Faith Hill, Billy Ray Cyrus Join Inaugural Fun

Posted: January 14th, 2009 at 3:33 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Faith HillLeave it to politicians to stretch a historical inauguration into a few days of constant entertainment. First, the powers that be announced Garth Brooks and Jennifer Nettles would be there. And now? Add the Cyrus family and Faith Hill to the list. Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter Miley Ray will be performing on Monday (Jan. 19) for the Kids' Inaugural: We Are the Future special that will be televised that night on the Disney Channel. It's probably safe to assume incoming first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama had some say on that one. Then the Mississippi girl will be on The Neighborhood Ball: An Inauguration Celebration on Tuesday (Jan. 20) on ABC. It's going to be a good week for country fans and Democrats alike.

Whoa!! Billy Ray and Miley might deserve the negative comments but Faith Hill?? Come on - I guess no body recognizes a Lady when they see one any more. Sorry Faith just ignore the negativity. Keep doing what you are doing - Wife, Mother and managing a successful career - You go girl!! I’m not happy with who is being put in office but it would be an honor to attend the historical event.

I don’t know about Billy Ray as I haven’t keep up with him…but it’s great that Faith will be performing…she is such a class act and I love her politics….keep us informed as the plans develop. BTW, the press release certainly didn’t compartmentalize the performers but Faith is certainly a great ambassador for country music and always has been…..keep us updated as the plans develop and thanks!

I really don’t think any country singers should be involved in this celebration. Due to the disrespect the Dixie Chicks received from many fans of country music, I believe all country music singers, country and pop should be banned from participating in Great Expectations of a Great, Historic Time in American History. P.S. Faith is not as classy as you think, especially when she acts like a Diva when she gets shunned by Award Shows and yelling at fans because Tim loved getting touched below the belt.

This is great Faith performing on ABC, along with other popular singers. She is one classy lady. They know who is good, that is why she is being aired on TV. WTG Faith!!! After Mr. Obama is president this is the first ball he is going to. UMM…tells you who he wants to see first.

Billy is going to be on Disney with the children. Thank gosh.

You all will watch it, then you’ll come back & complain some more. LOL!

Its called an invitation. I don’t think Faith Hill needs help getting in any door of any party.
And they just added on several people, not just her. Pay attention to the news. And they may still add on more.

There must be a reason why you are all upset, must be your favorite artist didn’t get in. WTG Faith!

Security Nightmare I will agree on, keeping all the fans off of her. LOL!

I’m a conservative, I’m against abortion, listen to country music, and support Obama. I don’t vote against someone based on 1 issue - if I did that then I would never have anyone to support.

There are plenty of country stars who don’t always support the Republican party (especially this Bush administration which has the lowest approval rating in modern history) like Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Shania Twain(she’s Canadian but she still wouldn’t support the Republican party), Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Alan Jackson, and so on and so on…

So there are plenty of country stars who aren’t staunch Republican supporters and who aren’t afraid to say so. A lot of them, as you can see from the list, are major stars. I also think it’s safe to say there are plenty others who don’t want to say they don’t support Republicans for business reasons and others who just say they are Republican simply because it’s just a cultural thing and nothing to do with what they politically believe in. Like LeAnn Rimes and Kellie Pickler act nothing like conservatives, yet they say they support the Republican party.

So to me, I don’t make a big deal out it. Who cares. I just enjoy the good music.

Sugarland, Garth Brooks, James Taylor, will also be performing for Obama’s inauguration. Just some of the country music folks out there in support of our new President.

It shouldn’t matter which party you usually support anyway. The vast majority of Hollywood movies, television shows, music, entertainment out there isn’t made by Republicans. So quit that nonsense about shunning people who don’t support Republicans all the time.

Americans should all rally behind the new President and wish him well. If he does well, so does America.

Frankly, I don’t care what political persuasion an artist is. Either I like the artist and his/her music or I don’t. I don’t vote according to party, OR what my fave thinks. I have a mind of my own. If an artist wants to endorse someone, more power to ‘em- freedom of speech and choice. Anyone worrying about a bandwagon voter because of what a celeb/artist endorses is a sheeple. I vote people and issue, not party, and like Peter says, not one candidate offers everything I want, I simply select those qualities and issues most important to ME. To each his/her own.

    God bless America!

I can see why Garth Brooks and Jennifer Nettles were asked to participate at the Ball. I am however, disgraced by Miley Cyrus and Faith Hill. So should all country music fans and Nashville.

love faith hill think she is a great singer, mother and role model. i agree with the person who said maybe there fav. stars were not asked so now they are upset or just plain mad. every single thing that has to do with country music or music in general does not have to do with all the same artist, like cu. or ts.so just let them faith and the rest that are singing that night have a good time most of you people are just plan mean!

We are looking forward to seeing Faith in this concert. In Canada we love Faith and Tim. It was because of them and our own Shania Twain that made myself and friends start listening to country music.(We all have their CDs). In our opinion they have open doors for new artist like Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. We loooovee Taylor Swift music.

