Kenny Chesney's Rum Needs a New Name

Posted: December 17th, 2008 at 11:45 am  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Kenny ChesneyBoy, that Kenny Chesney sure is full of questions. He wants to know all about me. My age, where I live, my education, what aids my decision in my rum purchases and my ideal alcohol content for my rum. It's all part of his getting-to-know-you survey to help him guide the marketing of his new rum, Vacation in a Bottle. And I can tell him, without a doubt, that his first order of business should be to get rid of that awful name. People want to be proud of what they are ordering in a bar. "Bacardi and Coke" sounds cool. "Vacation in a Bottle and Coke" sounds weird. I would be more inclined and less ashamed to just order a "Chesney and Coke" if need be. So if you're 21, go online and take the survey. And when the questions about the name come up, let him hear what you have to say. The rum is due in stores in 2010, so he has plenty of time to come up with a new and improved name.

I took the survey and I have to say that was tough. Especially the What song is your favorite question. I can’t wait for the Run to come out. I am not a big drinker, but I want to drink a glass of Kenny’s Rum so. In fact I am graduating in 2010, Wooooooooohoooooooooooooooo.

Kenny, baby, I love you with all my heart and soul. BUT your names of things leave a lot to be desired. I know everything has its own personal meaning to you and that’s cool. I’ll still buy the albums and the concert tickets. And, oh yes, even the rum.

Well, I agree that he needs to change the name but I understand the concept behind the name he picked.
I think he should call it KC I would order a KC and diet.
Or go in the store and say do ya’ll sell KC’s rum. That sounds a heck of alot better. But it’s the taste that matters. I took the survey it was fun and a great idea for him to enclude his fans!! That marketing degree has paid off for him time and time again!! LOL! JMO!

I am graduating college in 2010 and this will be my graduation rum! I thought maybe he might’ve gone with Old Blue Chair rum or something. I could use a vacation from this cold & snow and a bottle is sure much less expensive than hotel, tickets, food, etc.

I like Kenny’s music BEFORE he went on the island- like when he first hit the country scene. Is that better “censor?”

Vacation in a Bottle? That’s more of a tag line for the advertising than a name for an actual product. I just hope it’s a quality rum that’s fit to drink, rather than a Bacardi or Captain clone with a KC label.

Official word from Kenny’s fan club -

    Hey Gang-

Despite what is being reported, Kenny’s rum has yet to be named! So, please disregard any unconfirmed chatter that you may hear.

Hope that all of you have a Merry Christmas and Safe and Happy New Year!

Cheryl, Kenny, and all of us in the KCOFC organization!

    “Sell-Out” in a bottle doesn’t sound that great…

So, if not that…then, I’d have to go with Chris N’s suggestion.

“The Good Stuff” has a country flare to it, while still conveying the intent of the original title “vacation…”
