Dolly Parton to Receive Honorary Doctorate
If you've ever listened to her music, you know Dolly Parton's a doctor of words. She has the special ability to mend a broken heart and heal through song. She can patch a broken spirit with a "Coat of Many Colors," remind us of life's simplicities with "My Tennessee Mountain Home," and of course, say the words we often cannot find in "I Will Always Love You." Come May, Dolly Parton will receive an honorary humane and musical letters doctorate through the University of Tennessee. With the board of trustees' approval, she will be honored with a doctorate for her work in not only music but also her philanthropic contributions to Imagination Library, her organization that provides a book a month to children in participating counties around the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Without a doubt, her musical gifts and donations have touched the lives of so many throughout the world, proving she truly is an "Eagle When She Flies."

I have always loved Dolly and went to see her live when she was in Toledo Ohio many years ago. In 1997 I paid for my entire family to visit Dollywood, But the last time I took some one there, The price was way too rich for my blood. with the economy like it is. I feel more people would visit there if she had not raised the prices so high. they have more than doubled since we were there. I rented a chalet for 10, for 3 days and nights near the park. But with the price increase I can no longer afford to go to Dollywood..even though, I have recently moved a lot closer to the park I am dissapointed at the price increase, after all wouldn’t it be better to keep the price reasonable so more folks could attend. Saw Dolly on Larry King last night and just wanted to put my 2 cents worth in. Thanks Jo Stricklin Telford,Tn

I cannot agree more on this. If anyone deserves such acknowledgement for their success, it should be Miss Dolly Parton. I’ve only listened to some of her work and most of which I heard in your dad’s room, but even from that, I adore her. She manages to send such wonderful messages through all of her music. She has such emotion in all of her work and I truly encourage everyone to think the same.
