Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus Take On the Wildhorse
Wanna catch a glimpse of the sought-after teen queen Miley Cyrus? Start going to her dad's concerts. I'm not saying she'll be at every single one, but she had enough downtime on her schedule to pencil in his show at Nashville's Wildhorse Saloon on Saturday night (Dec. 27). She stayed the whole time, dressed way down in a grungy-but-cute style, and hung with boyfriend/model/Nashville Star contestant Justin Gaston. (He also goes by "Romeo" to country fans because of his role as such in Taylor Swift's "Love Story" video) Miley even took to the stage to help Billy Ray out on their duet "Ready, Set, Don't Go."

Sorry, but who cares? I’d be OK with this blog if Miley was a country artist on country radio. Yes, her dad was country, but he hasn’t had a song out in years, much less a song that has gotten any publicity on the country charts. But, Miley is NOT a country artist, and her dad WAS one, but he hasn’t had much success in the genre.

Your welcone…Cyrus is the topic, but her pictures are not meant to be the topic. Yes, she did do those pictures, so your post does relate to her, but the blog brought up her music. So, your post relates to her, but since the pics aren’t brought up, that’s probably not what this forum was meant for.

Miley wouldn’t be where she is without her fathers fame? Ridculous. First of all, Miley is 16, she has to be 18 before she can determine what happens with it. She’s not 18, therefore her PARENTS handle her money.
He is not the reason his daughter is acting…she is the reason HE is acting? Hannah Montana, anyone? He has appeared on the show numerous times, and that’s all because of Miley. His show Doc was a huge faliure, if he could “act” without Miley he’d still have his own show. Guess what? He doesn’t…He controls his daughter’s millions and acts on her show because his failed.

I love Billy Ray and have for over 16 years. His concerts are the best you will ever see. He just had an album debut at number 3 on the country charts this past year. (the Video was number 13 for the year on CMT) and another one coming out in the next month or two,what are you talking about hasn’t had an album in years. He’s had several great ones. Just because they didn’t get air play because he doesn’t fit in with Nashville doesn’t mean anything, just ask George Jones, Dolly, Tammy, or dozens of others. If you don’t fit into the mold anymore or you’re not a Kenny, Tim, Faith, and Toby) you don’t get airplay. As far as the show Doc being a failure, it was the channels highest rated show for all the 5 years that it was on. He just did a really funny movie for USA with Bill Engval. A movie with Heather Locklear and Patricia Neal called Flying By (named from a song on his last album)and he is filming one right now with Jackie Chan and George Lopez. Just because you aren’t fan doesn’t mean we aren’t out here. We are among the hundreds of thousands that have been in his fan club since it started. The ones that go everywhere for concert after concert, that buy the cds, movies, t-shirts, posters, and hats. We love him and support the entire family because of it, and will never stop.

Agust- I don’t know much about the Cyrus family, so I’m sorry if I appeared mean-sprited. But, I stand by what I orginally said: unless you exclusivly follow Billy Ray, it is difficult to know he has been that successful. Yes, I’m sure he does have a lot of accomplishments, but I follow country music, read country magazines, and watch country shows, but I hardly hear about anything he does.
I NEVER bashed Billy Ray, either. I’m just a little annoyed that his daughter (not a country artist) is being mentioned, as well as Billy Ray, who hasn’t exactly been in the country limelight lately. I wouldn’t have a problem with this blog if it maybe mentioned what he is doing next in country music, or when his next single will be out to country radio. But a blog on a country music website should update us on country artists, not thier daughters.
And, being immature has nothing to do with being a songwriter, musican or parent. It has to do with how you handle comments. Do you say, “OK, I don’t agree with you, but here’s what I think…” Or, do you write in all caps and throw profanties and people because they don’t agree?
Your opinion about maturity may be different, but judging by the way you’ve treated by comments in this blog, I’d guess you have a different view.

“country music website”??? Do you really believe that? Have you explored the cmt website at all? This website(cmt) features more than just Mainstream Pop Music(country or otherwise). Nearly everyone I listen to is featured here too. So that means it also covers Americana, Alternative, Red Dirt, Roots Rock, and many others. And even to the farthest extreme as one can get…did you know Marilyn Manson has an artists page,and message board here at cmt too? So does Jimmy Sturr. As does Rage Against The Machine, as does Celine Dion. Please don’t limit yourself to fit your needs.
