Vince Gill, Richard Marx and the Beatles
I found this little :30 clip of Vince Gill singing with Richard Marx, and I found it interesting. First of all, it's fantastic. I would never have imagined those two vocalists sounding so good together, but they do. Really, they do. But the other thing I found interesting is why Richard Marx chose an old Beatles tune ("And I Love Her") to record. With all his songwriting chops, for country stars (Keith Urban's "Better Life" and "Everybody") and himself in his pop star heyday ("Right Here Waiting," "Should've Known Better"), I would've thought he wasn't a covers kind of guy. But this new Marx album has some original material written and some iconic covers. And he said he enjoyed venturing out of his comfort zone to do these covers. Richard Marx and Vince Gill sounds like an awesome match-up actually. I’m not surprised at all that they sound great together, and that’s without considering that Vince Gill sounds great with anyone.
As far as Richard Marx being a covers kind of guy, all great songwriters have great influences and great loves in music. It makes sense that he’d decide to sing some of his old favorites.

Vince and Richard actually have a history of working together before this particular duet. Vince sang on a Marx song called “There’s Nothing Left Behind Us” from the ’90s and Marx co-wrote Vince’s “Someday” from Vince’s Next Big Thing album.
