Nobody Doesn't Like Alan Jackson
Sometimes when there's a show honoring some big shot, I'll think to myself, "Do that many people really love this guy?" But when I heard about CMT Giants: Alan Jackson, I had the opposite reaction. It makes perfect sense that so many of his country music brethren like George Strait, Brad Paisley, Martina McBride and Lee Ann Womack would get together to honor the man and his music at the Ryman Auditorium in October. Even newer artists like Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift, ones who probably grew up on Jackson's tunes, were there. In his typical aw-shucks style, Jackson said, "It's an honor to be honored. It's very nice, a little bit overwhelming, sort of." If you weren't there for the taping, you can see it all go down Saturday night (Dec. 6) at 9 p.m. ET on CMT.

OMG!! Ive wondered what was wrong with CMT lately! I just found out that its parent company is MTV. That explains everything. I guess we’ll be seeing P DIDDY and FIFTY CENT on here before long. You suck!!
MEL says:
can’t wait for this to air it will be great
MEL says:
this will be one great show
dan says:
Nobody Doesn’t Like Alan Jackson? WELL… i used to but now his new songs???
Valerie says:
Still love Alan Jackson!
CJ says:
Alan Jackson is a legend. I have watched from the very beginning. He has had a wonderful career and I am sure it is not done yet. He can sing a love song as good as a fun up beat song. OMG he is not hard to look at either.
BPAP says:
melinda reilly — i’m confused…i’m pretty sure that CMT has ALWAYS been owned and operated by MTV Networks [or more generally Viacom]…. so why are you so concerned that P Diddy and 50 Cent will be on CMT.. and what does that have to do with Alan Jackson?
RedMaZ says:
I’m sure he’s a nice person, and has had some good songs, but personally I have no interest in listening to him anymore. I have a few of his CD’s, but never listen to them. One was a gift I never opened. If I wanted to listen to him on the radio, I’d have to listen to a Pop Country station, and I’m certainly not going to do that. I guess you could say I’ve moved on to the “other” Country Music. More so in the last 15, 20 years than ever.
melinda reilly says:
BPAP,
I just learned that CMT was owned by MTV, and I saw what managment has done with MTV. I grew up on it….when the music was good, in the 80’s.
As for the reason Im raising hell here, I cant find a contact e-mail for CMT, and this was the closest venue I could find.
AJ is alright with me.
Leeann says:
Ew…the eighties?:)
luvncountry says:
RedMaz, I asked you on another blog if you are the one on the message boards looking for lyrics to a song. Let me know.
melinda reilly says:
Yes Leeann, the 80’s. You’re probably not old enough to remember a time when we didnt elect black, socialist muslims to political office, and…. oh nevermind, those days are over.
CJ says:
I thought this blog was about Alan Jackson. He has had an awesome long career. He is a very humble man. More should be like him. I can not waite for the show tonight.
Big AJ fan says:
I’m not a fan of Taylor and was dreading what she would do to Drive but I don’t think she did bad at all. I’m giving her a thumbs up tonight.
The whole show was great. Alan is the sweetest, humblest star ever. His speech was wonderful and his performance of Remember When was especially poignant.
Big AJ fan says:
Oh and BTW Alan’s daughter are fans of Taylor and that may have had something to do with her being invited to perform.
robbie says:
i have written a song that i think should be performed by kelly pickler but don’t know how to get it to her please help
bkb says:
george strait and martina did a fantastic job on their songs martina even got the honor of sitting behind alan and his family. swift got by on her singing of drive.heaven for bid of they gave her a more complicated song to sing,
vcp says:
I really enjoyed the show. I thought all the different people they brought together for this one man was fantastic. I really enjoyed George, also Carrie’s videotaped message, the scripted stuff was well presented but when she spoke of him from her own experience it was very heart felt and real. Congrats Alan.
CJ says:
I saw the show and thought it was very good. All the stars did a great job. George Strait and Brad always sing out of this world as Alan does. I think it is amazing that Alan wrote that many of his songs. What a wonderful spirit he has. Taylor I think was out of place at this. The girl is beautiful but leaves a little to be desired in singing. She is very far from country. I think it is terrible how these new people are pushing the really good singers out. I also watched Faith Hill last night and her voice is absolutely beautiful. All she needs is her beautiful voice to hold the crowd. Carrie is the same way…..She has a beautiful voice. I am sure you noticed the comment by George Strait about him and Alan being concerned about the Triditional country being left by the way side. Not exact words but what he ment….
otto says:
yeah, Melinda. oh, and by the way…. we still haven’t elected a Muslim to office…… not that that’s a bad thing.
Mattias says:
