Dierks Bentley Previews New Album at Bonfire Party
Dierks Bentley is finally done with his new album and he played it for about a hundred people last night at a bonfire party at his hilltop property near Nashville. I've always liked Dierks, but I have to admit the current single ("Feel That Fire") hasn't grown on me yet. However, I was immediately drawn into the album as a whole. Even though most people were milling about, I hunkered down on a hay bale and listened to the record as closely as I could, and when they started playing it again, I went back to the haybale and listened some more. For one thing, it's almost all uptempo ... and kind of frisky. In one song, he says that even though his lover is wide awake, he wants to make her close her eyes. Yowza! I get the feeling he was in an extremely good mood when he recorded it.
Dierks and his wife bought the 80-acre property near Leiper's Fork, Tenn., and they hope to build a house up there someday. (He told the radio people in the crowd that the land is not quite paid for, so heavy rotation is always appreciated.) But in the meantime, you can't go wrong with some barbecue and a beer up there, gazing out on the lights in the valley. On the way out, we all took home a sweatshirt, as well as a small bag of biscuits and Bentley Berry jam (my breakfast this morning). In the midst of CMA madness, I was grateful for the chance to escape for an evening, and also relieved to know there's new music to look forward to in February, when I'm still thawing out from a long winter.

really cool, I agree. He obviously trusts his fans a lot to let them know where he lives.
I seriously hope the album is better than the single! the single isn’t that great, I agree. but, he’s always worth the wait.

That’s an awesome way to do an album preview– I’d love to get to do something like that someday.
I’ll admit that his current single hasn’t really tickled my ears either, but I’m excited to hear the whole album. I own each of his other albums and I haven’t been disappointed yet.
