With $20 Concert Tickets, You Can Escape With Keith Urban

Posted: February 9th, 2009 at 5:44 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Keith UrbanMaybe those K.C. Masterpiece fumes are getting to him. But whatever the reason, Keith Urban has decided that rich people aren't the only ones who deserve concert tickets to his Escape Together World Tour. To that end, he has created (insisted, actually) that a select number of seats be made available for just 20 bucks. And when he says $20, he really means $20. All transaction fees have been waived. They may not be front row, but Urban has a way of making arenas feel intimate and making everyone there feel close. "It's easy to see that people out there are hurting," said Urban. "And if these ticket prices can help some of them to let loose, forget about their daily grind and enjoy a night of music, then that's what we intend to give them and everyone else that comes out to our shows." That, Urban fans, is the truly sweet thing.

You can see with Keith that he just loves to play and sing. Maybe others will take the hint. I totally love to watch him. He really lives his music and has a good time doing it.

Keith makes every concert a celebration. How like him to want as many people to be able to attend as possible. He really is what an “entertainer” is all about.

Very good thing for him to do that and makes me more proud of being one of his fans! I haven’t attended any of his concert but have bought his recorded concert. Long live keith Urban!

Keith Urban is really a class act. I was fortunate enough to meet him and his beautiful wife Nicole this past November and they were both so gracious and personable! It really makes you appreciate them more. Some of the other stars I’ve met are not so accomodating.

This won’t put him in the running for “highest grossing tour” of the year, but I suspect with Keith, that’s not something he cares about.

I wonder what kind of waves THIS radical move will make in the industry!!! It sure will be interesting to find out!

I don’t see what the big deal is. Must be a Pop music thing, because nearly every concert/show I see is less than twenty dollars.

Thank you Keith for thinking of the fans instead of your wallet. Keith is truly an entertainer, not just a singer & musician looking to make a buck. Says a lot about his commitment to his fans and music.

Great move by Keith. When he is on stage, there is definitely not a bad seat anywhere in the arena. Ill definitely be at the show when this tour comes to Nashville. I cant wait.

I am ashamed to say how much I’ve paid for Keith Urban tickets in the past. So this is good news, indeed!

Keith, I’ll be there at your concert no matter what I have to pay, but $20.00 sounds great! You are so worth what it costs to see you. I heard an interview the other night with Dierks Bentley and he said when he was on tour with Keith and Kenny a while back, that when he finished his set he would head to the audience and watch Keith’s set. He said, a Keith Urban concert is what it’s all about for him!! Very nice Dierks! So true!

Too bad that all the tickets that went on sale today were already sold out as soon as the presale went on sale, all concerts were already sold out so people who bought memberships to his Mokeyville fan club at $25 bucks just got ripped off because Ticketmaster sold all tickets to StubHub and places like that. So those few $20 seats are nothing compared to how we all just got taken

Good move by Keith. There is no bad seat in the arena when Keith is on stage. Im very much looking forward to seeing him when this tour comes to Nashville.

What!!!!!!!! I didn’t pay no 20.00 dollars a ticket it was more like a $140. for Mohegan Sun $85 for Boston.(that doesn’t include processing fees)
Yes I have floor seating(and no I am not up front and I am far from the catwalk if there will be one) but when you start buying tickets that are further away from the stage (nosebleed sections)
they are always cheaper. Sometimes they’re like $15.
I never thought that I would pay 140 plus for a Keith Urban ticket but…………. I guess I love him!!!

I would love to know where the $20 tickets are - I got tickets to 3 shows on the presales this week and there was no offer for a $20 ticket. I paid $85 and the seats are way in the back.

Well they are cheap and my boy keith has a point, but just remember to take your binoculars if you plan on getting those $20.00 dollar tickets.
Concerts are sooo much fun, but better when you can actually see your artist! ;D
I love kieth urban, i think he is so SEXY!
and has an amazing voice… I bought his concert DVD
and never expected him to return on tour any time soon, but he is. And he’ll be here in Dallas TX in July!
I cant wait to see my baby…
Ya’ll if you can get the $60.00 ones get them! they are way worth it!

but like i said, dont forget them binoculars!
    ;DDD

Well, the $20 fee-less seats are a lovely thought, BUT considering that the primary “licensed” ticket vendor is holding auctions for some of the premium seats (with current bids on at least one concert between $90 and $160 PER SEAT), the vendors are still getting more than their fair share of the pie.

And while I LOVE Keith and have been fortunate enough to see him multiple times, I won’t be purchasing tickets to his shows or anyone else’s who continues to use these particular vendors to sell their seats.

  • hotelmotel says:

    Posted: February 16th, 2009 at 12:49 am

I have no problem with $90 to $160 concert tickets. That doesn’t necessarily seem overpriced to me.

  • BluIDGypC says:

    Posted: February 17th, 2009 at 12:24 pm

Hotelmotel, you’ve missed the point. The face value of the tickets for the particular show I am talking about is $75, yet the ticket vendor itself is hosting auctions (BTW…now prices for these seats exceed $200)for these seats.

SO, even though Keith has requested that a limited number of seats be made available for $20 with no fees, the ticket vendor is still making MORE than their fair share on this tour.

I applaude those few venues that have not allowed the ticket vendor the lattitude to sell seats this way…wish more had chosen that route.

  • Ms. Feathers says:

The “auction” thing for prime concert real estate is like an online version of Survivor or The Amazing Race, and it’s ridiculous. If the difference between face value and auction sale is donated to charity, that might be a different story, but it’s just another way for “that vendor” to make money.

I’m glad “live music” is popular enough to cause this kind of free-market free-for-all, but the vendor contributes to a certain kind of “class warfare” by reserving the best seats only for those who can pay thru the nose. And I won’t even start on my scalper tirade - that’s a whole ‘nother soapbox!

I went on line sunday to purchase some of those great $20.00 tickets to see Keith Urban and Sugarland in N.Little Rock,Ar. I thought I purchased 4 tickets so me and my gals from work could all go together for my 49th Birthday! Well much to my surprise the website I bought the tickets from has a problem and didn’t complete my transaction, so needless to say we don’t have the 4 tickets
and that ticket website isn’t doing a darn thing to help us out! We are all single people who live pay check to pay check, so this really bumbs us all out totally! either way we 4 are now left out in the hot without tickets!
