Miranda Lambert Loves Ashton Shepherd
The Washington Post recently named Ashton Shepherd's debut album its album of the year. Not country album of the year, mind you. Album of the year, period. That's how good it is. Miranda Lambert loves it, too, telling the Post, "The first time I heard Ashton Shepherd's voice, it's like she reached out of the radio and grabbed me. ... I love that in her music you hear her life and the down-home feel of her lyrics. She is perfectly unpolished. The fact that she is a redneck, beer-drinkin' chick from Alabama, I mean what's not to love?" The story also has a few fun facts about Shepherd I hadn't heard before: She lives in a single-wide trailer, does phone interviews with her son on her lap, she can't read music and she loves Jamey Johnson's "In Color" so much she got chill-bumps all over herself the first time she heard it.

Annie says:
I love Ashton Shepherd. She is amazing, so is Jamey Johnson and Miranda Lambert! It is so great to see artists like these still playing on the radio! Keep it up!!!
Sincerely!
Annie
SJ says:
And these are the two women who can actually call themselves Country music singers. With time, Ashton and Miranda will see the absolute success they deserve.
Leeann says:
I believe Miranda and Ashton do a Merle song, “The Way I An”, together that was floating around on Youtube awhile back. Good stuff. Can’t post links here though.
Big AJ fan says:
Thanks Leeann, I found the video. It was good. Both of these young women have distinctive voices. Just like all the greats. You either love ‘em or hate ‘em but you can’t ignore them.
Vicki says:
These are two of the finest country voices around but more importantly, two of the best country songwriters as well.
Courtney says:
I absolutely love these two. In my opinion, Miranda Lambert is one of the best songwriters in country music. I wish country radio would play some of her songs that were not as pop-py so people could see that she’s not just a pop-country singer. Same goes for Ashton. I loved ‘Takin’ off This Pain’ and ‘Sounds So Good’, but she definitely has songs on her album that have a more traditional country sound. I would love to see these two go on tour together. I wish the two of them all the luck in the world. Lord knows they deserve it.

Hey Alison, sorry to write about this here, but I tried to reach you via your admin addy but it came back to me as undeliverable. I was wondering if you looked into the Mark Chesnutt blog. I notice there is a new comment (now 166) but it still is blacked out after about the 158th or so. Is it my computer, or is there a limit on comments that can be accessed? I would like to know in case it happens again on another blog down the road- even though I’d like to read remaining comments too. Thank you!
PS, I’m just okay with Ashton, LOVE Miranda.
Kevin says:
countryiscool, I havent counted the comments on the Mark Chesnutt blog, but I think they are all showing up for me.
Kim says:
Wow. hope she tricked the trailer big time! i really have her album too.
countryiscool says:
Kevin, whose is the last comment?
countryiscool says:
Kevin, I just now counted, 158 is where the comments end.

I love Miranda new song “More Like Her” Will be fun to see how far Ashton gets. It is not always the good voices that make it which is very sad.
