Trace Adkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd Change Their Tune for New Year's Eve
Another one bites the dust, I guess. Another concert cancellation, but this time, it's not because someone's sick or on temporary voice rest. They just couldn't pull it off in this recession. That makes me so sad. Not because I had tickets to this New Year's Eve-apalooza with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Trace Adkins, but because I wonder if this is a sign of things to come. If I had a country music crystal ball, I'm sure it would show a lot of big arena gigs getting the boot. And if I was able to find the silver lining in that economic cloud, it would be that this could be just the thing to get bigger acts back into smaller clubs. I'd take Adkins at a bar over an arena any day.

Maybe they should just realize they’re just not worth it. This greed gravy train is at the end of the line. Last stop…New Years Eve-apalosers.

Ah, a negative post to start this blog off (as usual) I see. Oh well, I rarely go to concerts, listen to my CD’s, some radio, TV, and watch my faves on large screen TV & call it good. It’s not just the price of the tickets, but the drive, (all out of town), gas, parking, traffic, etc. No thanks!

As usual? Most of my replies are positive. Besides that, I see nothing negative about this reply. It’s all good.
a trace gazer from ky says:
The reason for the cancellation was due to low ticket sales. Nashville’s was cancelled by the Sommet, not by Trace or Lynyrd Skynyrd. Trace later opted out of Pikeville’s (the 2nd half of this “tale of 2 cities” event) to stay at home with his family.
Pikeville’s show was A LOT CHEAPER….approx. $100 for the VIP seating. Same show and the same “NYE goodies” given at both venues. You would think that the artists have a set price to do a show, and that price would reflect on the ticket price at the venues. The Sommet holds 10,000-20,000 people…while the Eastern Ky Expo Center holds 7,000. You do the math. Wouldn’t common sense tell you that the venue prices for EKEC be more than the Sommet’s due to the fact that fewer tickets would be sold?
I had my ticket, as did some of my friends. No, they weren’t cheap, but we managed to get them. Now, all of our plans that we had are gone for this one. I am very dissapointed with The Sommet on this one….their greed caused the cancellation of this phenominal event….not the artists.

What is wrong with the clubs, and doing smaller shows…Could you Imagine Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Roy Acuff selling out Arena Shows?
Im only 24 years old, but I also see that the Music industry will be back to artists selling only a few thousand copies, here and there.
Could you Imagine cmt.com and myspace being available to Hank Sr, and Ernest Tubb, They only had limited means to travel and radio was the only medium back in their days…
It’s about the music and the fans, now who can make the most money…
Waylon Jennings had the first million album seller in 1976….
Now it’s something that every artist has to achieve, they should be thankful they are just getting to play their music..

Trace Adkins, Lynyrd Skynyrd Change Their Tune for New Year’s Eve…..This is such a misleading lead in for the story….the author makes it sound like it was the artists initial decision to cancel the concert and not the venue.

Well, as a ticketholder for the Pikeville concert, I wish they had followed Nashville’s lead to cancel the show. I paid $330.80 after fees for two VIP tickets for a nice anniversary gift to my husband, who is a Trace Adkins fan. Because Lynyrd Skynyrd is still coming to Pikeville, we cannot receive a refund.
I did not pay this price to see Lynyrd Skynyrd. Although LS would be a nice bonus to the night, I paid to see Trace Adkins (on my ticket and my receipt). I could have seen Lynyrd Skynyrd last year at Pikeville for less than $30 and didn’t go.
This event is a bust.
Trace Adkins has really lost some fans through this. He should have honored his commitment.
I will never again purchase tickets without wondering whether or not I will get what I paid for. Expensive lesson for me at $148 a pop.

stef..we had tickets as well..but not VIP..I am soooo disappointed..I also bought ours to see Trace with LS as a bonus…ticketmaster just refunded my money via phone 15 minutes ago with no problem…
brndsmth says:
Everyone needs to remember that the venue cancelled the concert in Nashville, not the artists. Trace is rarely home on any given holiday, he gives up most holidays to be on the road doing shows. I’m disappointed for those who didn’t get to see Trace, he’s definitely worth the money. I can’t wait for him to get back on the road in ‘09.
Stef312 says:
FOLLOW-UP: We did receive a refund for this ticket from Ticketmaster. I was so relieved! I am still very disappointed not to have seen Trace. And I still think he should have traveled to Pikeville if the show continued, as it did. Oh well, what’s done is done.

Dealing with food allergies, I sympathize with Trace Adkins. I however, have found treatment that has cured not only me, but others in my community. I’d like to share my information with Trace and his family. Now we can eat all those foods that showed a positive food allergy in blood tests. Amazing. Very simple procedure and affordable. This doctor is conducting seminars to all who are interested. Only in the Western Washington area.
