Merle Haggard Feels Railroaded by Green Train
There are a lot of country stars I think you could fool. But Merle Haggard’s not one of them. Yet the people at environmental-activist group Green Train allegedly tried and forged Hag’s signature on letters of support to Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Amy Grant and Jewel. So he’s suing them. Haggard admits that he gave the group $20,000 and appeared at a fundraiser but claims his support for the questionable charity stopped there. His attorney told The Tennessean, “Mr. Haggard felt he could not sit back and do nothing, once he concluded that people had been misled by the use of his name and identity.” It looks like injuctions and restraining orders are involved, making the whole lawsuit sound like the start of a good ol’ country song about wrong doin’, cheatin’ and law breakin’.

I don’t understand Dan’s post.
Julio E says:
Everyone involved is great people! The intentions were right and what has happened leads to the fall of the world as we know it! Get on board. It is time America wakes up to issues that reside outside of the courts!
karen says:
The people involved may be great people. But I think the issue is Merle not giving permission to let them use his name. People that forge signatures don’t sound like such great people to me. It seems like Merles ONLY solution IS to go to court.
Rose Shebelski says:
I am not familiar with the Green Train, but I would say shame on these people that forged a signature without the permission of Merle to let them use his name. How good can this group be if they are dishonest. I would question where the money is being spent and where it is going? shame on you.
MrBulky says:
Merle worked very closely with the staff of The Green Train for months, and was deeply involved, as were people at every level of his organization. He knew exactly what was going on, had a lot to do with deciding the form and direction of the project, and the idea that this nonprofit was trying to hijack his endorsement is just ridiculous. I don’t know what he’s thinking. It interesting that the only public comments on all this are from Merle’s lawyer, and not Merle himself.
Frank A. says:
It’s too bad Merle’s illness has clouded his mind and lowered his morals from realizing his attorney appears to be spear heading such a frivolous attack on a project and his previous partner. Merle the truth will come out and you will likely be shamed and proven to be wrong in your statements regarding your involvement in the Green Train not to mention the accusations of mishandling of donations. Bob Wolf is a reputable person who with your partnership formed a great organization with a world changing idea; that being to heighten the awareness of preservation for our future. With this simple but enormous message, our world could and will be a better place when the project kicks off.
I also believe it’s not too late. You can come to your senses and stop this foolishness. Contact Bob your long time friend and work it out. Don’t let the attorneys destroy either of you, your families, reputations or the project. The message you both sought to send out is far too important to the world and the people who live in it.
