Billy Ray Cyrus, Shooter Jennings, Jamey Johnson Among This Week's New Videos
Three bona fide country videos, along with an Americana-country hybrid, showed up and threw themselves on the mercy of the CMT New Video Evaluation Team this week. There are pickup trucks in three of these four videos, and there would have been one in the fourth, if it didn't consist entirely of stage performance footage.
Artist: Billy Ray Cyrus
Video: "Back to Tennessee"

Billy Ray, in conjunction with the Hannah Montana movie, starts out on the beaches of Malibu and -- before you know it -- he's back in his old beat-up pickup truck and happily headed back to his Tennessee home. He's leaving that "town full of users."
Panelists' comments: "I like the song very much." "I wish he would shave that thing on his chin." "There's Marcel and Bucky Covington in Billy Ray's band." "There's a quick shot of Miley [Cyrus] in there."

Director: Ivan Dudynsky
Jamey Johnson and Shooter Jennings sing Johnson's song about where both his name and his sound fit in country music and in country music sections of stores. This is from the upcoming CMT Crossroads episode airing on March 23. Johnson actually smiles once here.

Artist: Rodney Atkins
Video: "It's America"
Director: Eric Welch
Rodney Atkins sings an up-tempo salute to small-town America, with every predictable cliché' (lemonade stand, high school prom) thrown in, along with a new one -- "a Springsteen song." Atkins is an auto mechanic in the video. He debuted this song on the last CMA Awards show.
Panelists' comments: "That's doing well at radio." "That's his boy in there, isn't it?" "That's aimed right at our audience." "Sounds like ‘Goin' Through Hell,' part three."
Artist: Marc Broussard and LeAnn Rimes
Video: "When It's Good"
Director: Christopher Sims
Country chanteuse LeAnn Rimes and big-voiced Americana singer Marc Broussard join forces for a somber duet about romantic trouble on the farm. They have sung duets before, and their voices complement each other. Also, there's some nice steel guitar on this.
Panelists' comments: "That's really different!" "Beautiful song." "I love both of them, but this song doesn't fit Broussard as well as most of his do." "I couldn't tell that they were actually on the set together till the end."
Consensus: Videos by Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson, Rodney Atkins and Billy Ray Cyrus will all debut Monday (March 16). Jennings-Johnson will be in heavy rotation. Videos by Rodney Atkins and Billy Ray Cyrus will be in medium rotation. The Broussard-Rimes video goes into the hold section.

Love the new Billy Ray Cyrus song! Yes that sure is Bucky right behind Billy Ray. It’ll be super cool to see Bucky on the Big Screen when Miley’s movie comes out in April. By the way, Bucky’s got a new single, I Want My Life Back, that should be out around April 6th and a new album coming out in September! Can’t wait to hear his new song!

Loving Billy Ray!! Keep up the great work on your songs!! I can’t get enough of your new song you did in the movie. And you did a great job of it on NBC day time show too. Movie was great. Miley and her Lilly co-star were great in it. Along with every one else. I love Lilly, she is very talented!
