Gone Country 3: Taylor Dayne
Taylor Dayne is one of the celebrities participating in this season of Gone Country 3. She shares her thoughts about the upcoming experience.
My name is Taylor Dayne. In 1988 Tell It To My Heart was my first record released and it went on to sell many, many millions of records. I had four top ten singles off that first record including "Don't Rush Me" and "I'll Always Love you." The next records had "With Every Beat of My Heart," "Love Will Lead You Back," "I'll be Your Shelter" and "Heart of Stone." So I've had about 17 top ten hits. I just released my latest record, Satisfied, and got my 17th top ten hit with "Beautiful," which is very exciting, and we're in the middle of doing remixes and releasing the second single which was written by Greg Alexander from the New Radicals and Rick Knowles, a big record writer and producer. It's called "My Heart Can't Change," and I'm re-recording my greatest hits, and I'm recording two new songs for that. I'm also working on some television opportunities, actually my own show in general. I think TV is really the new radio, without a doubt.
I know the producers involved in this production and we've talked on many different levels. I watched the first episodes, I saw some of the second, and I just feel that the caliber of artists that are getting involved in this season, from what I was told, I just know it's a good move. I'm really excited about the medium of country music. I've been doing a lot of homework, I've been practicing and studying to be really honest, and it's some exciting music. To me it's almost what pop music used to sound like. So I'm very excited about that, I'm challenged. I've written in Nashville before, I've recorded here with some of my records, without a doubt some of the greatest talent lives here. It's here, L.A. and New York. And I have seen the caliber of the people that John Rich has assigned the artists with. I'm looking to write a song of that kind of caliber. That's the only way it's going to cross over and have any appeal on country radio. But that's the kind of artist I am anyway, that's the kind of singer I am. The interesting thing is I don't know if a lot of my fans will be watching CMT, but the beauty is to get new fans. And to build a different kind of audience base, but it's not like they don't know who I am here, I mean I sang some of those great songs, those great writers have written for me and I've collaborated with them and written songs. You can't fool audiences, you can't fool them into loving you. You can do tricks and work on your image and stuff, but music will always stand the test of time. So you've got to write a great song, there's no way around it.

Gal, you can sing. I am going to go and buy your album.
What are you going to write your song about? I think you would be great singing a Gretchen Wilson Song. I think you both have that soulfulness to your voice. I hope you win. I am looking foreward to listening to your music.
Troy says:
Go Taylor. You have the greatest voice in the world. All the best -
Gene says:
Go Taylor. Yes, your fans are watching you on the show and sending a lot of love your way in the hopes that this will make people stand up and take notice one again. A talent like yours should not be allowed to fade into oblibion. It should be nurtured and brought into the spotlight — or back into the spotlight again.

I would just like to say how excited I am to see Taylor Dayne participate in this challenge. A vocalist myself, I cut my teeth on the examples of strong female artists such as Taylor, and they have driven and encouraged me to challenge myself and branch out in musical directions I never thought I could. My husband and I grew up singing at family and friend’s weddings. We are now part of a close-knit group of friends who adore singing at local karaoke spots. Surprisingly, country music has become a regular part of our singing experience. And it has ultimately furnished us with a more well-rounded and versatile sound. If someone like me, who has had very little “formal training” can successfully adopt, and adapt to various vocal stylings and dialects…a refined artist such as Taylor Dayne sure as heck can show ‘em how it’s done. I’d absolutely love nothing more than to tear up a duet with Taylor on stage, whether it be Country or otherwise. I know my voice wouldn’t be what it is today, without her. Thanks for your example! Good Luck!!!
Kelley Lynn says:
Taylor, you have a beautiful soulful voice that people can feel. Fans will follow you, just keep the music close to heart! I believe if you feel it, your fans will feel it too, whether country or pop. Believe in what you sing! God Bless! Kelley
Dusty Halos says:
Taylor, not only are you beautiful and extremely talented
your generosity was SUPREME when you offered to teach Tara
how to breathe! Your are the best!!!
Mary says:
Taylor,
I love the way you and Sheila are being “big sisters” to Tara. You ladies are total class. Too bad Tara didn’t have people like you in her life earlier, maybe she wouldn’t have gotten into trouble. Gone Country 3 is the best yet, can’t wait to see the next episode. Good luck!
LORI says:
PLEASE, PLEASE give Taylor a power country song on the show. Something like Dolly Parton’s “I will always love you.” Or maybe a Martina McBride song. As powerful as Taylor’s voice is she deserves something of that caliber. Best of luck to you Taylor.
Scarfy says:
Give us that country music. You go girl!
Shank says:
Taylor is easily the most boring celebrity on this show. It’s virtually unwatchable.
Londoner (Kentucky) says:
Taylor is by far the best on the show. She has the pipes and can sing virtually anything.
scrawny says:
Your song was absolutely great on the final show. I’ve been a fan since you first came out. Your voice is amazing. How about a duest with Jennifer Nettles?
Kim says:
I really loved your final song; is it on video anywhere or will it be on any new cd’s of yours?
kaye says:
Taylor, I was ‘pullin’ for you, I LOVED your song and as always your VOICE!!!!!!
Dario says:
Dayne Taylor, I´m a big fan of you, especially of that song called ¨”Tell it to my heart”. What a piece of art and heart! Thanks for giving us love in such a way!
