Taylor Swift's "White Horse" About to Come Around
I'm not a teenager anymore. I don't really believe in fairy tales. And my Prince Charming swept me off my feet years ago, and romance has since given way to life with three kids. That said, I still love Taylor Swift's latest single, "White Horse," for a lot of reasons. If I had to narrow it down to one, I'd have to say it's the confidence that shows up at the end of the song. So naturally, I can't wait to see how that's brought to life in the video premiering Saturday (Feb. 7) exclusively on CMT and CMT.com.
It's like that Sugarland song "Stay." After spending the first couple of verses begging this man to stay with her, Jennifer Nettles finally tells him to stay put. With his wife. And in this one, Swift is pining for this man and his white horse to come around. With a loping melody and some orchestral drama behind her, she berates herself ("stupid girl, I should've known") for ever thinking he was going to sweep her off her feet. But still, she waits. By the end of the song, though, Swift is outta there. She is moving on and is going to find someone someday who might actually treat her well. And as for that white horse? It's too late to catch her now.
So will the video be a modern-day heartbreaker, set in the hallways of a small-town high school? Or will it take a step back in time when white horses and Prince Charmings were so routine? Or will it be Swift singing the song live? I have no idea, because no one who has seen it will give me even the slightest hint. (Other than telling me that Laguna Beach hottie Stephen Colletti is in it.) I do hope, though, that the imagery isn't going to be all over-the-top glamour. This is still Nashville. This ain't Hollywood, after all.
The video premieres Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET on CMT and will then be available for free streaming at CMT.com.

A recent studio session of this song was much better than the album version. I was surprised by the vulnerability and sincerity. If she can hold onto that in the video, it will be something special. I fear that it will be over-produced.

There haev been clips of it on CMT after the commercials of the next episode of GC3. You see Taylor crouched down in a corner next to a brick wall in a house. It looks AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! I honestly can’t wait!!

I agree with RedMaZ on this one. I think that thanks to all of Alison’s Blog on Taylor Swift, Taylor is the number one topic in the blogs. She has to be very young to write this much about Taylor unless she just feels sorry for her.

Ken - I doubt that Alison writes these blogs because she is young, she feels sorry for Taylor or because she even necessarily likes Taylor.
The more likely motive, I think, is simply that she realizes that writing about these artists generates the most clicks on the stories, which is probably what CMT is after.
I don’t like Taylor Swift at all. But if I had Alison’s job you can bet I’d be writing about Swift (and mostly positive things) nonstop.

The CMT site is in the business of getting clicks and visitors. Lots of people care about Taylor Swift, comparatively few people care if a Mark Chesnutt video comes out or if Carrie Rodriguez does something or if Sunny Sweeney releases a new song.
Alison is doing exactly what she should be doing. I don’t know if she really likes Taylor Swift. I wouldn’t be surprised if she secretly hates Taylor Swift. (Many DJs positively detest the music they play, why not blog writers too?).
I don’t like Taylor Swift. But she’s selling well right now. It makes perfect sense to blog about her.

I agree with CjJ - people have every right to dislike Swift. I’d note though that when a blog about Swift gets, say 30 responses from Swift haters (and many responses from fans), but a blog about, say, Joe Diffie, gets 7 responses total, I think CMT does better to write about Swift.
The level of Dislike for Swift is greater than the level of like for Joe Diffie, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, or whomever.
CMT can use that dislike to its advantage when people who dislike Swift come on the CMT boards to express their dislike for her. Dislike for Swift gets people to the CMT site, and that’s what the need.

Tay Swift Fan - I would agree with you if the person disliked Swift, as a human being. That would suggest (though not prove) jealousy or some other such emotion. But if the person simply dislike’s Swift’s music, we can’t necessarily attribute that to jealousy. It could be simply that the person doesn’t like the music, for whatever reason.
