier ballads. The title track reminds me of Blake Shelton's "Home," while "Smoke a Little Smoke" will surely be a hit for fraternity brothers around the world. However, the chipper love song, "Without You Here," stands out as one of my favorite tracks off the new album. To be honest, I didn't know all that much about Eric Church before the show, but the animated performance last night made me want to go home and put his album on repeat. It has been a while since I've seen the energy and presence that Church had onstage, and it made the show worthwhile.
