It Sounds Like a Carrie Underwood Christmas
I know it's only Nov. 20, and Thanksgiving hasn't even come and gone, but I have just the thing to put you in the holiday mood. Well, I don't. But Carrie Underwood does. The five extra Christmas tracks on her Carnival Ride CD are flat-out gorgeous. It's a Wal-Mart exclusive, so if you're an iTunes person, you may have to break out of your usual downloading routines. But these songs are worth the extra effort. Even the 30-second audio samples will have you pining for Christmas cookies and cozy snowman sweaters. To hear her power pipes on classics like "The First Noel," "Do You Hear What I Hear," "What Child Is This" and more makes me want to go caroling right this minute.

dj says:
Ok Alison–Much Better!! And this bonus CD is great.
Don says:
You are right on the money here Alison!!
These 5 Christmas songs are plain beautiful.”What Child Is This” is really remarkable.
They leave you pining for more.
Well worth the trip to Walmart!
Cj says:
Really nice blog Alison. Thanks so much for being fare! I can not waite to hear them. It will make my christmas much better…LOL
Avery says:
Carrie’s Christmas music is beautiful. I bought the Carnival Ride bonus CD at Walmart for myself and some friends. I love all the songs! Do You Hear What I Hear is my favorite but I love the version of the The First Noel, too! The children’s choir at the end just sounds amazing! Her version of O Holy Night is just wonderful! I love them all!!
Jamie says:
Thanks for the very strong endorsement of Carrie’s bonus Christmas music. These are some of my all time favorites and I have never heard them sung better. I bought this as soon as it came out as I the other Christmas songs Carrie has performed on television shows have been some of the best versions I have ever heard. It is a great addition to anyone’s Christmas collection and well worth a trip to Walmart.
KAREN K says:
Yes, really nice blog–thank you!!! I just heard them yesterday and they are like an angel singing them straight from heaven Carrie does have a beautiful gift and its all natural!!!! “Do You Hear What I Hear” has just been released to country and ac radio for the holidays!! I cant seem to pick a favorite because they are all sung so beutifully– so its a toss-up for me!! Hope you all have a safe and joyous Thanksgiving next week (in case I dont read the blogs next week!)
Jill says:
When I talk about Carrie to someone I can’t help but say she is touched by the hand of God. Some people don’t understand her appeal or why her fans think she is so special. Go buy this new release and in these 5 songs you will see what she is all about. As I got to the Walmart parking lot, I ripped open the package and then listened to the Christmas songs on the way home. When I got to O Holy Night, I just couldn’t help it and shed a tear. Amazing and gifted are the only way to describe Carrie and her music. As Karen said above, I will
quote…
they are like an angel singing them straight from heaven Carrie does have a beautiful gift and its all natural!!!!
This is what Carrie has that others don’t. She blesses us all in so many ways.
Leeann says:
Okay, here’s y question though. Does this bonus CD only come with the Carnival Ride album? If so, that’s a ridiculous rip off. I’ve already purchased that album and as much as I love Christmas music, I refuse to buy it again for five extra Christmas songs. I’m just not that big of a fan I guess. If it can be bought separately, I’m in.
Janet says:
No its Faith Hill Christmas. Carrie all she did was add 5 Christmas songs to her album to bump up her sales for the holiday.
Faith took over 3 years to record a Christmas album and get it just right, since she is doing only one Christmas album in her career. Her’s means way more than just throwing a few songs on a regular album to help sales over Christmas.
Faith’s is sellling great and BTW is outselling the Elvis duet one that has Carrie on it by alot. Faith has increased in sales everyweek.
Faith will be everywhere more than any other country artist this season.
November 24th Today Show Concert series
November 25th The View
November 27th her PBS Soundstage live concert that was filmed in Chicago before a live audience will air that night and throughout the holiday season. She sings every Christmas song on album at teh concert.
