Keith Urban Rounds Up Stars for 2009 Tour

Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Keith UrbanKeith Urban’s obviously been peeking at my wish list this year. That’s because he just announced his 2009 tour, which features him plus other country artists I love as much as him. Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Glen Campbell, Lady Antebellum and the Zac Brown Band. Sadly, I have to wait until at least May for the fun to begin. And I’m not sure if he intends on mixing up the lineup or if all those bands will be with him at every show. But still, that is an impressive group. On his Web site, Urban said, “We intend to give people their money’s worth, for sure. We’ll play for as long as the venues will let us.” Yee haw.

I can’t wait. Keith Urban is a Great Artist. He’s a Hunk too.

WAHOOOOO!! Sounds great! Cannot wait! I love Keith and he is such an outstanding entertainer! Hope that doesn’t mean that it won’t be as much Keith!

Too bad that Urban doesn’t realize what a great artist Wade Hayes is, if he did he would have him on this tour as well. Some people who deserve a helping hand in this business doesn’t get it like he or she should. Too bad the ones who have gone on to be quite a big name didn’t have a record label that pulled the plug just when your career was taking off like Wade’s was. Maybe some of that Good Ole Boy that Urban has could help Wade.

Sounds like I’ve heard this all before like from Kenny Chesney! Keith must be really wanting that ETOY award.

Love Keith! Hate the majority of the line up. Sorry to say Keith, I think you blew it!

Well I love Keith but not some of the artist he chose–I thought Taylor Swift was going to Tour with Kellie Pickler–wow I guess she is going to let her down.

swift will go with whoever can give her more exposure and media attention. pickler can’t give her anything. not sure how the tweens will mix with urban’s crowd, his fans are much more mature!

His fans are much more mature? You’ve got to be kidding. It’s all Kiddie Country.

With his latest CD, I have a new found respect for Glen Campbell, and have been a fan of ZBB for several years. The rest mentioned? No thanks, I’ll pass.

When I found this out, I flipped. All I need is Sugarland and Taylor Swift. I don’t care about the rest. Sorry guys, but I don’t. I hope they come to Michigan, but they probably won’t.

Taylor Swift for ETOTY–Now that is a joke–I can not wait to hear what Keith fans think about her when they hear her live.ha ha

Why limit the gestapo at Christmas, more like Scrooge all-year round. On another note, Taylor for EOTY??? A resounding NO!!!

barbara..I don’t understand why you are wishing for artists, such as Keith who have worked hard to get where they are, to have the plug pulled on them like what happened to Wade. It’s a shame if what you are saying happened to Wade..I’m sorry about that. But why would you wish that on someone else? I also apologize for Keith’s lack of judgment on not realizing what a great talent Wade is…I’m sure he’s all Keith thinks about……sheesh! Give the guy a break!

NotGood . . . I am a huge Keith fan and have no interest in seeing TS live. I turn off the radio and TV whenever she comes on. Her voice is awful and her songs are just as bad.

When will Keith and his people realize that he IS the the main deal and that he doesn’t need to drag these somewhat popular groups such as Sugarland and Carrie around? Have ZBB or Lady A open for you and make the rest of the night yours….now there’s my money’s worth!

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 5:54 pm

Hi Gloria. Nice to hear from you. However I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you calling me a Nazi? How convenient of you to pick and choose certain posts of mine to suit your needs.

I can’t wait to see Keith in concert again! I dont get why Glen Campbell. But I don’t really care who is with him. Keith puts on an amazing concert. I wish I didn’t have to wait until May for the tour to start. Hope the dates come out soon so I can plan a couple trips.

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 6:47 pm

In case you didn’t know Glen Campbell is one of Urban’s idols/influences. Did you know Glen Campbell plays the guitar? He was a session player for years. He worked with the Beach Boys for a time. He had his own variety show “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour”. He also worked in movies. Glen has a new CD out of cover tunes called “Meet Glen Campbell”

  • Kate says:

    Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 8:53 pm

    To Chuck

Carrie co-headlined with Keith and that particular leg of the tour was 2nd. or 3rd. on the list of highest grossing tours..so while you may believe Mr. Urban doesn’t need anyone else…it appears that he does!..And it appears that he is going the way of Kenny Chesney who stacks his tours with high profile artists and voila he gets the EOTY award.I guess it doesn’t say in the rule book that Kenny has to be the one entertaining the audience all the time..

