I Can't Get Enough of Buddy and Julie Miller's Written in Chalk
Ever get the feeling you've been missing out on something? Well, that's me today because I've finally found some time to listen to Buddy and Julie Miller's new release, Written in Chalk, and can't get enough of it. The problem is that this is really the first of their music I've heard, so I need to do some serious catching up. Lucky for me, Buddy answers some of my nagging questions in this EPK. I wouldn't usually get so worked up about it, but I hear something special in the thoughtfully written and performed songs this husband and wife make together. Try out my favorite track, "Chalk," and you'll get it. And here's a video of a different version, recorded before the song had a name. Plus, the guest credits on this album are top-shelf. Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, Patty Griffin and Regina and Ann McCrary all contribute harmony vocals. For a limited time, you can listen to Buddy and Julie Miller's Written in Chalk on CMT.com. Just don't wait too long, or you might find yourself feeling left behind.

I have the feeling this blog is especially for me. Thanks for keeping this blog site balanced. Buddy miller is a musical genius. Not only did her tour with Plant/Krauss this year, he won “Artist of the Decade” from No Depression, and was the musical director for last years AMA Honors and Awards show. I’ve been a fan for a long time. To me this is what music is about. Not how many seats you can fill in a stadium..
Good to see you’re catching up with all of today’s music. It’s never too late.

Listened to it a couple of times tonight. If memory serves me correct, I believe “What You Gonna Do Leroy”, the tune featuring Robert Plant, was the one they performed together at the AMA Awards show.

I can’t recall loving an album as much on first listen as I love this CD. I’m especially impressed by the variety of styles. My favorite songs (as of today) are Chalk, Buddy and Emmylou’s duet covering George Jones’s The Selfishness of Man, and two where Julie takes the vocal lead– Don’t Say Goodbye and Long Train. This is the kind of album that makes you remember why you’re a fan of country music.

You’ve must of missed out on about 10-15 years of great music from what I can cyper. What is wrong there in Nashville? If you need more alt-country music to listen to, let me know or read No Depression.

Jeff, most of the bloggers here are definately behind the times, and not up on today’s cutting edge music scene. Maybe one or two, but that’s about it.
Most are more concerned about a Pop Country singers new clothes, or another Pop Country singers hairdo. You know….the important things. (sfip)
