Enlighten Us, Joe Jonas
Taking a page out of his ex-girlfriend's book of how to connect with fans in the digital era, Joe Jonas has used his MySpace blog to give the world his side of Taylor Swift breakup story. And to explain exactly why that breakup phone call only lasted 27 seconds. "I called to discuss feelings with the other person," he writes. "Those feelings were obviously not well received. I did not end the conversation. Someone else did. Phone calls can only last as long as the person on the other end of the line is willing to talk. A phone call can be pretty short when someone else ends the call. The only difference in this conversation was that I shared something the other person did not want to hear." What bothers me the most is how he refers to Swift as "the other person" and "someone else." Why not name names? I don't think a 19-year-old boy would talk like this -- all formal and robotic. This sounds like the work of a publicist. And not a very good one.

I’m sure the truth is somewhere in the middle — it usually is. Since Taylor is generally a very open and honest person, I suspect that it was difficult for her to play it tight-lipped when she was dating him, but she toed the line and dutifully responded, “He’s a great guy and anyone would be lucky to be dating him.” So, I’m sure that now that she no longer has to play by the JB rules, she’s probably talking more than she should be. And, she’s angry, and she’s hurt.
Also, no one has said what was said in the phone call — did he call her and say, “I want to start dating someone else”? Technically, that wouldn’t be cheating, but that still wouldn’t mean that he didn’t break up with her in order to date the other person.
Why do we care? Because by all accounts, Taylor and Joe are both well-liked by the people that they’ve worked with. They seemed like a good match, and it seemed like they were pretty serious when they were showing up at each other’s concerts and with each other at the VMAs. So, we wanted a happy ending for them.

Though, it does seem like she has a reasonable degree of latitude in the content she decides to post.
I think she’s done a good job lately, (especially with the most recent one about country quotes.)
While I would still disagree with the overall “thrust” of CMT, I suppose I have to give them credit for attempting to foster a community atmosphere by throwing Alison “to the dogs” so to speak by opening up her blogs to comments.
Besides…to get a good feel for your customers, it’s easier to read a small selection of blog comments than it is to conduct a survey. From my observations…we have a full spectrum of country fans here. It’s an all around good thing for the CMT guys to have…(a paid blogger.)

Joe hasn’t shown any respect or concern for her as a person…he’s just concerned about how the publicity is affecting him! His “heart” has “moved on”….well he may understand heartbreak better when his fans take their money and move on past his CDs and concerts! Camilla is sophisticated, genuine and kind; she seems to be the only one acting appropriately about this. She is also a little less than 3 years older than him. That’s not such a dynamic age gap even at their age. It’s perfectly acceptable. Taylor is the one acting rather childish, she might have a broken heart but she’s certainly not taking it appropriately. The low-class, off-hand comments she’s making have her seem like she’s scorned, bitter and a bit ridiculous. These are the sorts of things she should be saying to her friends not her fans.

Let me start out by saying that I am neither a Taylor nor a Jonas Bros. fan, however the mudslinging has gone on for too long. First of all they are so young they don’t know what it means to be in a real committed relationship. Of course that doesn’t mean that they don’t really feel something true, but lets face it anyone who is “older and wiser” will tell you that there is a big difference in the love of teenagers and that of an adult relationship. As we know, the purpose of dating is finding that one person you feel you want to (and can) spend the rest of your life with. When it comes down to it (and I know I’m going to catch a lot of heat for this one), it just seems that all Taylor knows about or can sing about is being hurt by a guy (Yes, I am a country fan and I know that is what most songs are about). Yes she is young, but if she wants a career that is going to last she has got to learn to sing about more than just a cheatin’ guy. I am hoping that with age will come maturity, and not just more songs of how he hurt you so you are gonna not only get even, but get one up.

Personally, I don’t see why everyone is so worked up over this. Taylor only broadcasted it when she was asked a question during an interview. What I don’t understand is why people are attacking her for talking about her personal life and writing songs about it. That’s what Taylor does. Did anyone complain when she talked about Drew or Sam (the boy who cheated on her)? No. Just because Joe is a public figure and people know him doesn’t mean we should start changing our standards and expecting her to shut up.
