My Favorite Grammy Performance Goes To …
What I usually enjoy most about the Grammy Awards is seeing artists from different genres performing together -- like when much-deserved five-time Grammy winners Robert Plant and Alison Krauss took the stage for a medley of their songs from their award-winning collaborative album, Raising Sand. But I'd have to say my favorite performance last night was hands down, Kid Rock.
I was impressed. His vocals were spot on and he even shaved AND wore a suit. At one point, I turned up my television to rock out at my desk while I was working. There's just something about "All Summer Long" that makes me smile. It gives me that summertime feeling, a care-free sunny outlook -- like tomorrow I might just skip work and go to the beach. No, wait. Shoot. It's February and I wouldn't do that anyway. But for a moment, I, too, was out on the beach splashing through the sand bar and talking by the campfire. I enjoy the escape I feel from his music and that lighthearted, easygoing feeling. He was entertaining, fun and sounded terrific. Overall I give a big "Amen" to this self-proclaimed Rock N Roll Jesus.

my Favorite would have to be Carrie Underwood , she ROCKED the stage, and looked BEAUTIFUL doing it!! FYI to all who think that she was wear a dress during the performance she was not it was shorts , i get this from Carrie her self , as she said on her fan site,
CARRIE LOOKED AND SOUNDED AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL LAST NIGHT AT THE GRAMMY CONGRATS FOR HER 4TH GRAMMY
alex says:
carrie’s legs looked like she stole them from her wax figure! maybe it was her wax figure performing. doesn’t matter, I muted my tv as soon as I figured out Urban was annoucing her. don’t care to hear the ear piercing squeals

I liked the tribute to Bo Diddley. Do any of you people know Diddley?
just me says:
I loved the performance by Kenny Chesney he was amazing, that song is a great song and Kenny does a wonderful job singing it.
RedMaZ says:
Hey…know Diddley??? Or squat for that matter? I doubt it. As far as live performances on the Grammy show, the legends took everyone to school. Sir Paul McCartney, Smokey Robinson, Neil Diamond, The Reverend Al Green, Buddy Guy, B.B King, outshined them all. After that it would have to be for me Robert, Alison, T-Bone, and Buddy Miller.

My favorite performance would have to be Jennifer Nettles’ (Sugarland) performance of “Stay”. It’s such a powerful song and I’m glad she’s been honored for it! I was happy to see Trace Adkins in the crowd, but I’m dissapointed he didn’t take an award home. But “Letter to Me” is pretty good (not my favorite Brad song, but not my least). Also dissapointed Randy Travis didn’t win another Grammy, but I love George Strait too and George has never won a Grammy (until now).
My LEAST favorite performances were Carrie’s trashy performance of “Last Name” (she’s a great vocalist, but I can’t stand that song.), Kenny’s whiny performance of “Better as a Memory”, Taylor’s part on “Fifteen” where she dueted with Miley. Although it’s Taylor’s song, I think she should just let Miley sing her songs (I’m no Miley fan either BTW), but Miley had harmony and a good tone to her voice during the performance. Plus Taylor’s & Carrie’s outfuts were Horrible, IMO, but not as bad as the black girl that was pregnant (don’t know her name sorry) with the polka dots.
Gail says:
Sorry, but Kenny’s performance was flat out boring to me and on some of the reviews from newspapers I’ve read, they thought so too. I loved all the tributes! Four Tops, Bo Diddley. I could hardly understand Robert Plant and Allison when they sang. They were singing so low!
Twangtown7 says:
Why was Kennys performance boring? Because it didn’t have a huge light show? Or because he wasn’t running around on stage? Or because he didn’t have any stupid stage props?
Please. His was one of the best of the night.

I too loved Kid Rock. I too want to go to the beach and talk all spring long around the campfire. I thought that the show was overall great. Yea, there were moments, but overall, it was well done. Great job.
Holly says:
I thank Kenny Chesney so much for having his first ever Grammy awards show performance be what I think is the most traditional country song that he has done in a long time. Country music was well represented performance wise because of him, but to me the best performance was saved for last: Robert Plant and a lady that I have been looking up to for the past 15 years now, the lovely and awesome Alison Krauss. (big smile)
God bless you and her and Robert and Kenny always!!!

By far the best was Kid Rock.
The worst in my opinion came out as a tie:
Jonas Brothers / Stevie Wonder
Miley and Taylor
If Stevie could see he would have went over there and BONKED that punk who forgot his lyrics. What a bunch of losers! Stevie ? Do you really need the money that bad dude?
I knew there was going to be trouble when I saw those two girls up on a stage singing acoustic. Train wreck alert! It happened - Miley screeched and warbled, Taylor just flat out is tone deaf and constantly drifts off key. Obviously both are supported by dumb fans and a Corporate Marketing Juggernaut.

From the performances that I saw, every artist was pretty solid.
I’m glad Carrie won for “Last Name,” but last night’s performance was NOT her best. Although the vocals were there, she appeared a bit uncomfortable to me- like she didn’t know who to let loose and just have fun with the song. She also had a few moments where she was shouting I thought. But to be fair, I did think her band’s music was a bit loud, and she had to shout a bit to be heard over the noise. But that being said, she absolutly deserved the country female vocalist grammy, she is an amazing talent.
Kenny was OK- he performed better than usual live, and it’s nice to see he can hold his own without the huge production and stage lights behind him. Although I thought the performance was a solid effort, his vocals nor presence on stage failed to do much for me.
Sugarland (well, Jenifer) is a very talented vocalist, and she has the perfect voice for country music. Although I liked the simple production of the song, Jenifer’s vocals were a bit too twangy for me at parts. But it was still a great performance.
The Taylor/Miley duet wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Neither of them are strong vocalists, but I thought this was one of Taylor’s better efforts. She seems to do better when sitting down sitting acoustically, so I think the arrangement was what saved the performance.

carrie was not good at all she was screaming and the dres shorts whatever it was she was wearing looked trashy. sugarland was by far the best then kenny taylor was good but miley not so much I guess she was ok.they all looked pretty good on the red carpet!PS EXCEPT LEANN RIMES!
Greatdivide08 says:
I think Paul Mcartney with Dave Grohl on drums was the best. All you could see was hair flying being Paul.Cracked me up.It reminded me of the old “Muppet Show” with Animal playing drums.
Next to that would be Alision and Plant.
Worse had to be Stevie Wonder and the Jonas boys. The Grammy people must be mad at Stevie for sticking him on the same stage with Toon Disney.

I am not really a big Kid Rock fan but I really think he did an awesome job last night. !!!
Why didn’t Keith Urban get a solo?
lulu says:
My fav and best performance is Carrie Underwood, and agreed with Grammy Awards 2009 performances rating from Time, it’s an “A” for Carrie.

keith urban did not get asolo because he was filling in for chris brown.
Connie says:
As always I gave the Grammy’s a pass. I know very little about other music beyond country,What I have heard I don’t like. I saw clips of the high lights , Don’t think I missed much,
Sugarland and Stay yuck I can’t bare to hear that song and her vocals any more.
I would have enjoyed Kid Rocks All Summer long. I agree the song is just fun
Kate says:
I can’t agree here. I like Kid Rock, but I didn’t think his vocals were good until about the middle of the performance, however, he is a great performer, hands down. My favorite was probably Carrie Underwood (speaking of spot-on vocals!) and Justin Timberlake and TI, because I, too, like to see multiple genres come together. Great,discussion-starting blog, Whitney!
BDC says:
