Martina McBride Duets With Elvis Presley for Christmas
I'm not usually a huge fan of Christmas songs, but I couldn't help but start feeling the holiday spirit listening to Elvis Presley and Martina McBride sing "Blue Christmas." The track comes from Elvis Presley Christmas Duets and they even remade the original video for it, from his '68 Comeback Special, by adding McBride to the performance. It's actually stunning how they made the video look so authentic, and weird how in the original there was an empty spot next to Elvis. It's like he knew that one day it would be occupied. The album also includes duets with Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Wynonna, Sara Evans, Amy Grant, Gretchen Wilson, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town, Anne Murray and Olivia Newton-John. Sounds like it would be a can't-miss gift for one person on my list, but has brought me to an important, and in my case, dreaded realization - I've got a lot of shopping to do before I'm ready for Christmas.

That is very cool. I also liked what they did with Elvis and Celine Dion on American Idol a couple years ago. Brad Paisley has something similar to this on his Christmas cd. He sings with his younger self on a song he wrote called “Born On Christmas Day.” Its a great song, everyone should check that one out.

I personally love Elvis and Carrie Underwood’s, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. If I’m not mistaken Carrie’s the only one who actually does some harmonizing with the King.

The Elvis Christmas Duets is a GREAT album and one that will become a classic over the years. The video with Martina McBride is outstanding and augurs well for what other technological inovations could be used to further the Elvis Legacy.

Love this cd!
The best cut to me is “I’ll be Home For Christmas”.That one just worked on all levels.
Don’t think they made the best choice for a single but it was Elvis’s favorite.

Why make it about Carrie? I guess because she’s my favorite and the reason why I would buy such an album. On another note I definitely agree with your comment about all the ladies doing a great job!

Don’t fix it, if’s it’s not broken. I think these songs were fine, just the way they were. If these singers call themselves artists maybe they should try to doing these songs on their own, instead of ruining the Kings classic Christmas tunes.

this video freaked me out…it was so well done…I got so confused as to who the woman was…said to myself it looks like martina but the time line makes no sense…then I remembered natalie cole and her dad singing together and elvis on americal idol…pretty cool stuff…loved martina’s hair..she fit right in…props to martina

My husband saw this music video and asked me how old Martina was. I didn’t think it made any sense and finally googled it. That is pretty cool. Can’t wait to show my husband! Now we don’t have to be confused anymore. :)