November 28th David Letterman
November 30th CMT will air the PBS special
December 3rd she will sing in NY for the lighting of the tree at Rockfellar
December 23rd she is the HOST of the 10th anniversary of CBS Home of The Holidays and will sing.
So Faith’s holiday albums means way more than Carrie and her jsut adding some songs to an album to generate more sales.
MJ says:
I agree with Leeann. I’m a huuuge fan of good music and great country music. However, I can’t help but feel a bit peeved when artists and/or their record labels re-release CDs with “bonus tracks.” I’ve already paid hard-earned money for the music and they want to me to buy it again? For a couple of extra songs? I want my money back from the first short-changed version. Then I will buy the new one. Other recent examples are Little Big Town’s “Place to Land,” Taylor Swift’s debut, and even (I can’t believe I’m saying anything against the great blue-eyed wonder) back to Martina Mcbride’s “Martina” album. And for her “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” album, Miranda Lambert released three different version, one for Target, one for ITunes, and one for Walmart, in addition to the original.
I love the music, but I’m broke.
Janet says:
Faith is the angel with way more of a amazing voice than screemer Carrie. Her Christmas songs and her rendition by far beat Carrie’s songs added to an album to MAKE her fans buy her album again.
sfsfsf says:
personally, I don’t think Carrie sounds good on any of the songs. Most people think her “power house” vocals are beautiful but I think they’re too strong and loud and they sound forced. I like quiter voices better. I do like one of the songs though.
Janet says:
Yopu want to hear a traditional Christmas album sung by an angel who sings 100% from the heart and you know she believes what she is singing buy Faith’s Joy To The World.
It is 11 songs that are sung like they are coming down from heaven, and she put her whole heart into it. Her first song on radio was 1993 and it is now 2008 and she is releasing her very first Christmas album, NO adding Christmas songs to one of her prior albums for Faith.
These came from her heart and took 3 years to do it like she wanted it too since its her ONLY one she will do in her career.
She did it the way a Christmas album is suppose to be done, something you will treasure and pull out every year not a cheap way of adding to your sales like Carrie did.
Janet says:
Don’t believe watch her special on CMT on the 30th.
Leeann says:
Seriously, Janet!
Sean says:
The fact that you can only get the Christmas songs on Carnival ride does nothing to diminish the quality of her voice on the songs. If you don’t want to buy Carnival ride again and think it’s a “cheap way of adding to (her) sales, then don’t buy it! I love Faith Hill too! Both are wonderful singers! I’m sure Faith’s people have done things to increase her sales over the years, too. No reason to knock either artist for the business side of things…
Leeann says:
Yeah, it’s true that Carrie’s people aren’t the first to do this; it’s just another in a line of offenses in this vein. I think I’m especially irked that it’s Christmas music that’s being slapped on though, because Christmas, frankly, has no way of flowing with non-Christmas music. So, it just seems even more tacky to slap them onto a regular album than usual. Why couldn’t she have waited to release these songs when she could record five or six more Christmas songs and make a whole album out of it? I’d buy it then.
Sean says:
Also…have you ever heard Carrie sing acoustically? Without the power of a band behind her, Carrie is most certainly capable of a softer sound. She shows it a lot on Carnival ride when she changes the dynamic within songs like Just A Dream, I Know You Won’t, Twisted, So Small and Wheel of the World. I love the power of her voice, but am even more in love with the way she shows a range of dynamics in her newer material.
Sean says:
The Christmas disc is on an entirely separate cd. If you know someone that would like Carnival Ride, you could give it as a gift to them and keep the Christmas songs. I understand you frustrations, though!
Leeann says:
Sean, unfortunately, I won’t know if these songs are so great, since I can’t buy an album that I already own. I’d rather spend that money on an album that I don’t yet have.
