See a Zac Brown Band Concert, Take It Home With You
Here's a fresh idea that seems long overdue. Anyone who sees a lot of concerts knows that sometimes the details can get a little fuzzy, even if it was one of the best shows you've ever seen. The Zac Brown Band wants you to be able to remember all the fun you had, so they have partnered with Aderra Inc. to provide recordings of their live shows. But instead of waiting weeks or months for the show to be printed on CDs and distributed (and hoping the show you were at gets chosen), you can buy a copy of the concert you just saw on your way out the door. The concerts will be recorded using Aderra's "Live in a Flash" technology and transferred onto USB wristbands immediately, providing a souvenir of your experience that is way better than a T-shirt. The recordings sound clear and full, too. I, for one, really hope this catches on because then I can cut back on my dorky note taking during shows, but there's got to be about a hundred other reasons this is cool.

I have always hoped for something like this. I never thought it would actually happen, though, because venues and record labels try so hard to keep recordings from hitting the Web. It would be nice for all artists to catch onto this.

Labels were against things like this because they don’t like anything that would cut in on their album sales. I’m sure the majors will still fight it, they’re a little slow in realizing that not everyone wants to buy or listen to music the same way.
Now with album sales decreasing because of changing technology, and bootleg recordings getting out and shown on the web anyway, artists who have some control over their own destinies, will be smart enough to take advantage of more ways available to get their music heard… and the money in their pockets instead of someone else’s.
Just as long as fans realize it’s not going to be of the same quality as an edited, polished studio version, I see it as a good thing.

I got one of them in Louisville last November. The whole CD is on the USB wristband too. Best concert in Louisville for all of 2008! We still listen back to the show still a couple months later.