I might add that Ms.Underwood on her own will soon complete a tour that has basically sold out..the economic crunch and the lack of a string of country stars hasn’t limited her touring success..nor discouraged the more than one million fans who went to see her.

  • rolltidefan says:

    Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 9:08 pm

I thought taylor swift was suppose to headliner her own shows starting in 2009???????????? Whats up with that????

  • Kevin says:

    Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 9:34 pm

As far as Taylor headlining her own tour, or touring with Kellie Pickler…she will still probably do those things. Keith’s tour doesnt start until May, so there is 4 months for her to do other tours. Also, I doubt that she will be with Keith for EVERY show of his tour, so that will also give her time to do other things.

Anyway, I cant wait until this tour starts. Keith is amazing! He proves that he is the real entertainer of the year everytime he does a show.

I have seen Keith’s shows three times in 2008. I’m happy to hear 2009 is going to be just as fun!

  • Gloria says:

    Posted: December 3rd, 2008 at 10:59 am

I’m sorry RedMaz! Please forgive me! No, I wasn’t calling you a nazis! I just always get a negative vibe when reading your post! Anyhow, I’m excited about Keith’s tour! Not too excited about Taylor…can’t understand all the hype about her, but as long as I can see Keith, I’ll be happy. The DJ at my station said, don’t think all those artist will be with Keith on every stop. They will be with him at different times. He also went on to say that Taylor Swift was suppose to be on KC’s tour instead of LeeAnn Rimes, but Corona felt Taylor was too young to be on the bill so LeeAnn stepped in. LeeAnn had some good reviews too!

  • anne says:

    Posted: December 3rd, 2008 at 11:09 am

Give me LeeAnn Rimes over Taylor any day! That girl can sing.

  • Gloria says:

    Posted: December 3rd, 2008 at 5:06 pm

You are so right Anne! Give me LeeAnn anyday too!

  • luvncountry says:

RedMaz, haven’t heard the new Meet Glen Campbell- love his old stuff though- Witchita Lineman, Galveston, By the Time I get to Phoenix, etc. Knew he played with beach Boys.

Moderator, do you suppose you could leave THIS post up, I didn’t bash anyone, even Taylor.

  • Chuck says:

    Posted: December 3rd, 2008 at 11:01 pm

Um, Yeah….what venues are we taking about here that Carrie was ALMOST selling out?? Not all venues are the same size my dear. Look, I like Carrie…she can sing…..but Keith didn’t need her….Keith did her a big favor taking her on that tour.

  • Jess says:

    Posted: December 4th, 2008 at 2:37 am

I’m excited I love all of those artist but I’m more of a keith fan I will have a blast next year and I have no problem with any of those artist going on tour with keith I don’t think that he needs them but I’m fine with them and to comment on the EOTY subject keith didn’t need any big acts when he won previously anyways I think it’s good exposure for keith and for those who haven’t been to a keith concert he has a very respectable audience and very passionate fans and you will be amazed by keith

  • Kate says:

    Posted: December 4th, 2008 at 8:52 am

    Well Chuck dear,

I see it the other way. And the Carrie stats vs. Keith stats seem to support me. The only thing he has on her is age/experience, he’s 41 and she’s 25. Carrie out ranks him right now in just about everything that comes with mega-stardom success.
Case In Point: Heard that Carrie/Keith leg of the tour got a grammy nomination for something.

Honestly, it really doesn’t matter who’s playing with him, as long as Keith is there. It’ll be cool to see all those different age groups playing together. I’m so stoked!

I think it is a great line up. Sugarland puts on a great concert and if you have not seen the Zac Brown Band in concert you are going to be impressed! They are really fantastic! I look forward to seeing Lady Antebellum as well, but the main reason for my ticket will be Keith Urban!!!

Keith has alot of respect to do what most don’t for legends.TAKE THEM ON TOUR WITH THEM.George Jones helped Kenny chesney out when he was first starting out he let kenny open for him on the wynette tour.I thought Kenny would take George on tour with him but never happened. As far as carrie underwood selling out arenas she never sold ours out far from it and, when I saw her with kenny chesney she was horrible live.i’d rather see a legend in concert with keith than any of the new acts except the great jamey johnson!

Keith Urban should be Entertainer of the Year!! He is incrediable. Sugarland is amazing. Good job Keith and keep up the good work!
