Teardrops on Trace Adkins' Microphone?

Posted: March 17th, 2009 at 12:02 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Trace AdkinsIf tough-guy Trace Adkins sheds even one tear, there is absolutely no hope for me. I am totally gonna cry. Adkins told The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville, "I just really hope the emotion doesn't overwhelm me. I hope I can be a professional and get through this thing." He was talking about his upcoming performance of "Til the Last Shot's Fired" on the Academy of Country Music awards on April 5. He'll be backed by the West Point Glee Club. And in describing the tune off his latest album, X, he says the song begs the question, "What if soldiers that are killed in combat or are in this, sort of, limbo and can't rest until there's peace, until the last shot is fired." Damn. I'm practically crying already.

What a good man he is!!!Trace does not just pick a song to sing in a day, or month. He said he had the song Muddy Water in his truck for 18 months. Did you see CMT Crossroads with Trace and 38 special? OMG that CMT Crossroads should be nominated for event of the year!
I have never seen Trace smile so much! Trace’s performance of Muddy Water with 38 special and the choir I heard had the floors shaking!!
When Trace sang You’re Gonna Miss This on the Celebrity Apprentice finale, his wife and two young daughters were in the audience, he said he had to look the opposite way or he would have cried.
When Trace sings he has so much emotion-I believe this is the first time he will sing Till The Last Shots Fired in public. But it will be much more than Trace there will be the Choir from West Point. Trace had to get permission from the Pentagon to have the West Point Choir on his latest CD X.
In the front row will be in the wounded soldiers! Trace spent 10 days in Iraq and Afganistan last year. Going to remote locations to spend time with the troops and perform.
We love you Trace, and there is power in prayer. We will be praying for you!

This performance is going to be, in my opinion, the most awesome event in country music award history, and I mean, any award!
Alison, you will not be the only one crying, if Trace cries during that performance. . .you will be joined by the people in that audience, and those of us sitting in front of our TV sets that night!
This song is one of most awesome songs on Trace’s new album X, and everytime, I hear it, I feel like I am praying for all of those soldiers who died for our freedom, and for peace! When the West Point Choir comes in on the cut on the album, I feel like I am in church, or I want to stop in my tracks and salute those brave soldiers who gave their lives! And there will be those wounded warriors right in front of Trace, and in front of us, and who cannot feel the emotions welling up at that sight?!
I predict an awesome performance, a swelling of emotion, and a standing ovation from that entire audience who witnesses this event! If this performance does not elicit that emotion, or does not get that standing ovation, then those people have to be very numb, I’m sorry to say!
All of us have been waiting for this moment, ever since it was announced that Trace was going to do this, and we are all so proud of him, and there for him!
Trace Adkins Fan Club member and fan of the most special entertainer and greatest person in the world! Love ya, Trace, you are truly the best!

I have listened to this song on the CD dozens of times…
I know it’s coming every time, but I can’t control the emotion. Even when I’m not really listening…when I driving down the road, thinking of something else, when I hear the Glee Club, I almost have to pull over (which is what I had to do the first time I heard it). This is a powerful, moving song.
Trace’s comments are an interesting. “What IF those killed in war could not rest until the last shot is fired, the last prisoner is freed, the last starving person is feed, the last child is returned safely home.”
This past weekend, I attended a Peace Conference at Lander University in Greenwood, SC, and the pursuit of World Peace has been weighing on my heart and mind. Peace is not just about ending war, but it’s a great place to start.
Trace is the most versatile performer in Country Music today and this is the most haunting moving song he has evre recorded. I predict that this will be a performance NO ONE will forget. For me, it is impossible to hear this song and not be moved.
Salute to Trace, to the West Point Glee Club, and to World Peace.

This is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. The first time I heard it on Trace’s X cd I cried. Trace always puts his heart and soul in to every song he sings. This will be an amazing performance with the West Point Glee Club as back up. It will be the performance that brings down the house! Great job Trace!

I can’t wait to see him do this live. It will be one of the best of the night I am sure. Thanks for the heads up… I will have a box of tissues ready.

I am looking forward to listening to it. I love all the music that Trace sings. He is a one of a kind person. When he sang for the troops you could see how much he cared about them…..

What an honor for Trace to be asked to perform this moving and uplifting song, honoring our military men and women who have run the race and fought a good fight in order for the rest of us to enjoy the freedoms we have today. My prayers goes out to you Trace and the West Point Glee Club as you ministry to all with the words and music during the performance. Fan from North Pole.

This will be such an incredibly awesome event! I hope he can deliver the performance he hopes for . . . heaven knows it’ll be tough. Anyone who watches the award show will realize what a huge heart this man has and shares with all of us. Trace has shown his heartfelt support for our troops in so many ways and his fans are so proud of him. Too many in this country have forgotten what tremendous sacrifices earlier generations have made for our freedoms and belittle the equally tremendous sacrifices being made by our armed forces today. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of them.
