Rosin Up Your Bows for String Camp

Posted: January 16th, 2009 at 3:33 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

If you read this blog on a regular basis, you know that I'm a big fan of fiddles. But since I personally couldn't bow my way through "Twinkle, Twinkle," I'd like to live vicariously through anyone who goes to this summer camp for fiddlers. It's the Mark O'Connor Fiddle Camp in Burns, Tenn., in June. You'll get instruction and inspiration from all kinds of professional fiddlers. Country, Western swing, bluegrass, newgrass, Celtic, old-time and Texas fiddling are just a few of the styles you can pick up down there. It's pricey (right around $850), but if you walk out of there knowing how to play "Orange Blossom Special," wouldn't it be worth it?

String camp in June with such fiddlin’ experts as the iconic virtuoso Mark O’Connor and chosen company would be a fantastic investment for someone with the inclination, money and time to spend … I’m pretty sure learnin’ how to make an honest attempt at playin’ “Orange Blossom Special” would be just one of the many things a lucky participant would take away from an incredible opportunity to sit at the feet of some of the masters of their craft!

A really good blog, Ms. Bonaguro! … too bad the majority of ones who generally respond to your blogs have no clue (OR interest) - in who (or what) - you are talkin’ about this time … their loss, for sure … :( :( :(
