The Raconteurs and Ashley Monroe Break Down "Old Enough"

One of my favorite videos, songs and collaborations as of late has been the Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe on "Old Enough." It's stripped down, out in the open and really proves the "less is more" philosophy. Wondering how the track came together, I stumbled across the Video Replay that interviews Brendan Benson, Ashley Monroe and Jack White. They talk about where the idea for the bluegrass reworking came from, meeting Ashley for the first time and the improvisation among the group (that "Wake Up Little Susie" breakdown - totally off the cuff according to White). Knowing the story behind it just makes me enjoy this video more.

    What a great video and collaboration of talent!! Can’t help but tap your feet, love it! I for one hope to much more from Ashley Monroe.

    Ashley Monroe has done a collaboration with local singer/songwriter Trent Dabbs, if you all are looking for more music from her. It isn’t necessarily country but definitely worth checking out. They sound great together! You can pick up the EP on ITunes and check out some of their videos from the studio on YouTube.

    Brilliant video! That was definitely magic! The Racs totally RULE! Ashley Monroe’s voice incredible!

    I love this collaboration! Ashley’s a great talent and has a PERFECT voice. The Racs RULE, as usual. Scaggs’ mandolin is also perfection! Let’s hope we’ll see more of these talented musicians.
