Reckless Kelly Ride the Ragged Road Through Nashville
Call them a rock band or call them a country band. All that matters is that they put on one hell of a show. Reckless Kelly took the stage at Nashville's Exit In last night (Feb. 25) and tore through about a 90-minute set of tunes from throughout their 10-plus years of making music. The usually mellow Wednesday night crowd was pumped up and sang and danced along with the band as soon as the first chord rang out. "1952 Vincent Black Lightning," "Wicked Twisted Road," "Wild Western Windblown Band" and songs from last year's Bulletproof album were all there. Here's their video for "Ragged as the Road," but it's just a little taste of what you'll hear at their shows. Check out their upcoming tour dates and get the full experience.

Bettye says:
I’ve seen Reckless Kelly more than once. They are a top notch live band. My favorite show was at the Granada Theater in Dallas. They played through all of their hits and non-hits and proceeded to change over to covers and great rock standards. Sometime after midnight I had to throw in the towel and go home to get some sleep. Reckless Kelly was still going strong! You need to check out their tour schedule and go see them.
Kim says:
I was at that show too! (or one of them)! I love them! If you can’t do it live you can’t do it at all.
Long live red dirt music!
RedMaZ says:
In my opinion, without a doubt, one of the best Roots Country/Rock bands there is. I’ve been a fan since their CD “Millican”. Would love to see them live. Maybe this summer…
Ms. Feathers says:
Aw, Red - what are ya gonna do when they get “POP”ular???
RedMaZ says:
Musical integrity is hardly ever popular. If it ever is again…more power to them.
Ms. Feathers says:
But you can’t STOP a song from becoming popular… regardless of the level of “musical integrity”. There are TONS of artists who have “musical integrity” who are also popular.
Then again, it all depends on how narrow your definition of “musical integrity” is. If you’re trying to get that camel through the eye of a needle, then hardly anyone qualifies.
I listened to that one Reckless Kelly song you suggested a few weeks ago, and I LIKED it. It sounded like something that would be really popular. I might even buy a CD. And once RK gets popular, then other Americana artists will too, as people discover this genre thru RK. Then Americana will be popular and the exclusive club of fans will be invaded, the protective walls breached and the gates stormed.
Get ready for the invasion, Red…
RedMaZ says:
You’re telling ME to get ready for the invasion? I need to tell you something. I’ve been ready for 10 years. It’s not my fault, nor my problem most people have been so far behind the times, and I certainly have no problem whatsoever that Pop fans are starting to listen to Roots music. I encourage it, and think it’s great.
As far as getting that camel through the eye of the needle maybe we should start with just the toe ;)
Mary says:
Definitely my favorite band. They put on one helluva show! And if RK can start the invasion, bring it on! :)

since we were turned on to texas country i have taken more vacation days and gone on more roadtrips to see bands like reckless kelly, roger creager, wade bowen, ragweed, eli young band, randy rogers, cory morrow, and the list goes on. these standout acts dont mainstream in the northeast(wny)(screw NYC!) so we are left to fly out to joes bar in chicago, beachland ballroom in cleveland, newport music hall in columbus, to the feb25 show at the exit/in in nashville and to the best musicfest in the country in steamboat colorado. the best way we coulda let anybody know that texas country was in nashville was rockin reckless kelly, ragweed, RRB, and stoney larue shirts while we were being “tourists” on broadway. nashville doesnt get it. these guys all work together they stick together and produce some of the best music that nashville wishes they had… they write their own stuff, they run with their own bands, and they even come out after the shows and talk to the people that appreciate them, they are regular and dont put themselves above their fans like fake a$$ nashville acts….get off your high horse cause you arent that good! like waylon wrote it nashville has been the same way for years, it needs a change ~*~{NASHVILLE SUCKS}~*~
