Sigh. Brad Paisley has a new album coming out in early September and to be honest, I couldn't care less. Because it's an instrumental album called Play. Even though he's the CMA's male vocalist of the year, he won't be singing on the majority of the tracks. He'll just be playing guitar. And to make matters worse, he won't even be limiting himself to country guitar. There's allegedly some jazz and metal songs on there, too.

So, attorneys for the Black Crowes are coming after Gretchen Wilson for copyright infringement. They say that her song "Work Hard, Play Harder," used in a promo for TNT's Saving Grace, is just a little too much like the Crowes' "Jealous Again." I have to say, the verses sound rather similar, but so what? I mean, we're talking about songs with a couple of chords and a melody line. Occasionally, somebody is bound to write one that's like somebody else's. Plus, this probably happens a lot more often than we hear about, and most of it probably gets settled out of court. I can think of a couple of country songs from this year alone that sound like they've been used before. But such is life in a business of selling feelings and ideas. No word on whether the Rolling Stones plan to sue the Black Crowes for copying their entire career.

I've never been the kind of girl who feigns interest in football to please a man. The games are violent, tedious and complicated. To me, anyway. But now that Faith Hill's going to be singing the theme song for NBC's Sunday Night Football, I may change my tune. If I do watch, I'll get to hear Hill belt out "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" before each game. That may be enough to pique my interest. At least until the game actually starts.

If you ever get a chance to see Reckless Kelly and Micky & the Motorcars on the same night, grab some extra money for T-shirts and go. The last time they came through Nashville, it was almost overwhelming, all that greasy Texas music pumping through the Exit/In. One band has two Braun brothers, and two of their brothers are in the other band. Sorry if that's confusing -- and sorry for partying, as Reckless Kelly likes to say. And now that they both have new records, I've been getting a daily dose of Austin's finest.

For the little girl in all of us, Kellie Pickler is now available for playing dress-up. She's one of the latest singers to grace the virtual pages of Stardoll.com, and she stands ready in her virtual bra and underwear waiting for you to play stylist. You can put her in a strapless white mini-dress or jeans and her trademark red high heels. My only complaint is that unless you join and earn points to buy them, she doesn't come with cowboy boots.

Wow ... it's like Colorado on steroids ... land of a billion Christmas trees. Huge rivers and mountains ... windy roads. This was our first stop in a country where English is not the main language ... new money to grapple with as well. Stopping at a truck stop for some much needed food, I discovered that even trying to figure out which is the "ladies'" and which is the "men's" is a little difficult. ... The safest way I found was to just wait until someone walked out of one or the other!

Steel drums are no substitute for a steel guitar. Somehow, though, that doesn't matter on a Kenny Chesney song. His distinctive voice manages to pick up where the not-so-country instruments leave off. Like on his newest single, "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven," which will be released on Aug. 10. One that I'm guessing will be at the top of the charts by sometime in September. Not because of these been-there-done-that calypso beats but because of the song's sentiment. The hook here is that everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to go now. How can you argue with that?

Can You Duet was a big event for CMT. Many viewers took a real liking to the contestants -- even the ones who didn't win. Comments are still rolling in about the way it ended, the judging during the show and, most importantly, what's happening with the rest of the cast. Joey + Rory, a husband and wife duo and my personal favorites, had a huge following right up until the end, and some predicted that they would still end up with a record deal even though Caitlyn & Will took home the grand prize. Well, it looks like those people were right because Vanguard/Sugar Hill Records has announced that Joey + Rory have signed a recording contract and plan to release their debut album in the fall of 2008. Better still, "Cheater, Cheater," a song they performed on the show, will be the first single and a video should be out soon.

You could wait until Keith Anderson's tour bus rolls through your town. Or you could decide there's absolutely no way you're that patient and you must see him ASAP. Then you could win a trip for two to see him in Louisville, Ky., on Aug. 24. Airfare and hotel accommodations are included. Hurry, though, because the deadline to enter is Aug. 3. And with a fan base like his, you'll probably have some XXL competition.
