Remembering the Good Times With Kris Kristofferson
My mother sometimes says she lives vicariously through me. But tonight, I will be living and listening through her. She's been excited about this evening for months because finally, after a lifetime of loving Kris Kristofferson, she's finally going to see him in concert. He'll be playing at the Rosebud Theatre in Effingham, Ill., only about 15 minutes from where I was raised. I'm so excited for her and wish I could be there to experience it along with her. I keep wondering what he'll sing, what stories he'll tell, who he'll mention and what the moment will be like.
But I already know. I remember when I saw him perform in the studio for a taping of CMT's Unplugged at Studio 330. As his humble self stood there and performed in a black shirt, black jeans and guitar in hand, I thought to myself that I would remember that moment forever. And then again last year when I saw him perform for a PBS taping and even two years ago when I waited outside the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in hopes to grab someone's unused ticket, I'll remember those, too. I told the woman at the counter at the Hall of Fame that if a ticket came available, I would be outside waiting. Ten minutes before the show, I had a ticket in hand.
I will never forget these times when I saw Kris Kristofferson perform live. He's a legend with a presence like I've never experienced. And it makes me so happy that tonight my mother will know exactly how that feels.

So, how was the concert? How long did he play? I am going to see him tonight in Waukeegan….
TxAgg says:
He is a true legend.
Mom says:
I was front and center, second row. Seeing Kris Kristofferson was as special to me as it was to my daughter, Whitney. There was no opening act or bright lights. He quietly walked out on stage and began to play and sing. That is all the audience needed. The couple of hours flew by in minutes, but will be with me a lifetime. Enjoy his spirit as well as his music.