Now, if the songs could have been downloaded separately, then I’d be on board. Those who hadn’t already bought the album could buy it with the Christmas songs if that’s what entices them to finally buy it and those of us who have already bought it could buy the extra songs without having to pay for the same stuff all over again. Seems a lot more fair than making it a Wal-Mart exclusive where there’s only one choice.
Leeann says:
Hmm…Sean, that’s a possibility if the two CDs aren’t in the same shrink wrap together. Otherwise, I’d look kind of cheap giving someone an already opened CD.:)
Off Subject says:
This is way off subject, but who else thinks it’s nice to finally see actual country artists on the “Quick Links” Bar? I was sick of seeing Miley Cyrus, Kid Rock, and Elvis!!
(However, Jessica Simpson is highly debatable)
Karen says:
Carrie added the Christmas songs to CR b/c she was and is still currently on tour and so wasn’t able to produce a new full album or whole new Christmas album. This bonus CD has been out since October. She just hasn’t had the time to make a full album w/ her tour going on. The Christmas songs are just to tie us fans over until her tour is over and she has more time to devote to making her third album. Also, alot of her fans wanted a Christmas album from Carrie and even asked her when she was going to make one, so she was just giving her fans what they wanted. The five songs weren’t just slapped w/ her non Christmas songs (i.e. CR songs). It is a two disc cd. One w/ CR music and one w/ the Christmas songs. So if you just want to listen to CR, you just have to get the CR cd out but if you want to listen to the Christmas songs, then you could listen to the Christmas songs from the other CD. So I don’t know what all the fuss is. If you don’t want to buy it, that is fine….then just don’t.
Karen says:
But you are missing out….lol. Anyways, can’t wait for her third album to come out. I will be sure to buy it.
Faith is great too, but Carrie moves me more…sorry.
Leeann says:
Well, you’ve answered my flow concern. You’re right that since the Christmas songs won’t be on the same disc as the regular album, flow won’t be a problem after all. Unfortunately, this doesn’t solve the ‘I already bought the album around its release date’ problem. I suppose this is exciting for her diahard fans, but not for more casual fans like me. Moreover, it honestly doesn’t do a whole lot to convert me into being a more serious fan.
Karen says:
I understand….even some Carrie fans weren’t too thrilled w/ the idea of having to buy CR again just to get the Christmas songs but the thing is Carrie really needed a Bonus CR CD b/c of her tour and since it takes time to do a full album, Carrie’s third album most likely won’t be coming out any time soon. Probably more like sometime in Oct. of next year. So she needed something to tie her fans over until then and to also help her sales during the Christmas time.
Karen says:
Alot of country artist do that (i.e. Sugarland did that w/ her last album, etc.)
Karen says:
Sugarland added 6 Christmas songs to her Enjoy the Ride album last year for example.
dj says:
This Blog wasn’t about Faith–But since you brought her up–”What”–Carries Christmas songs are WONDERFUL and no one can sing them better.
Why on earth would it take anyone 3 years to do a Christmas CD.
dj says:
Karen–Where do you come up with having to but the CD –No one had to buy it.
dj says:
I have heard several people that were not happy with Faiths CD after 3 years
dj says:
That would be having to buy.
Karen says:
Rascal Flatts also has added bonus tracks to their original albums, so it’s very common to add bonus tracks to an original album.
mia says:
Carrie has such a gorgeous, pure voice. the Christmas songs that Carrie sings are absolutely beautiful & definently help to add to the excitment & joy of Christmas.
Karen says:
DJ. Sorry if my tone came out wrong…didn’t mean for it too. No nobody needs to buy this bonus song unless they want too. Not to mention, this also helps to attract the people that haven’t already bought her CR album to want to buy it for the Holidays. So it’s an added bonus too.
Karen says:
I understand how the ones that have already bought CR album though might not want to buy this. If I wasn’t a super fan, I might not too. Anyways, it’s just a personal decision on how interested you are in getting it.
