Hip-Hop Star, T-Pain, Wants in With Tim McGraw
First Nelly. Now Chris Brown. Is Tim McGraw ever going to stop collaborating with rap stars? According to E! Online, not just yet. After getting all chummy on a recent Saturday Night Live appearance, McGraw and T-Pain are getting ready to hit the studio. I know, I know. It's an awful idea. In theory. But this one has some good ol' country potential. "The hip-hop has been done with Tim and Nelly, so we gotta be more country than hip-hop," T-Pain says. God willing, there will be no remakes of T-Pain's "I'm N Luv (Wit a Stripper)." And while I can't ever picture McGraw in rapper bling, I could totally see T-Pain in a cowboy hat. Remember, T-Pain had his eye on country music earlier this year.

Blaine says:
Two T’s in a pot. Now that’s what I call “country music”.
FastFred says:
Bringing this Hip Hop culture in to Country Music is a disgrace,if you don’t sing Country and truly believe in it,stay away !Even the style clothes is a disgrace.Being a Country Boy Myself I find the Hip Hop culture offensive.I want Country Music to stay as good as it is and to stay a great American Tradition.
Gladys says:
I like Tim’s song with Nelly. Go for it Tim, but you better hit a home run.
RedMaZ says:
I have a hard time seperating the two. They will both represent Mainstream Pop Country for what it is. Maybe they will do a tour also. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? They could call it…”A Pain in the two T”. Whoa Nelly…
Laine says:
Tim should be ashamed of himself. I know he likes to venture out but for goodness sake, all he is doing is adding more rap to country. Soon country will be taken over by rock and rap stars. It will be Tim’s fault. I guarantee music row will never let him forget it either.
TJ says:
I guess we know what yall think of Cowboy Troy… Leave Tim alone! Some artists should have so much courage! And please tell me what CMT’s Crossroads series is about if nothing but fusing Country music with other genres? Taylor Swift and Def Leppard! How more opposite can you get? Get off Tim McGraw’s back. He must be real hott to get so many haters! And some of you should just be honest and plainly state, you don’t want black people on music row!
hotelmotel says:
Unfortunately, I have to agree with TJ - though some dislike of rap may be based on its sound or lyrics, I think a lot of the comments I hear on CMT are based in racism.
JT says:
Race has nothing to do with the fact that country music will longer exist if Rappers, Rockers and Pop Tweens take it over. The older singers such as Tim, Faith, Martina, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, George Strait, Brad Paisley among the many will fade away. You can’t tell me they haven’t faded already it’s all in their numbers of singles hits!
Amy says:
I find it fascinating that all these pop, rap, and rock stars want to go country. I don’t think we have to worry that these folks are going to take over country music. CM has the most loyal fan base - AND if we don’t like someone — they won’t be getting any air time at the radio stations.
Rachel says:
I think it’s too easy for other genres of music to flock to Nashville. The reverse of Country Music singers to cross over to Pop, Rock, Soul and Rap is more difficult. Say good bye to Country Music Forever.
TJ says:
Im not a hiphop fan either. But if Tim or any country artist can get together with someone outside their genre and make a good record, I say why not. I just can’t figure out why Tim takes so much heat for his collaborations. He’s not selling out or ruining Country. He’s doing new things and presenting the genre to new listeners. I think he’s one of the greatest ambassadors Country music has.
K says:
Amen TJ! Tarditionalists like to whine too much. So what if country is changing? Country would be nowhere if every female sounded like Loretta Lynn, every male sounded like Cash, and every band sounded like Alabama. Seriously, get with it, or go listen to what you love instead of bash what you hate.
I think pop/rock stars flocking to country for good is a slap in the face, personally. I love when artists step of their boundries and try a duet (Flatts and Foxx, Nelly and McGraw) but I hate when some artist who has been in another genre for dozens of years decides to suddenly declare they “have always loved country” and felt like this was “just the right time” to make the move.
If these people always loved country as they claimed, they would’ve been here in the first place! I think these pop/rock stars know popularity has gone to country in the last few years, that’s why they want to be here.
FastFred says:
My opinion has nothing to do with Race, and as so many others I am really tired of hearing”It must be a Racist Thing” Most People throw that word around and do not even no the true meaning of the word. And for Cowboy Troy,he has no place in Country Music with the songs he is putting out. And as for CMT Cross Roads I do not watch that either. What I tune in to these stations for is Country Music, not a mixture of what CMT considers Country Music.
Christine says:
I noticed that the younger teenage generation GIRLS are headed towards to country or light (or whatever)hip hop. I am around a lot of them. They are not much into T-Pain and a few others. But a lot love Usher because he is not hard rap. Seems like the rap is more out to look for more attention.I am not sure if some of them need it because I don’t care for rap.
But,since Tim is opened to work with just about anyone, they are coming to him. He seems like a nice guy to do that. And because he is popular. But I think it will hurt him in the long run with the CMA’s and other award shows, seems like they go against you when you go outside what you normally sing.
They can do whatever they want I guess. Racism should be left out of this. Whenever there is black & white involved seems like racism is what you hear.
