Craig Morgan, Zac Brown Band, Miley Cyrus Unveil New Videos
It's new departure time in videos this week for the Zac Brown Band, Miley Cyrus and Craig Morgan as the CMT New Video Evaluation Team considered this week's crop. Never fear, though, Zac's still got the stocking cap, Miley's essentially spunky as ever and Craig keeps working on his hair.
Artist: Craig Morgan
Video: "God Must Really Love Me"
Director: Eric Welch
An atmospheric, serious video in which Craig as narrator witnesses a series of gritty vignettes at a seedy motel. The lesson of it all is the title of the song. Human crises are solved or at least averted for the time being, including an intended suicide and a distraught motel room liaison.
Panelists' comments: "Good Message." "Yeah, this is the kind of serious song that fits Craig well." "I like the song."
Artist: Zac Brown Band
Video: "Whatever It Is"
Director: Clifton Collins Jr.
Zac and the boys are back, although we don't actually see the band this time. This is the first Zac Brown Band conceptual video, based on an uplifting love song. The payoff in the lyrics: "Because every time I try and tell her how I feel, it comes out. 'I love you. You got whatever it is.'"
Comments: "I like the song." "Good-looking video, overall." "I wish I was there on that beach." "Who died, there at the end?"
Artist: Miley Cyrus
Video: "The Climb" (Hannah Montana: The Movie Soundtrack)
Director: Matthew Rolston
Miley's starting to look and act more mature in this serious venture at a message song and video from her movie. She's obviously striving for musical credibility, and she's following Taylor Swift's arc. It's beautifully shot and looks gorgeous on screen
Comments: "You wouldn't know it's from a movie." "We don't have anything else on the air that looks like that." "Miley may surprise a lot of people yet."
Consensus: Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" will debut Monday (March 2) on CMT in hot shot rotation. The Zac Brown Band's "Whatever It Is" will debut on CMT the same day in heavy rotation. Craig Morgan's "God Must Really Love Me" enters the hold list.

I can’t believe Miley Cyrus is trying to be country. She’s not at all. I really can’t stand her. I love ZBB’s new video. And Craig Morgan’s is uplifting.
Twangtown7 says:
Why the (bleep) are you guys putting Hannah friggin’ Montana on your site?!! Bunch of posers!!
Kim says:
This must be a blog for tomorrow, but they might be showing Finger Eleven here soon. they say they have a country album they want to put out.
Loved the Zac Brown.
Ken says:
I am waiting for Ozzy Osborne and Alice Cooper to go country. Seems like everyone else is.
Katie says:
when cmt starts playing miley cryus, is when I start watching gac.
anna says:
I watch GAC, plus Miley has roots in country I don’t really see what is so wrong about it. The song has beautiful lyrics and is likable enough.
David Nisbet, Scotland says:
It’s Craig & Miley for me. The Zac Brown Band’s album was such a disappointment after the brilliance of the Roger Miller-ish Chicken Fried.
To the haters - The Climb is NO different to any of the stuff Martina McBride peddles, except Miley puts some emotion into it, while Martina just tries to sell it on vocal power alone.
Danielle says:
No appreciation for yelling David?
Pam says:
Why is Craig’s going on the hold list????? Is it because it dares to mention God????
hotelmotel says:
I doubt mentioning God has much to do with it. An awful lot of country songs have been mentioning God in the past ten years or so. There’s nothing “daring” about a country singer invoking God: in the current climate the truly daring singer would be the singer who claimed to be agnostic or athiest, or even Muslim!
David Nisbet, Scotland says:
“An awful lot of country songs have been mentioning God”…
…since before it was called Country.
Lady Goodman says:
I don’t get Matthew Rolston’s work at all. Whose his publicist? His work is marginal at best. That blown out Photoshop look with his photos is incredibly trendy. This Miley Cyrus video - not good at all. Matthew - less is more. Just because the chick has got bank go slow with the special effects.
Seth says:
Does anyone know where the Zac Brown Band’s Video Whatever It Is was taped? Looks like the coast of Georgia or South Carolina, but I’d love to know the exact location.
Sue says:
Why isnt craig releasing ordinary angels as a single that is a beautiful song!!!!