PJ says:
I can’t imagine anyone singing these songs any better than Carrie. They are absolutely amazing! Her vocals are just perfect! I am buying more copies this weekend to send to the troops. Every year I try to buy music to help with that drive. I don’t know why when we have a blog we can’t stick to the person the blog is about…someone always has to compare or bring up other artists. Carrie does a wonderful job on these Christmas songs and if don’t have the CD..then you are really missing out. I am very happy to buy CR again…we could use it in the other vehicle we have.
Sean says:
It’s just the world we live in. Marketing, timing, etc.
Kate says:
Carrie’s voice and the arrangement of ‘What Child Is This’ is absolutely haunting.
Karen says:
I agree. It’s just the world of marketing. Compared to others, Carrie actually does less of re-remaking of her albums. TS has remarketing her album like four times I believe w/ the same album. Now that girl is all about sales.
Karen says:
remarketed
Karen says:
The Christmas songs are beautiful and more toned down than the songs from CR. So it adds a nice mixture w/ the original CR songs.
Michelle says:
I looove these Christmas songs!! Definitely worth it to buy the album again! I can’t stop listening to them …they are amazing!!
MiaT says:
OK… I have to say that I just had this conversation with someone just the other day. I BUY the CD the first day it comes out!…I get really kinda get ticked off when then they re-release it with bonus tracks! I have sooo many doubles of some cds. I always have to explain to the hubby why I have doubles. So hey out there you record companies..Please just release the CD & leave it alone. Don’t make us hold off buying it just to see if you might add something to it later.
MiaT says:
I have not heard Carrie’s Christmas stuff yet…BUT I think its FAITH HILL all the way for me this Holiday Season..
Karen says:
Well, it’s Carrie all the way for me this Holiday Season :D
bluefish@thesea says:
I got this CD already and it was very good song. It is worthed to buy this CD.
Karen says:
But Faith has about three or four songs on her Christmas album I did like, like Baby changes everything.
Karen says:
But I like Carrie better :D
Karen says:
My favorites are The First Noel, What Child is this, and Holy Night.
Bonus Tracks says:
I can’t believe anyone is complaining about bonus tracks and I wish Sony would let more artists put bonus tracks on their CDs. They completely blew it with Kellie Pickler’s album by never adding even just at least 1 bonus track to either of her physical CDs. Bonus tracks on the CD (not just iTunes) is the only way to go and it’s one way to sell over 1 million CDs, which is very hard to do without great marketing. Sugarland, Taylor, Carrie, Miranda and other CDs have more regular tracks plus multiple bonus tracks. Most of the releases with bonus tracks had the highest sales. If you’re in the record business to sell records, you don’t argue with proven sales methods. Some artists get 5, 10 or more CD bonus tracks and they didn’t let Kellie have just 1? That’s very unfair. Some artists get tons of store promotion while others get none. If labels wanted all of their best artists to sell more they would do these things for all of them, not just a few. No wonder overall album sales are down. Bad economy + no bonus tracks = poor value for consumers and low sales. Labels need to wake up and smell the Starbucks.
Karen says:
I feel ya. I think it comes down to who the label thinks they can make the most money off of and/or can sustain a long career. Hence, only a few acts get most of the promotion, etc while others not so much/none. Anyways, I’m not a big Kellie P. fan but I liked her performance at the CMA’s.
Vicki says:
As a Carrie fan, I too was a little irked by the fact she has joined the ranks of doing whatever to make a buck (I know =not her…but Sony). She just joined Taylor, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Kenny on this type of marketing. But I’ll still buy another for I do want to hear her songs this Christmas. But I’ll also buy Faith as I know whatever she sings is good too.
