Country Music Is Good for the Heart ... Duh
In a study that confirms what many have suspected for quite some time, the director of preventative cardiology at the University of Maryland has shown that listening to country music is good for you. The theory is that listening to music that makes you feel good, especially country, can cause the blood vessels in your arm to dilate, increasing blood flow to the heart. In contrast, listening to music that makes you anxious (anything that gets you pumped up, I'll bet) has the opposite effect. Makes sense to me. Country has always been a good stress reliever, in my opinion. I just wonder why it took science so long to figure that out. Not exactly being a very health-conscious type of person, at least now I can say that I'm doing something good for myself every day. I think the prescription for today will be a little Dwight Yoakam and then some Buck Owens, followed by a big serving of the CMA Awards. Doctor's orders, you know.

RedMaZ says:
I’ll need to pass on the cma awards, but Dwight and buck sound good. Then maybe some Dale Watson and The Derailers.
King says:
Hahaha Yes! Throw in Br5-49’s first record and you’ll be as healthy as a horse.
How about next year.. Dwight Yoakam at Tootsies? Now, that would be something to get excited about.
RedMaZ says:
Yes King. Then jump into some Heybale!, and James Hand. I’m feeling better already.
King says:
RedMaZ.. where you from, man? You know your stuff. By the way.. a rumor is going around that Gary Bennett of Br5-49 is putting together a band for some lower Broadway shows in December or January.. maybe it’s possible that live country music in Nashville isn’t really dying.
RedMaZ says:
Hi King, and thanks. As do you(know your stuff). I’m big time into the Americana/Roots Country scene. From my understanding, Nashville still has it’s share of great Country music. I know Jim Lauderdale is still keeping it real, and I’ve heard East Nashville is the happening place now. Nothing like Austin though.
King says:
Ya.. I’m diggin Jesse Dayton.. and I have just picked up that live Dale Watson record.. great stuff.
RedMaZ says:
Big fan of Jesse Dayton too. Have you heard his duet CD with Brennen Leigh?
