Shawna and Vince's Redneck Wedding

Shawna and VinceShawna and Vince were married on CMT's show My Big Redneck Wedding. They share their thoughts about the big day.

Shawna:

Well the wedding day was quite an amazing day. I was filled with so many emotions, the first of them being EXTREMELY tired. I was up until 4:00 a.m. I was nervous, anxious, happy, everything all rolled into one.

I arrived at the ORV park much later than I should have, but I still arrived safely as the rig had a bad motor thanks to Vince's stunt. My friends had arrived much earlier than me to get stuff set up for us, as they knew we would be runnin' around like chickens with our heads cut off. It was hot as hell by the time that I arrived, and we weren't even close to getting things ready.

People started arriving, and of course leave it to our buddy Keith to bring out the beer. Luckily the ranger wasn't around yet to see any of that.

Finally it was time to start the wedding. We got everything set up, and in the million degree heat, I was trying not to melt in my dress. I was so scared to be gettin' married after being divorced for 7 years, but yet was happy at the same time to be finally getting' it done. I was so nervous standing up in front of everyone that I forgot to do my 'lil joke of attaching the ball and chain to Vince's ankle after I said I do.

The wedding went off without a hitch (no pun intended), and finally it was done. Afterwards everyone went out to play a bit in the park. Unfortunately there was no mud as it was the dry season, so all the mud that's usually out there, was all gone.

We all went up top for the reception, if you could call it that. With everything going on with the rig, and other things, the reception was one of the only things that wasn't planned out at all. I had so many things in my mind long before the wedding that I wanted to do, but as weddings go, things get forgotten or passed by. Luckily enough my mom and my aunt collaborated and got the food plans worked out, so everyone had food to eat. Most of our friends brought the beer, and with as hot as it was, people were more than happy to start drinkin' it down. I didn't get to do the father/daughter dance, or even the first dance as a newlywed couple, as we had a million things goin' on during the reception. People talkin' to us, figuring out who was gonna tow what truck to Ione, etc. But that was actually just a small reception for those people who weren't goin; camping with us. The real reception started up in Ione, and it was actually a lot of fun, as we were a little more relaxed and settled down.

So I guess all in all it turned out pretty good for a wedding that was planned and thrown together in literally 3 months.

Vince:

Well my wedding day, well I was definitely nervous. I hadn't been married in 10 years and I already considered Shawna to be my wife in my heart but we wanted to make it legal.

I was at the park earlier than she was and was helpin' to get people let down to where we were, to keep my mind off things. It was getting' hot and not only myself but everyone else was startin' to get cranky and bitchy. My mom and Shawna got into a bit of a yellin' match and I wasn't sure if things were going to go the way they should.

It was finally time to get married and I was very nervous. I figured that I would probably mess things up bein' as nervous as I was, but I did ok. I forgot to hand her my "nuts" after she said I do, but oh well, life goes on.

The reception was ok. I know that Shawna had a lot of things she wanted to do and had them laid out in her mind, but she didn't get to do them because of the craziness surrounding not only the wedding but the week before with plans and working on the rig. But I would say that all together it all came out well and I'm now married to the woman of my dreams.

I missed your wedding cause it’s very hard for me to leave Texas and Louisiana so I wanted to say congrats to yall. Ive never met or seen your wife but she looks fun. Some day I’ll wonder back up home and visit. What is it with our family that were addicted to mud? It’s Xmas day and I’m out in the swamp of south Louisiana duck hunting and then took my Rancher 4×4 and burried it in mud just cause I wanted to:) The mosquitos are tearing the hell out of me but F-it! Merry Xmas to you and yours and good luck. Your Cousin Ty.