Sandy G says:
Ok so you want to bash Carrie for all this stuff about having to by her CR CD in order to get her Christmas songs? Well that is really stupid. She is on tour. Her fans, myself included want These Christmas songs sung by Carrie, and with only a limited amount of time to record these songs as she is on an extensive tour, there are only five tracks, not enough for an entire CD. Now, if you haven’t heard Carrie sing Oh Holy Night, Google “You Tube” Once there search for Carrie, Oh Holy Night. You will then commence to the store to by the CR CD in order to get the five tracks of Christmas songs. I have never heard this song sung so beautifully by anyone. Someone on this blog said it right. “She sounds like an angel” So the ones that are complaining about having to buy CR again in order to get the Christmas songs, let me ask you . . . Did you think you were going to get a CD of Christmas songs for free??? I’ll Buy two CR CD’s in order to get those five Christmas songs. I would have had to pay something to get a Christmas album . . . No?
Jill says:
Hey, Carrie had very little time off this Summer from this year long tour. A week here and there and she spent some of that time to give the fans “something” to hold us over until a new CD drops. I for one appreciate her doing that. The one single CD of 5 songs at 3.00 a song is well worth the money 14.99 with the CR CD as the bonus. I will enjoy those 5 songs over and over and get my 3.00 worth. I also love Faith Hill and I’m sure her CD is amazing and will go buy it. Faith has a gorgeous voice and she too is wonderful Christian lady with the voice of an angel.
pappy75 says:
To complain about Carrie when many other artists have done it and others will do it is totally unfair and in fact is really a sly way of bashing Carrie too easily.
Kate says:
Doesn’t matter what Carrie does or doesn’t do the bashers come out (I believe the bashers aren’t many in numbers relatively speaking, it’s the same people sometimes, with new identities). It’s called jealousy and envy. These two guys usually accompany EXCEPTIONAL success..I said EXCEPTIONAL success..and that’s Carrie Underwood.
Bonus Tracks says:
Faith’s CDs have more tracks than most these days so maybe her label just didn’t call them bonus tracks back then but they still get the sales job done. I found an Australia version of “There You’ll Be: The Best of Faith Hill” with bonus tracks. Artists that have been recording as long as or have as many songs as Faith also have greatest hits albums and full Christmas albums, more great marketing and not much different from bonus tracks. Sales isn’t a bad word. Artists that became very well established many years ago may not need bonuses as much as newer artists either. Album sales are way down these days so labels need to be more innovative and aggressive with marketing and pricing. Maybe they also need to force iTunes to raise single track and album prices. I find it absurd that anyone can buy single tracks for the same or lower price than full albums, or even that most tracks can be bought as singles. I liked it better when only a few songs were sold as singles and we had to buy albums to get the rest.
Karen says:
Yes, I agree. The labels have to be more aggressive b/c of the decline of sales due to the economic state not to mention the download music illegally age.
But ultimately it comes down to star quality and mass appeal and Carrie has that in spades.
star says:
I THINK CU IS DOING THIS 5 EXTRA CHRISTMAS SONGS TO UP HER SALES LIKE SOMEONE ELSE SAID ON THIS BLOG! FAITH HILLS CD IS TOTALLY GREAT! SHE 3 YEARS TO MAKE THIS TOOK A LOT OF THOUGHT AND PLANNING, WAS NOT DONE JUST TO PUT OUT AT LAST MINUTE.
Janet says:
Faith’s version of WHat Child Is This and O’h Holy Night blows Carrie out of the water. Faith sings like an angel.
She btw is outselling that Duet album that Carrie is on with Elvis and Carrie’s CR with the songs added.
Janet says:
Guess Taylor is the new thing she OUT SOLD Carrie’s first week sales.
Kate says:
To Janet:
Faith outselling Carrie’s CR? Gees, I would hope so.
You’re comparing a debut album (which took an incredible 3 years to complete) with an album that has been out for 1 year and added a 5 song christmas bonus.
By the way Faith’s album sold 25 thousand this week and Carrie’s sold 21 thousand. Not much of a lead.
I bet that Carrie’s CR will still be on the charts after Christmas but I don’t think Faith’s will.