Have to admit its kinda funny how Billy Ray Cyrus and Faith Hill think they are SUPERSTARS now since they probably havent had a song in 5 years. And Faith Hill living in HOLLYWOOD?? Cmon thats no more country than Tiny Tim singing Opera. Whatever they are being paid to be there its too much

I think it is a huge honor for Country Music to be ask. I am so glad to see Faith, she has an wonderful voice and is beautiful. For some reason people do not like you when you hit the top. Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus are there by invitation just like all the rest. There is a reason they are making millions people like them. Just not the ones that sit here and answer blogs all day as I do also. I can not waite to see all of them…We are so fortunate to have Country Music.

To be perfectly honest, no one really cares about the Country Music singers. They care more about the legendary Bruce Springsteen that has followed and performed during his campaigning. All eyes are on Barack Obama and his Rock Stars Contributions. They are the reason for CHANGE!

Point of information, Faith has had 2 no. 1 songs in the last 5 years (Mississippi Girl on the country charts in 2005 and A Baby Changes Everything on the AC charts in 2008) plus her Fireflies album sold over 2.3 million in the states….and many stations play her songs…in fact, my station play four of her songs in a 4 hour spans this afternoon (The Way You Love Me, Cry, Take Me As I Am, and Mississippi Girl), yesterday they played Sunshine and Summertime and Breathe…both her older and more recent songs are in the rotation on a lot of country stations….and her Christmas CD was the best selling holiday CD from a country artist in 2008 (although on that point I would agree that it is more big band than country, but no more so than Bing Crosby’s White Christmas which an awful lot of country stations played this year…..she has the credentials, the talent, and the presence to make country proud during the Inaugural Events…

hi darren, buy the cd. it was on the radio during the christmas season and will be back next year and the years to come, it is that good. sure if you aren’t the next popular thing to come around, your radio play will be scarce. just see how they don’t play some of the other singers, like loretta lynn and other too numerous to mention. doesn’t mean they aren’t talented, radio is on to the next popular thing, good or bad.

…To the person who wrote this, are you kidding. Where do you get your info? Carrie Underwood has stated she will not talk Politics or say who she supports. I have never heard Keith say who he supports. Why does it surprise you that Shania would support a Dem just because she is Canadian. Canada is a very Liberal Country. Alan Jackson has never said he does not support George Bush. I have seen pics of him at the White House with the President. I have been a fan of Dolly for years, and she has never stated her Political Party of choice. Same thing goes for Alison Krause. Garth has stated the reason he is doing this, is in respect for the last 8 years of service President Bush has given our Country and for the service Obama will give.

I cannot give my money to anyone in the entertainment industry (if I know about it) who shows support for this most extreme radical liberal Socialist to EVER be elected to the presidency. I will boycott their music or movies. Just look at what these people stand for and their supporters. They support the complete ban of guns, pro-abortion, thought control legislation, sodomite marriage, no free speech except theirs (so-called Fairness Doctrine), etc. Among their supporters are Hanoi Jane, Hamas, every Muslim group that I know of, the most radical liberals known– Kerry, Kennedy, etc.

I must say that I was baffled by the blogger who said he was a pro life conservative and that he supported Obama???
He also said he wasn’t just a “one issue” voter.
On what other issue is Obama conservative? He is for the redistribution of wealth, nationalized health care, big government, and has appointed as secretary of the treasury, a man who didn’t pay income taxes for four years but will make sure that the average Joe pays his.
Obama also received support from and made speeches at Planned Parenthood forums where he promised that one of his first acts as president would be the passing of the Freedom of Choice Act which would remove all restrictions on abortion through all nine months of pregnacy. He also supports partial birth abortion and the withholding of medical treatment to babies who refuse to die and are born alive despite attempts to abort them. It is my view that the right to life is one of the fundamental rights we have as humans and is granted by God and guaranteed in the constitution. With out life, all our other rights are meaningless. So, to the pro life Obama supporter- say you are star struck, say you like Obamas’ positions on the issues, say whatever, but please don’t say you are pro-life because it appears your convictions are easily abandoned when the popularity band wagon rolls by.

It is nice to see not everyone has jumped on the ‘Lets all support this President, no matter what’ band wagon. I was starting to think I was the only one on these boards who was not star struck by Obama. I just wished these people would have ‘practiced what they preached’ when Mr Bush was President. They love the First Amendment when it meant they could speak out constantly against George Bush, but now the rest of us are supposed to stay quite ‘For the good of the Country’. If you don’t, then you are called a right wing hater. I have never spoken in anger about a Politician I disagree with, can all of you Dem’s say the same thing.
Don’t expect all Republicans to sit idly and keep their mouth shut for the next 4 years, that would be ridiculous.

If you can’t question or be critical of someones’ policies because of the color of their skin, that, in itself, is racist. If we are in a truly post racial society he should be evaluated just like any other president and judged by the content of his character, not his skin color.

“A Baby Changes Everything” Yes I believe Our Creator would agree with that song title! Let’s not just make another song to make millions and not practice what we sing about! I NEVER would agree to call “LIFE” a “Choice”! Once you whitness a video of partial birth abortion you will be forever changed. God help us for what we are doing to His “Creations” that we are referring to as “Choices”!

i definetly agree with shannon! life isnt a choice for goodness sake, think of the potential!!! it makes me really mad that abortion is legal in this country. i beleive that obama is going to destroy everything good that bush did that was good! granted, bush wasnt the BEST prez, but considering the circumstances, he did a good job, and obama is going to be the worst president that we ever had.
