Little Big Town Needs No Introduction

Posted: December 10th, 2008 at 11:23 am  |  By: Whitney Self

When I first moved to Nashville, I remember telling my mom to keep her eye on a band called Little Big Town. I said, "They're gonna be big, Mom. Just watch." This was right after I had seen them perform "Bring It on Home" live and before the release of their breakthrough album, The Road to Here, with "Boondocks" and "A Little More You." Their chemistry was undeniable, and their layered sound led to a Grammy nomination this year. "Good Lord Willing" shows a band that thoroughly enjoys one another's company and loves performing together onstage. Even the video's candid moments seem to capture this genuine camaraderie. And though they surely don't need my approval, I'm delighted that Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Roads Schlapman, Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook have found a place to land in country music.

Yes! Great article. It’s about time they get the success they deserve. “A Place to Land” is my favorite album of the year. It’s incredible. “Good Lord Willing” is so good!

PS I said the same thing to my mom about Lady A in the 3rd & Lindsley days :) How funny.

I love LBT! They are touring with Carrie right now and it was a great show in Nashville the other night.

I am surprised CMT didn’t review Carrie and LBT actually. They usually review shows that are in nashville.

LBT is the best group out there in my mind. It’s about time they get the credit they rightly deserve!

LBT is the real deal! They are amazing to hear live.
They should be getting the accolades being heaped upon a few other lesser talented newcomers in Nashville.

Finally, they are getting the credit they need and have been working towards! Let’s hope that GLW will climb the charts!!! They’ve worked really hard to get where they are at and couldn’t have done it without everyone of the fans they have new or old[like me] :)

The video and “Behind The Scences” clips they have in it truley isn’t suprising if you’ve met them and know them. They are totally go-with-the-flow type of people and are hilarious! The video matches their personalites so well :)

Let’s hope GLW gets LBT some big honors!!!

I just checked out Little Big Town. I’m sure they are nice people and everything, and they seem to be better than most Pop acts in Mainstream Country, but I just don’t like that style of music.

    Dear Negative Nancy,

they are not a pop act.

Zelma, if you are talking to me, Pop music is not an induvidual genre, it’s an industry consisting of many genres. If LBT is not a Pop Country act, then you must be claiming they are Roots Country artists? Roots Rock? Americana? Well of course not. That would be ridiculous.

Thank you for posting this blog. They are the best group out there in country music and hardly get the credit they deserve. I’ve seen them live more times than I can count on my fingers, and will continue to support them and their music. The day they win Vocal Group of the year will be a great day for all in LBT land:)
