You Can't Stop Rascal Flatts
Not everyone is as thrilled as I am about the big Rascal Flatts show at Chicago's Wrigley Field. There is, in fact, a group dedicated to stopping the music. Their concerns are valid: It will be loud, it will conflict with other area summer goings-on and it violates an agreement with the community that limits the ballpark to two concerts a year. (Elton John and Billy Joel are doing two shows at Wrigley Field that same month.) But there is hope. And there are some rules that could help assuage the tempers: Alcohol sales would end at 9:30 p.m., and the band will have a music curfew of 11 p.m. Still, the community group is asking the Cubs to cancel the Rascal Flatts show altogether. Good luck with that.

Wow, now that is a shame. I have been to Chicago’s Wrigley Field and it is in a very family oriented neighborhood and I could see why they don’t want alot of concerts there but to cancel the concert would be so sad! I hope they are able to work it out. It would be good for the economy there too so maybe there is hope. Love them Rascal Flatts!

It must be Friday….Go Cubbies!

If this concert goes against an agreement with the neighborhood then I hope they do have to cancel it, or at least move it to a different venue. If the agreement can be violated just like that, then it must not have been much of an agreement in the first place. Also, I dont know the dates of any of the concerts at Wrigley, but if they are during baseball season then I say they cancel them all. Wrigley Field is for baseball first and foremost, and as a Cubs fan, I will be highly upset if I see them having to play on a field that has been trampled and torn up due to the concerts.

Hmmm i dont like rasac flatts but i bet if it was a rap concert about rapeing and killing doing drugs and doing other illegal things then i bet they would allow the concert without any arguement.

If people chose to live by a ballpark where there are a few dozen games a year, traffic, noise, etc, why can’t they deal with it for ONE day?? They can deal with huge crowds for a few dozen Cubs games, how is that different than a concert?
I also agree that the city should be jumping at the chance to hold this concert. It will bring in a few thousand people, and bring in tons of money for local businesses. If people didn’t want commotion, traffic, and concerts, they should move.

Alison, I’m going to this show. It’s still on for sure.. Rascal Flatts fan club is offering VIP that go on-sale March 3rd. I highly doubt they would be selling tickets if the show wasn’t still on. Btw, I heard a rumor that the Flatts paid this little neighborhood group to let them play. If that is true it’s ridiculous. They should be honored to have them be the first country artist to do a show at Wrigley..
Kelsey says:
This is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! Rascal Flatts are 10003859438096x more popular than the cubs. The cubs suck and so do these people trying to cancel the concert! I will be so upset if it is cancelled because I just spent $600 on tickets! Ughhhh! This makes me so mad!!!! Who would do this? And why would they not cancel one of Elton John’s concerts. They are playing TWICE! What the heck!!!!
Kim says:
Why would they book them if it was a violation of some contract? That’s a pretty big oversight. I live in the DFW area and the Rangers have concerts all the time, and no one objects. Wrigley is such a weird park…historic and all that, but the managers seem crazy. Its a topic of discussion even in American league broadcasters.
Trailer says:
Go Cubbies. RF may have more fans (at this moment in time - certainly not all-time), but the Cubs have more intelligent fans. Go community group! Rid this fine neighborhood of this scourge.
K says:
Who are you to judge if Cubs fans are more ntelligent than RF fans?! That is an incredibly shallow sterotype that bears no truth whatsoever.
Rascal Flatts is an awesome band and they’ve worked thier butts off for ten years to get where they are. They deserve to play at a stadium, and their fans deserve the right to go see an awesome show.
Mary says:
Hello am a country fan and got to say this to Rascal Flatts band ..why do you have that no talented Jessica Simpson in your tour? She will ruin your band ..can you all see she has no talent in singing or acting ..even her moves are no good she cant carry a tune or moves to the rythem get rid of her before your band sinks as does other peopleyou are a very good band you dont need her to spoil it .

Who remembers when the lights weren’t on at Wriggly field. I sure miss Harry singing during the 7th inning stretch.
Amy says:
Mary, Jessica will no longer be touring with Rascal Flatts after they wrap up the Bob That Head tour on March 14th. Then Darius Rucker will be the new opening act for their tour this summer.
