Newlywed Jewel, Sings About Cheating -- Sort Of

Posted: November 14th, 2008 at 12:03 pm  |  By: Whitney Self

"The concept of this song is unique -- it's about having an affair with your own husband." -- Jewel

Only months into her marriage, Jewel is already singing of a love affair that's heated and passionate. In the video, she tells a certain someone to call her as soon as his plane lands. She tells him where to take the cab and that she misses him. Oh, and he better hurry , because she's got a bottle of wine, some stolen time and a key to a room -- where she's waiting in bed. Oh my! But don't worry, the silhouette of the man walking through the door is no secret lover. In fact, it's her real-life, championship bull-riding husband, Ty Murray. Her highly-anticipated rendezvous is simply an innocent getaway with her longtime love. Yet again, Jewel has managed to tell a beautiful story through song -- and one of her best stories yet.

    Dang, Jewel’s off the market??

I guess there’s always Jessica Simpson…I’ll have to pull out the “stetson” and knock the mud off my boots…maybe get some flowers or something…

(All joking aside, I LOVED Jewel’s acting alongside Toby Macquire in Ang Lee’s Civil War flick…what a great woman.)

She’s playing the wrong chords on her guitar during this song/video.

Unless of course she’s doing some weird tuning thing, but she’s always been a 440 girl.

This video started out really stupid, but suprisingly ended up being okay. I liked how she was looking through the box of pictures and stuff. It’s a really good song. But in all honesty i don’t really like jewel that much. I don’t think she’s right for country music. I also think there are too many artists from other genres trying to make it in country and it just doesn’t fit.

I really like Jewel. I think she’s great for county. she was never really a ‘pop’ artist, and I think this is where she fits.

I agree with Katie. Jewel has always in country in some sense. She wanted to be country at first, but people didn’t know what genre to put her in. I think she fits in the best in country.

Ty Murray is awesome so is Jewel. Hope they have a great life together!!! As for being “country”, you can’t get anymore “country” then Jewel.

Love the song, video and blog. Each time Whitney has a new blog out, I first must read her words. For you see, Whitney’s words help set the stage for what we are about to view and hear. After reading, I clicked on the song and was not let down. I found myself wondering where this beautiful motel was and why she used it. Was it one that her and her husband went to on their honeymoon, or was it a secret place that they met while seeing each other. Then, in the shadows there is her husband, but only in the background. While watching, I was wanting to see what he too looks like, but alas, that is left up to us….great directing. Good video choice Whitney. You bring your audience all different types of genre and we have to decided where we think they should be placed or should we where in the end, does it really matter? I love getting up early in the morning and finding your new blogs. Please keep them coming and with such compassion too.

Nothing like a little role playing to spice up the love life.

    fyi~
i am trying to find a way to contact jewel. anybody help?

randomly a few months ago, my boss whom works for a very large household name company, was talking about his friend “amber”.
amber is getting paid a lot of money to be on call for a man that travels a lot and wants her to come to him, and do what you already know they are doing, whenever he feels the urge. the man is married. my boss thinks his friend amber is a genius. he thinks the story is funny. having this happen to me before…trust me…it is anything but.

this is definitely is happening. this was not a name dropping story, this was just a story….that would be nothing more than that….IF they didn’t tell me….now i want to expose this situation, because this man’s wife is a sweetheart, from what i know. i empathize with her…she is jewel….

long story short, ty….as in ty jewel’s husband, is the jerk paying amber to be his on call call girl. i want to expose this jerk for what he is. i want the truth to be available for jewel to explore should she chose to do so.

    ty is a scumbag.
