Music City Madness Contestants Narrowed to 16

Music City MadnessIt's on to the Sweet 16! How sweet it is for the remaining Music City Madness contestants still in the competition. Your votes continue to pour in at record rates, with more than two million votes tallied in Round 2, making the matchups more exciting than ever.

Advancing to the Sweet 16 are two veterans of the Music City Madness game as Toby Bradley and Dustin Clark prevailed in their matchups. Last year Bradley knocked off Clark in the second round before moving on to the Final Four. This year, if Clark is to exact revenge, it will come in the championship round as they are on opposite sides of the bracket.

Music City Madness also says goodbye to three veterans from 2006 and 2007. Danny Hamilton and Jon Miller bested their 2006 efforts, but their runs come to an end in the Field of 32, while Daniel Hobbs is eliminated one round earlier than last year.

Two intriguing matchups this week that I'll be watching come from the right side of the bracket: In the top right, it's the classic "American Dream" versus "My Hometown," as Michael Allen Magliulo battles Randall Morris. In the bottom right, Kayleigh C. Jack puts her "Stuffed Animals" up against William Aaron Tracy's "A Reason to Believe."

Keep those votes coming in so your favorite isn't left behind. Log on to madness.cmt.com and click on your selection. See you next week when it'll be down to the Elite Eight!

It’s too bad that CMT allowed cheating on this contest. It’s not a fair contest and some of these artists only made it through with the use of auto-voting programs.

This was never a talent-contest, only a popularity contest. CMT dropped the ball by allowing auto-voting programs.

Why in the world did CMT shut down the voting for Round 3 early. Randall Morris was just on the edge of winning and then the voting stops! We all had large computer groups of fans sitting and doing nothing but voting, and voting hard. You see we’re from a rural community where most the homes have dial up only. That made the voting process very slow and tediuous. Allowing the fans a chance to vote on high speed was a great opportunity and last minute strategy. We really don’t believe that this was a fair contest. You may say that everyone had the same amount of voting time. But, some people work up strategies based on the contest’s time allotment. Sometimes, that’s the only way to beat out those who are using vox voting programs/systems. We would really like to know what your reasoning was.
