All Oprah Needs Is a Few Good Cheatin' Songs

Did anyone see Oprah yesterday? With that "relationship expert" M. Gary Neuman? He said a recent study has shown that an estimated one in 2.7 men will cheat, and their wives will never know about it. That's one in three men.

A recent study? You don't do scientific research for this, Oprah. All you need is country music. The depth and breadth of cheatin' songs out there do not fall on deaf ears. They are there for a reason. And that is because it is human nature to stray, and it's Nashville's job to point that out and either make light of it or advise the cheated-on to get the hell out and/or seek revenge.

So while Neuman's book, The Truth About Cheating, probably does a good job documenting his findings from his work with faithful and not-so-faithful husbands, I think a look at some country songs on the topic would shed just as much light. How to cope? "Before He Cheats" has some productive ways to get your feelings out. How not to cope? The angry wife in "The Thunder Rolls" shows you how. Finding out who she is? "Cheater, Cheater" has a few theories. Need to get in touch with the hurt and anger? Go through old photo albums of the good times while listening to "You Were Mine." How to be sure the cheaters get what they deserve? Try "Brokenheartsville." Convince yourself to leave? "Stay." And convince yourself to stay? "When I Think About Cheatin'." In good times and in bad, country music is really there for you.

Oh, and 92 percent of the men this Neuman surveyed said it wasn't about the sex. They said it was more because they felt under-appreciated. They just want small gestures of love. Poor babies. But, then again, maybe they shoulda thought of that when they were cheatin'.

“Before He Cheats” is what every woman that has been cheated on finds herself thinking hard about doing–when weve been hurt the first thing we want is revenge–I know that because my first husband left me at home with the kids while he played the field every Friday and Saturday night until he moved his girlfriend into an apartment down the street and thought he was going to have the best of both worlds until I threw his clothes out the door while he was in the process of finishing moving her in! He got a big surprise when he got home at 3am! So I believe the statistics because I learned the hard way that the wife is the last one to find out but what they dont know is that deep down inside the woman always knows!!