BC says:
This blog is about Carrie’s Christmas music. Not about sales, Faith, Kellie, Taylor or anyone else. But since you brought it all up. I bet anyone would love to have Carrie’s sales number. No female country star has sold better than Carrie in the past 3 years…yes, not even Taylor. Some Hearts is certified 7 times platinum…to Taylor 3 times. Her first week sales may have been a little better than Carrie’s on the 2nd album but that was with 3 months of promotions..promising everything from a trip to a concert of your choice with a friend to your picture on a collage in album sleeve and 3.99 mp3 downloads. So marketing goes into that..nothing to do with talent. Do we really want to talk about who has the most #1 songs? Ok, let’s give it a rest. Carrie is doing great as others are. She has a released a wonderful Christmas bonus cd worth buying and enjoying. I came here to read about Carrie…if you want to talk about Faith..start her a blog and then Faith fans can talk about it there. I hate it when you go to read about a person and someone has to start comparing and bringing up other artists and not keep their comments to the person the blog is about. Final comment..NO ONE sings these Christmas songs better than Carrie. One word to describe this Christmas music from Carrie…BEAUTIFUL!!!
Bonus Tracks says:
Above I meant to type “Many people myself included LOVE bonus tracks and I’m very disappointed that I CAN’T get them on more CDs, especially Kellie’s.”
Karen - But ultimately it comes down to star quality and mass appeal and Carrie has that in spades.
I agree. Carrie has mass appeal due to star quality and talent, which was made known to the masses with mass marketing including Sony releasing her greatest songs JTTW and BHC to country, pop, AC, and Christian radio and many songs to country radio. Taylor’s label followed suit and did the same thing on country, pop, and AC. The masses listen to country and pop radio, and Carrie and Taylor have more airplay than almost anyone and far more than all of the country female artists for the past few years. Kellie also has star quality, talent, and great pop/rock crossover songs Sony should release to pop and AC to increase her mass appeal and sales from beyond the country world to the pop world. Kellie and Taylor wrote one of those songs together. I hope Sony has plans to release these songs to country, pop and AC. They also need to add some bonus tracks. 13 tracks should be the minimum and it’s the number Taylor wanted, asked for and received for her new CD. I’m sure her label will again add many more bonus tracks over the next 2 years to increase and keep sales going strong.
I understand why Sony promotes Carrie, Kenny, Brad, etc. more than everyone and they deserve it, however it’s not fair for them to not provide Kellie with the promotion she has earned including adding bonuses to her CD. Since their debut albums did so well and sold more than all other new solo females since November 2005 I can’t even imagine anyone deciding or telling Kellie or Taylor they wouldn’t be getting more than 10 tracks or any bonus tracks on their CDs when their sophomore albums released. Miranda’s albums are less mainstream. Kellie has great pop/rock crossover songs and Miranda doesn’t have any so it makes sense that Kellie has more mass appeal, or she would with more mass promotion. Most country artists don’t have any pop/rock crossover songs and Carrie, Kellie and Taylor are about the only recent artists who do. I can think of a few others and their songs aren’t as good.
13 regular tracks and 4 Target plus 5 Wal-Mart bonus tracks = 22 total tracks for the Carnival Ride CD. Kellie’s CD only has 10 tracks and they could easily add a few more at least. So really there is no valid reason for not including bonus tracks on her CDs. They already have 3 bonus tracks recorded and for some strange unknown reason chose to include them only on iTunes, something no one else is doing. The best-sellers have bonuses on their CDs or CDs and iTunes, not just iTunes. Carnival Ride has many CD bonuses and no iTunes bonuses, which makes 1,000 times more sense than the other way around and it’s what most album buyers want. By doing the opposite with Kellie’s albums, Sony might as well have announced ‘we’re not putting any bonus tracks on Kellie’s CDs because we don’t want her albums to sell more, the economy is terrific and overall album sales are way up!’, because that’s how it looks, like they are intentionally trying to keep her sales lower than others and they don’t need or want to sell more CDs.
