Alan Jackson, Flatts, Dierks, Land With Brand-Spanking New Videos This Week
Alan Jackson's concept video for his "Country Boy" and Dierks Bentley's rocking "Feel That Fire" lead the charge of new videos debuting for the CMT New Music Video evaluation team this week.
Artist: Alan Jackson
Video: "Country Boy"
Director: Scott Scovill
This is truly Alan and his band out in the country. In this case, it's an old country auto junkyard and Alan sings standing atop a rusted-out old Chevy pickup. Intercut shots depict such favorite country pastimes as water-skiing and catching big-ass catfish.
Comments: "That is the smallest electric guitar Alan's playing I have ever seen." "It may be a Rock Band guitar." "That is such a crisp-looking video." "Alan has still got it."
Artist: Dierks Bentley
Video: "Feel That Fire"
Director: Peter Zavadil
A familiar video beginning -- a hot chick in bed -- gives way to Dierks and band playing live and then Dierks and the young lady out and about in Nashville. See if you think this overall video suggests a young Mary Tyler Moore in Nashville.
Comments: "Love the song." "It looks really good. Beautifully shot." "I especially like the lighting."
Artist: Jason Aldean
Video: "She's Country" (CMA performance)
Director: Paul Miller
It's Aldean's live performance from the CMA Awards show. "She's Country" is another of his bold songs, that's also a feel-good song. He sports a white T-shirt.
Comments: "I love that song." "It kind of feels like a video you would want to watch now and love but maybe not four months from now after you know it." "It's because of the mix, I think."
Artist: Little Big Town
Video: "Good Lord Willing"
Director: Becky Fluke
LBT play live onstage and intercut shots capture them playing and singing the song at different concerts. Great harmonies, dynamic guitars, and the familiar Dobro sound.
Comments: "This may be their next 'Boondocks.'" "I think this really shows their different personalities better." "Love their sound."
Artist: Rascal Flatts
Video: "I'll Be Home for Christmas"
Director: Shaun Silva
Video opens with the Flatts members sitting around an opulent hotel lobby, waiting for their bus so they can make it home for Christmas. Suddenly a brilliant idea strikes! Let's sing a Christmas song! So they do, a cappella.
Comments: "Those boys can sing." "That's gorgeous." "It's not perfect, but it works." "Tells you it's almost Christmas."
Artist: The Raconteurs featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe
Video: "Old Enough"
Director: Autumn DeWilde
Jack White's Raconteurs sat down for a recording session with Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe, in Ocean Way, a former church in a 100+ year-old brownstone building on Music Row, with stained-glass windows intact. The video is visually beautiful. The recording session is completely live. This is a side of Nashville you don't often see.
Comments: "Ashley [Monroe] sounds great." "That's a really good combination of singers." "Jack [White] has proved that he can do what he wants to musically." "Is that part of an album?" "The song is from their new album [Consolers of the Lonely], but this is for a digital single release."
Consensus: Alan Jackson will debut on Dec. 8 as a Hot Shot video. Also added on Dec. 8 as a Hot Shot is Dierks Bentley. Rascal Flatts will enter heavy rotation on Dec. 8. Jason Aldean will go into medium rotation on Dec. 8.

Kim says:
like the Flatts one. If it was perfect it would lose personality. at least they’re good and on key. wish I could be staying in the same hotel and see them do that for real.
Zelma says:
Where can we see the Little Big Town and Dierks Bentley videos????
I love both of those songs, especially Good Lord Willing!
Don’t care for that Rascal Flatts video, why do they keep showing the same road out the bus window?
K says:
The Flatts video is too perfect for words. I’ve honestly been waiting for them to come out with some accapella for years so bashers can see what us loyal Flatts fans have always known. This video proves with no explanation needed that the guys are dedicated, talented, musicans who have gorgeous harmony and can sing the HELL out of anything.
No matter how many mediocre live performances they may have (or have had), this video still PROVES they can SING!! I am thrilled with this version, and am so happy the guys took this risk…way to go boys…
Katie says:
Dierks, Jason and Rascal Flatts. =D
Shar says:
I def think you do not give the man enough credit….More Dierks PLEASE!
iheArttayloRswifT says:
I want to see the Little Big Town video!!!! Put it on the website now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CJ says:
Alan Jackson - I like Country Boy. Alan did it again. You got to love that guy!
K says:
Zelma- The RF video shows the same road, because it’s supposed to give the illusion that the bus is going to towards the hotel to take the guys home for christmas. Make sense?
Zelma says:
Yes, but its BORING…I’d rather see life on the road, not a bus driving to a hotel!
Tim Reynolds says:
Nice post. Thank you for the info. Keep it up.
K says:
That’s true, Zelma, but I think the guys were going for simplicity in this video- the less is more concept. In the video itself, all they’re doing is causally sitting around, and then they decide to start singing. I think showing high-action life on the road would take away from that, you know?
That’s just my opinion though- either way, I think the singing is beautuful…
KAREN K says:
I, too, want to see the Little Big Town video–when can we see it!! I just love Little Big Town and feel that “Fine Line” wasnt given much of a chance–its number 7 in the Top 20 on GAC and has been in the last few weeks! Dierks need new ideals as far as tunnels, etc but thought the girl in the video was cute!! Jason, Alan and the Ricky Scaggs videos were good and I loved the Flatts video–they did a great job!!!
alex says:
The Flatts should have left this video at home! Levox is still the same nasily, whiny singer he has always been. Has he ever used a kleenex in his life?
Mark says:
Faith defines American Beauty? Who is Coty kidding? Then again it is Coty the less than desirable fragrance company saying this. I have never bought a cologne for myself or a Fragrance for my wife from Coty anyway. Coty is a last minute pick up gift from a local Pharmacy stop or a Walmart store. These gifts don’t take much thought.
