Darius Rucker Won't Wear a Cowboy Hat
Darius Rucker's well-written songs and memorable voice made a big splash when he entered the country music scene this year. His single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" and the album Learn to Live both hit No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, and he grabbed a coveted performance slot at the CMA Awards. His record didn't come out in time to be eligible for an award, but I'll bet he's one to watch out for next year. To give a little background on how this all happened, Rucker talked with the Washington Post about his decision to move on from Hootie & the Blowfish and about being one of the few African Americans to find success in country. Plus, you'll hear why you won't see him sporting a cowboy hat (anymore).

Obviously there are some discrepencies in that article unless it’s only talking about Pop music. Which isn’t indicated.
Jim C says:
I wish him well in Country Music!
Spenser Parkes says:
I think he is going to be a one hit wonder. Most of his tracks are boring and repeat the same lines over and over.
Eric says:
One hit wonder? He already has 2 hits if you check out the current Billboard country charts. I have followed this guy since ‘94. He is a great performer who will be winning awards again. People will recognize that he can sing anything that he wants. Also… I think all songs repeat themselves whether its Alan Jackson, Reba, or Darius. Verse, chorus, verse, chorus = Song. He will be successful regardless of the haters who have nothing to do but post negativity on blogs. He deserves all the success that is coming his way. The Washington Post article is awesome, and thanks CMT for this article!

I love “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It”. Doesn’t hurt that Keith Urban is singing backup vocals. No wonder I love it. Darrius is very good and I think he is going to be good for years to come. love, peace, and happiness, always cathy

Even though I have certainly heard of Hootie, I never listened to him as a part of his band. I love his voice and his first single. It was also a pleasant surprise when I heard some new stuff on the radio, loved it even before I recognized it was him again. I look forward to new material from him and agree he will be around for years to come.
RedMaZ says:
Hootie is a nice man with a strange name. I wonder what his parents were thinking? I’ll bet he was teased as a kid. Probably still is.
luvncountry says:
Hey Red, what happened to our last 2 posts? I didn’t think there was anything wrong with them.
RedMaZ says:
They’ve been Hootiefied…
luvncountry says:
Well Red, I was going to ask you about a Lane somebody-or-other but can’t find the piece of paper I wrote his name on. I saw his video a few days ago but it’s not one that’s played much I don’t think-maybe an up-and-comer, oh well, probably another Pop country guy trying to break in the biz.
countryrockz says:
Hootie isn’t his real name, just the name of his band (who is still together by the way). Ur dumb.
