Carrie Underwood Still Gets Nervous in Nashville

Posted: December 4th, 2008 at 12:34 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Carrie UnderwoodIf I had to perform in front of an audience of my blogging peers, I'd be nervous too. So I can't blame Carrie Underwood for admitting her anxiety level is a little high right now. She's set to perform Sunday night (Dec. 7) at Nashville's Sommet Center. She told The Tennessean that the crowd banter between songs is one of the hardest parts of headlining. "How do you have a conversation with several thousand people? I think I'm a lot better now and a lot more comfortable onstage. Just accepting the fact that those people are there to see me has helped." She adds that even talking about behind-the-scenes stuff, like what she had to eat that day, gives the crowd a taste of her personality. Still, the adrenaline rushing through her veins tends to end up in her leg. "Sometimes my left leg will shake uncontrollably if I am really nervous," she said. If you feel like a trip to Nashville this weekend, quality seats are still available.

Seen her show and it is good, but yes all her worst critics will of course be there to pick her apart on there blogs and in their papers the minute the show is done. Carrie has said it many a times that haters will hate but she loves what she does and as long as she is happy and her fans are happy the rest of the opinions don’t matter, so when all the negativity about how she needs to grow, and her stage presence etc. all that has been said before, she will still be on top not listening or reading what the hater’s have to say, cause she is way to humble in her humility.

Carrie Underwood is a great singer and she sings with heart!

Idol or no Idol the girl is good at what she does you can’t teach that. If you could Taylor Swift could maybe learn how to sing her own songs.

Thank you for all of the Carrie Underwoods sadly they are not very many of her. Saying that we should support the few that do have what she has like the greats like Dolly, Reba, Faith, Martina, Miranda Lambert, Jessica Andrews, leanne Rimes, and all the greats that came before them.

All of these people are true talents and the real thing.

Actually Carrie’s tour is listed as one of the top 20 tours of all genres (#14). Reviews indicate that Carrie puts on a fantastic show and the majority of her concerts are sell-outs and the one’s that aren’t miss it by very little. Talk about fast tracking. A successful headlining tour after only 3 years in the business. She is certainly doing better than other tours being headlined by seasoned stars and with more supporting acts. The overwhelming response to her concert tour renders the haters as ‘insignificant’.

Many performers new and experienced get nervous just before a show and that’s good cause it gets the adrenalin pumping. As Carrie says you wouldn’t know it to look at her but the nerves are there.. however once the show gets going the nerves disappear.

I forgot to mention that Carrie got another Grammy nomination last night (I believe it’s her 5th. or 6th.). Congratulations Carrie the ladies in your category are formidable opponents…but my vote is on you.

Just wonder, Seems like it is only Carrie that has many responses on CMT blog. Everytime or any time, any mos Carrie is on CMT BLog people responding on the subject or any subject that sometimes it is not related to the story.
I can really tell that she is well known artist. A Megastar/Superstar whatever you called it.
Means that she is very productive artist. She is an icon in music.

I heard How Great thou Art again on the other channel. I can understand why she’s won the female vocalist award three years running.
I saw the utube video of her singing Just a Dream in Arkansas. She got really emotional at the very end and just waived to the fan that had a sign that read something to the effect of “I’ve lost my dream”. That song has probably touched too many lives to count.

It is strange to think she has only been around for coming on four years now, and look how far she has come. You would never no it to see her in concert that she openly admits to being a very shy not very talkative person, she can really turn those traits off when she hits that stage boy. But I must say when I met her although we did talk she still did seem shy and quiet, even while she was doing her job meeting the people who come to see her, then 10 minutes later you see her on stage and it is a totally different person. She hides those nerves very well.

I’ve been to her concert and I think she sounds better live than on tv, youtube clips, etc. I had a blast and would definitely go to her concert again if she comes back to my hometown.

Carrie is an Icon? um… Robert Plant is an Icon… Alison Krauss Is an Icon, Shania Twain is an Icon…
Dolly Parton is an Icon, Faith Hill is an Icon,
Carrie is a homogenized singer/kinda songwriter for hire… Yeah she is good at singing, and seems to be a wonderful person but I don’t feel like she is an Icon.

I don’t think I will remmeber Carrie’s music in 20 years from now nor associate it as any kind of Iconic Art.
Inless she starts doing something more unique then other peoples art… or something other then what everybody else tells her to do. I want to see the real Carrie the one that is herself somebody I can relate to as an artist.

The venue was packed at the Sommet Center in Nashville last Sunday to see Carrie and an article said 10,000 there- the touring stats will tell exactly - I just love her concerts, they are full of excitement and passion from both Carrie and the audience, Carrie seems very at ease - wonderful performances from Carrie, wonderful experience -

    Anon…Faith Hill an icon???I don’t think so.
And I couldn’t even begin to name you a Shania song.Even with as big as she was.
So you see it’s all relative. To some Carrie may be an icon.
I just love her and her songs.

The concert Sunday at the Sommet center was amazing.Carrie
as usual delivered a great show. She was charming, sweet, friendly , chatty and above all sang the heck out of the songs.Goodness that woman can sing.JAD was awesome!
If you haven’t been to a Carrie show you really should give it a try.

Amanda it is obvious you are a TS or JS fan by the bashing and name calling. There is no female that can equal Carrie’s vocals other than Martina. They are both great vocalists. Are you a just a little green that your girl can not sing any where close to those two great ladies???
My Aunt is a music critic and gives Carrie two thumbs up. She also said that Carrie is the whole package and the sky is the limit for her!!!!!!!

Amanda , Amanda to you Faith and Shania are icons.Does not mean they are to everyone. We in this country are not just one huge entity that all must like the same things and feel the same way about artist.

If you don’t like Carrie -fine.But others do. In fact some of them think of her as an icon. That’s cool.Let them.
Doesn’t change your life does it?

We attended Carrie’s concert in San Diego last month. The progression from just 2 years ago was phenomenal and quite a sight to behold! It’s true, Alison. Carrie does seem quite comfortable onstage and it’s a joy to watch.

Carrie is practically begging me to let her record my song. Whoever records it may have the biggest selling record ever so can you blame her? I’m a little hesitant because of the way she bops around from boy to boy. What could she have in common with an NFL QB and why would an NFL QB be interested in an AI contestant. What, he couldn’t find a girl in college like the men do? I can’t say that I’ve seen Reba or Martina or Lorreta or Dolly acting like a SoCal Valley Girl. And Carrie really is from Muscogee. Must be the Okie in her. I’m a little nervous that this Hollywood celebrity act may be a premature career stopper because whoever records this song first will be a household name 40 years from now. Unless the public doesn’t like what they see and I don’t think it plays in Peoria.

I saw her back in April when she was co headling with Keith Urban and I thought she was really good then but I heard that her show is ten times better than it was then and its only been 6 months. She is sooooooo talented. She is going to be around for a long time.=)

In order for anyone to be an icon they need at least one great song recorded that is timeless. Jesus Take The Wheel is kind of a great song but will it be ten years from now? I don’t think so. It is forgettable at the end of the day. For example, does anyone know any songs that Kate Smith sings? Everyone knows a song that she sings, but only one. It was enough to make her an icon and put her forever in music history. I could do that for Carrie (and a few other things) with this song. Or I could do it for someone, anyone, else. How many people think I should let Carrie become the biggest name in American music history ever? Not only will this song put her at the top of the music history books, it will also put her in the American History books. The sheet music publishing rights alone would bring in more than one million dollars.
