Gibson Guitars' Dark Fire "Like Butter in Your Hand"

Posted: December 2nd, 2008 at 10:40 am  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Gibson Dark FireGibson is on the verge of introducing a new guitar called Dark Fire and it seems hugely impressive, even for someone like me who knows virtually nothing about guitars. You can apparently change the tone of the Dark Fire to match your environment. The tune-o-matic piezo bridge is sleeker than ever. The two pickups are capped with carbon fiber-like covers. It's designed like the timeless Les Paul, but with a nitrocellulose finish. And the headstock features a really pretty flowerpot inlay (that part I understand). They also say, and I quote, "the instrument will feel like butter in your hand even after four or five hours into a gig." All that for around $3500. Will you even be able to get your hands on one? Even if you're not Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert or some other famous Gibson lover? Only 400 dealers will have Dark Fire models for sale, with quantities limited to five per store. Start saving now - Dark Fire goes on sale on Dec. 15.

Being the owner of 5 Gibson guitars, I WILL be checking this out.

Oh good! I found something you like. Check the dealers in your area, RedMaZ. Because I know in Chicago, which is a pretty big city, there is only one dealer in the whole city and suburbs, and he’s only getting ten of these.