Yes BC, Carrie’s Christmas music is BEAUTIFUL and I highly recommend it!
Karen says:
Well, maybe Kellie will get a better break as they are starting to let her perform on CMA. If she can sing a break thru song then maybe her mass appeal will increase and she will be taken more seriously by her record company and given more promotion and have bonus tracks added. So, Kellie just needs to have several stellar performances and performances that just BLOWS people away. Just having good performances isn’t enough. She needs something that makes her stand out from the crowd and also be a natural on stage/camera. I liked Kellie’s performance at the CMA but it wasn’t something that made me go WOW and it looked like she was trying too hard (i.e. when she came down the steps and stood in the middle of the stage w/ a weird stance where she planted her feet. Looked very showy). Anyways, I think Kellie has alot of promise but I don’t think she is quite there yet but getting much better. But I think she will be getting more promotion now that her sophomore album is more mainstream and she has toned down her strong country accent that she had on her first album, which probably limited her from gaining the mainstream audience. I like her alot better than TS btw :D. But she still needs to work on her performance as it comes off amateurish at times….not so much w/ her voice but w/ her movements on stage. But she has gotten alot better. Carrie made not have the greatest movements on stage but she has the voice to sustain an audience and her movements have improved tremendously. If you don’t believe me you should go to one of her concerts. Best concert ever! She moves all over the stage at her concerts than what you see on tv, which is more choregraphed due to the cameras. Anyways, I wish Kellie P best of luck and hope she gets her big break and has a smash hit as she seems like a sweet gal and has a great personality and she can sing. I like her :D
Kate says:
This blog is about Carrie and I don’t know how there’s so much here about Kellie Pickler and I guess I’m going to add to it..sorry.
The stats show that Kellie Pickler has not had one single record approach the top ten…her debut album has taken 2 years to build to sales close to 800 thousand…her most recent album is not doing well in sales and may experience the sophomore curse…other contest winners who got further than Kellie on AI and who’s records did not sell well were dropped by their record labels.
Kelly is very lucky that she still has a record contract. Record labels put their money behind artists who have shown that they can produce a good return on the money spent..thus you have heavy promotion for super-stars and because they have super star status they are more in demand for talk shows and performances. This is how it is in all fields of entertainment. Athletes who are successful get all the perks, artists who are successful get all the attention and all the attention makes them bigger stars and so turns the wheel. But let me be clear the thing that propels a person upward, the thing that starts the ball rolling is a ‘talent’ that is not just ‘ordinary’ talent but rather it is ‘exceptional’ and ‘extraordinary’ talent.
Kellie gained notoriety on AI not for her singing but for her personality..this is what Simon was referring to when he said that he thought he liked Kellie better than Carrie..unforturately personality can only get you so far..
Yes Kellie is a nice sweet young women and everyone likes her quirkie and sometimes outlandish humour..but I don’t think Kellie has that ‘thing’ that separates her from the rest at least not vocally.
Now I hear that she is hooking up with Taylor Swift and that they co-wrote a song together which is soon to be released. I don’t know how much of a hand Kellie had in this new song, but it sure sounds like a TS type of song. Is this song going to do it for Kellie? if the song is successful who do you think will get the credit for it’s success(after all TS is doing back-up vocals)? Some of Kellie’s fans are so excited about this release because of TS involvement that it might as well be a TS release.
It’s a wait and see qame right now for Kellie..hope things work out for her.
Of course as always this is simply an opinion, my opinion and nothing more.
vcp says:
I heard bits of them and liked them so I gave my old copy to my neice and bought the new one. IMO Carrie could really sing anything she is very versitile, you could put right next to Josh Groban, and she could keep up with him and classical music. That is what her voice reminds me of on the Christmas tracks.
Linda says:
Very upset that I can’t but on itunes or that is was not on it’s own CD… bad move… so I didn’t buy any music from her this year.
