Is Lady Antebellum Up to Kenny Chesney’s Challenge?
At a Lady Antebellum performance that I caught last fall, it was clear that they were more than capable of opening a show. Jason Aldean was the headliner, but if you had shown up early, you wouldn’t have known it, since the crowd was on its feet and singing along. The trio will need that experience when they hit the road along with Miranda Lambert for Kenny Chesney’s Sun City Carnival tour this summer. These will be some of the biggest shows Lady A has ever played, probably exposing them to upwards of a million fans by the end of the season. It will be a test, for sure, and will be interesting to see how they fit in. Chesney’s tours are known for their party atmosphere, and songs like Lady A’s “Lookin’ for a Good Time” seem tailor-made for that scene. But can they keep up the energy and kick off the show with a bang every night? I think so, how about you?

I think that they can. But they need all time they can get so they can be as good as they are on stage now. And they can get more fans over the tour if they keep doing what they are doing now.

Good group with a bright future.

Lady A puts on a great show. I have no doubt that they’ll be perfect for the Kenny Chesney tour. The majority of their songs are upbeat, which will help them out even more on the road!
Ken says:
I have seen them twice in the past two years and both times in my opinion they out shined who they were opening for. It will be interesting to see if miranda can build on to the electricity that Lady A starts or will it fizzle.
Kevin says:
I dont think you have to worry about whether Miranda will add to the electricity or not. She will definitely have the crowd on their feet.
Kevin says:
btw, I think I was at the Lady A show that the picture on this blog was taken at. They were great
Jeannie says:
I have seen Lady A twice in Atlanta and I was blown away both times. I bet by next year this time, they will be headlining. The have great songs, great voices, great presence and you can tell they love what they’re doing. They hook you in on the very first song and hold you tight! I LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

I am seeing them sandbar at Gillette stadium….. I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really feel an opening act is supposed to support the “Headliner” not try to steal their thunder. Opening for Jason Aldean was a wonderful experience for Lady Antebellum but the press has boosted Lady A’s efforts by down-playing Jason Aldean’s roll…and Lady A (or their people)could have stopped that type of negative publicity early on but instead they feed on it (guess it is part of the business but I have been at Rascal Flatts concerts when Jason Aldean had 15,000 on their feet but he knew that was what he was suppose to do and respected the fact that Rascal Flatts was “Headliner” and made the crowd and the press aware of that). I think Lady A is a very talented trio…but I am from the old school and believe what goes around comes around and that you should treat people like you would like to be treated. I have to admit…I feel that in this world integrity matters and that is why I support Jason Aldean and he is my favorite artist!
Janelle says:
Shirley, you make absolutely no sense. Because Lady A is talented means they should ask that their fans and supporters tone down their enthusiasm because they happen to have more success than Jason Aldean? How is this stealing thunder? So if Jason Aldean opens up for Kenny Chesney and starts getting more awards than Kenny and more spotlight, he should quit the tour because he is stealing thunder? Oh please.
Give me a break. How does this have anything to do with integrity? Shirley, you seem like a bitter fan. And face reality that although Jason Aldean is good (not even close to great), he is not nor will ever be superstar quality. Lady A has that potential, and that potential is already being recognized.

Shirley says:
Since your comment was directed to me…I will direct mine to you…Janelle, you did not read what I said before you lashed out but that is of little consequence. I am sure the people it was directed to will know what I meant. I didn’t even pull this article up for Lady A…I search for articles about Jason Aldean and that is how I got this article, so even in this press they (the originator of the article)are using Jason Aldean’s fans. I don’t hunt down reasons to state how I feel but I do when the opportunity presents itself and then I feel free to comment which is my prerogative; maybe I should have said “in my opinion”…I did not say they stole Jason Aldean’s thunder, I do not feel that they did. The CMT Tour went very well considering all the facts and he didn’t quit the tour, it ended. I do believe that he did not get the press he deserved for his first “Headliner” tour but that my opinion. He has traveled the same path as other newcomers with all the accolades and opportunities and has handled it admirably! The statements you made about me were inappropriate because I am not a bitter fan, I am a very happy Jason Aldean fan because unlike you, I believe he is GREAT with talent and integrity.
Janelle says:
Shirley, everybody gets the press that they deserve. If he was more accepted, he would be a bigger star and be getting more press. Just like Lady A is right now. Nobody has downplayed his role, but Lady A is a bigger and more shining star. Please don’t misunderstand me, because I feel Jason Aldean is a good performer and artist, but far from a great performer and artist. The proof is in the pudding. Not realizing or seeing that is what makes you bitter when you, without any basis, bring up the word “integrity”. Integrity has nothing to do with it. In fact, if Lady A didn’t have integrity, they would dump this tour and join on with some A-Listers. You just don’t get it.
Jason Aldean is good, but far from great. If he was meant to have mega success it would’ve happened by now. He is not or ever will be on a Chesney, Paisley or Urban level, but more like James Otto or Zac Brown or maybe Billy Ray Cyrus. The fans have spoken loud and clear on this. Why can’t you see this? Sorry but I just call it like I see it. It is okay to be a fan, but it seems like you are living in a fantasy world on this.

Lady A at Gillette Stadium is going to rock! I will be there too!
Earl says:
Shirley, It seems to all of us that you spend waaaay to much time on absurdity. There a plenty of people who have more talent in their big toe then an opening act and quickly rise on to stardom above and beyond the opening act. Using your logic, they have no integrity and are classless is stupid. I think that you are the type that spends their entire work day trying to peddle (or pummel) your views on others and if your views are not accepted it just ruins your day. Get a grip, trust me you will enjoy life better. :)
