Country Music Hall of Fame to Induct Mandrell, Clark and McCoy
Barbara Mandrell, Roy Clark and legendary session musician Charlie McCoy have been selected for induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame, it was revealed during a Wednesday morning (Feb. 4) press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in downtown Nashville. Mandrell, whose hits include "Sleeping Single in a Double Bed" and "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool," was host of Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters, a variety series that aired on NBC during the early ‘80s. Clark, a former sideman for Wanda Jackson and Jimmy Dean, gained national attention in the ‘60s through appearances on The Beverly Hillbillies and as a co-host of Hee Haw. Although McCoy spent most of his career out of the spotlight -- and in the recording studios -- he remains one of the most-recorded session musicians of all time. When you listen to the harmonica solo behind George Jones on "He Stopped Loving Her Today," that's McCoy. And that's just one of his many signature performances. In addition to his countless sessions with mainstream country stars, he has also played on recordings by Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Simon & Garfunkel, and Ringo Starr.

Susan Osterhout says:
Well, thank God. It took long enough. Likely one of the most talented entertainers to ever hit Nashville yet rarely recognized for all that she achieved. Those that are successful in today’s world should thank Barbara because she did pave the way for them. Congrats Barbara.
Darren says:
I for 1 dont see why Charlie McCoy is being inducted, Barbara yes Roy Ehh
RedMaZ says:
Roy looks quite shocked!!! As was I.
The best I’ve ever heard Roy Clark was on a CD/DVD with the late great Jazz guitarist Joe Pass called “Roy Clark and Joe Pass play Hank Williams”. All instrumentals, and amazing. Joe brought the best out Roy for that session.
cj says:
It is about time all three were a big part of country music. Barbara is one of the most talented artist I have ever seen. I wish we had more acts like her Roy and Neal. Back when country was country. I miss it. Congrats to all!
RedMaZ says:
Country still is Country. Just as good if not better than ever. Just because you don’t know about it doesn’t mean it does not exist. By the way it’s not Neal. It’s Charlie McCoy who was inducted.
joe says:
Roy is the Best musician playing any instrument and I’ve been a fan since he started in Georgetown DC. at the Shamrock, in the late 1950 and he deserves to be there.
Gary Gibbons says:
Barbara Mandrell - she wrote the book. I am shocked she is not already there!!!
I hope she comes out of retirement for at least a Vegas or comeback tour. She is class, talent, and entertainment.
Congrats Barbara
Jason Lindsey says:
Congrats to Roy, Barbara and Charlie. Hopefully next year will be Don Williams’ turn. He will be 70 years old this May and is one of the most loved Country Music Stars worldwide. His induction is long overdue.
