Six Pounds of Elvis Presley
I just finished thumbing through The Elvis Encyclopedia. And I've realized there are about six pounds of things I never knew about Elvis Presley. This enormous book starts with entries on Acting and Acuff, Roy; then about 596 pages later ends with entries on Zenoff, David. He's the judge that married Elvis and Priscilla in 1968. But somewhere in the C's, there's a very thorough explanation of Presley's influence on country. Like, did you know he was Billboard's most promising C&W artist in 1955? And do you know what his dad Vernon wrote on his epitaph? It's little facts like that that make this book, and Elvis' whole life, a very fascinating read.

Brian Quinn says:
Sounds an interesting read. I will look out for this one.
King says:
If Elvis came out today he’d be “too country” for country radio.. much less a rock n roll or r&b station.
Alison, try learning something about the King and read “Carless Love” by Peter Guralnick. And, afterwards you can post about it here. It’s a book about Elvis.. not some silly encyclopedia that contains a bunch of useless, pointless bullet points.
Kevin says:
The Elvis encyclopedia sounds very interesting to me!
Maurice Colgan says:
Yet another Elvis encyclopedia joins the thousands of books on Elvis. A great many Elvis fans are absolutely steeped in Elvis folklore.
We could write a book about him ourselves… and we do!
Goldmine magazine has a special Elvis feature in the next issue. That news is already spreading across the Internet.
Trouble says:
Alison: Thanks for the post and helping to keep Elvis’ name out there.
King: Better useless bullet points about Elvis than truly pointless whining by so-called fans who think they know everything. Besides, I can hear Elvis’ influence on modern country radio to this day. Maybe you should try listening more and talking less.
Chris says:
The man just continues to fascinate people. The stuff of legends. Yet he kept his humor and humility in tact. Long live Elvis.
