Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson End Up "Somewhere Between Jennings and Jones"
Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson got together for CMT Crossroads, and our first taste of the show is "Somewhere Between Jennings and Jones." I love slow rolling songs, and this one almost crawls along. Johnson's tune has a feel that reminds me of the end of a long night. The words seem to take a little longer to say, and when the guitar lead comes in, some fuzzy memories want to join it. But I think the coolest part is all the different ways Jennings and Johnson find to use the main lyric. CMT Crossroads: Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson premieres March 23 on CMT.

Kevin says:
Shooter is one terrible singer. Jamey is awesome though!
Twangtown7 says:
Kevin…totally agree.
He sure isn’t his dad.
RedMaZ says:
I’m a fan of some of Shooter’s Music and Johnson’s, but this collaboration isn’t working. No groove. They’re just not locked in. Besides that, in a record bin Johnson would be between Waylon Jennings and Jones, not Shooter.
Did you notice the left handed Tele player? It’s still strung like a right handed guitar. .
CountryStofmind says:
Yeah, no kidding, these folks probably have Rascall Flatts haircuts and thing Billy Currington is the second coming
Kevin says:
The only thing i mentioned was his singing, which at least in this video is terrible.
Twangtown7 says:
Red, it IS a righ-handed guitar. He’s just playing it lefty…

Gene says:
whoa whoa whats Currington have to do with this ? last i checked he just had a #1 and you?
RedMaZ says:
Yes I know it’s a right handed guitar. My point being, even though he’s playing left handed, it’s still strung up like a right handed guitar. Unlike Hendrix for example, who also played a right handed guitar left handed, but unlike this person in the video his was strung up left handed. Hendrix - EADGBE. This video guy - EBGDAE. So to a right handed guitar player, not only is he playing it backwards…he’s playing it upside down too. Obviously to this guy it’s no big deal. That’s the way he learned how to play. This is called an observation. You should try it sometime.
richard says:
shooter is the greatest
Levon says:
These guys just went to bat for billy currington, red, so don’t worry. I get what you’re saying. Btw, last I checked pet shop boys had a few number one’s too.
Wilson says:
C’mon, quit your squabbling…. I think it’s awesome that there is still some good music being made by some real musicians that don’t care so much about making hits or sounding perfect all the time. The guitar player with the upside down Tele was a hoot to watch . Just enjoy the show for god’s sake…………………
Blake says:
yall are crazy man.
Shooter has a damn good voice,
I mean listening to his albums, their great.
Shooter and Jamey are the future of country.
They are the real deal.
Rascall flats and kenney chesney are all pop not country
Johnny V says:
A lil write up on the upside down, left handed, rediculously talented guitar player!
Wayd Battle: He’s part Irish… He’s part Indian… He’s all Red-Head. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of an Alabama Baptist preacher. When he was a small boy, the only access he had to a musical instrument was his father’s right-handed guitar; however, he was left-handed, so he just naturally played the guitar upside-down. He started his first band at the age of fourteen, and soon he was working every Tonk, Tank, and Hole-in-the-Wall in West Alabama, and playing Hank, Merle and George, or whatever paid. He saw a lot of cinder-block buildings with gravel parking lots in his early musical career. He’s a Singer… He’s a Picker… He’s a Songwriter. Years of fronting bands across the Southeast and Mid-West has given him the experience to adapt to any situation night after night, and still come across as the “Real Deal” crowd pleaser that he truly is. Wayd has signed with BMG Music as of December 2005. Sony/BMG provides a home for the worlds best and most successful artists and composers. Wayd is living in Nashville with his wife and two young daughters.
