Fans Predict the Winners of the CMA Awards
The 43rd annual CMA Awards are almost here -- airing Wednesday (Nov. 12) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. After the nominees were announced in September, CMT asked fans in a poll who they thought would win. The results are back and sounded eerily familiar to me. Kenny Chesney was picked as the likely winner of the coveted entertainer of the year award as well as male vocalist, while Carrie Underwood is thought to come away as the female vocalist of the year while also winning album of the year for Carnival Ride. Song of the year honors are expected to go to George Strait's "I Saw God Today" (written by Rodney Clawson, Monty Criswell and Wade Kirby). Interestingly, fans last year correctly picked Chesney to win entertainer of the year, Underwood to win female vocalist and Strait to win album of the year. Considering the success the trio has had this year, and the recent track record of the CMT poll, does this mean they are a shoe-in for Wednesday's show? Let us know what you think.

Katie says:
I do think Kenny will win again. He is well deserving of it.
rebel yell says:
Good Luck Miss Maranda Lambert…
jan says:
Good luck carrie, george, miranda, kenny and trace atkins!!
casey says:
The whole awards things is so pathetic. You don’t have to watch the show to know who the winners are going to be. I bet I can name 95% of the winners now already. Why even bother having the nomination process, just hand the award to the person who will get it anyway. What a farce!
kayko says:
I do wish them all good luck, but if it’s going to be the same winners year after year what’s the reason to watch. It gets boring after awhile.
Kellianne says:
Personally, I think that for other nominee’s such as those in the group awards that it should go to Little Big Town, I’m rooting for them. Don’t get me wrong I love Rascal Flatts though I think 5 years of getting the title of Group of the Year is enough. As for female vocalists, I’m a huge, huge fan of Taylor Swift authough chances for her winning looks slim a win for her being up with the big girls this year would be astonishing!
This year I’m definatley rooting for Little Big Town for group, I’m actually happy that I’m more into than I was last year due to the fact I was really inactive on here and didn’t get as many updates :)
KAREN K says:
I think that the poll got it right as far as Kenny and Carrie but I am also hoping that Sugarland will have a chance too!! As far as “song of the year” I am still partial to the heartwrenching song “Stay” as was the ACM voters and for video of the year I would like to see Brad Paisleys “Waiting on a Woman” receive that honor because Andy Griffith came out of retirement to appear in that video which was also heartwrenching IMO! Otherwise Good Luck to all who were nominated and only by watching on Nov. 12 will the winners be revealed I mean we can only guess so much but thats all!!! Also I, too would love to see Little Big Town win because they are all so talented and they have fought so hard to get where they are After seven years its time for some good luck for them!!!!
Kevin says:
I wouldnt be surprised if thats how it turns out. Id like to see Keith Urban win EOTY. I dont think anybody that has seen his live show could saw that he is not a GREAT entertainer. I saw Keith and Kenny together this summer and IMO Kenny was a little bit of a let down after Keith’s exciting performance. Not bashing Kenny, but I think Keith is a little better.
Female Vocalist- From what Ive seen in live shows, my pick for female vocalist would have to be Martina Mcbride. Her voice is just soo powerful in her live performances. Ive never heard her sound anything but amazing. However, I dont expect her to win. If I had to bet on it, I would say Carrie Underwood will probably be the winner. Since I dont think Martina will win…I really really hope Miranda Lambert somehow wins this category. I think she has a great sound to her voice.
Male Vocalist- To me this category should be a toss-up between Alan Jackson and George Strait. Keith has a unique sound to his voice, and I enjoy it but dont know if its vocalist of the year worthy. Brad Paisley has a nice voice as well but I dont think it outdoes Alan and George. But Brad is my personal favorite out of the group. I think Kenny’s voice is ok but nothing really great.
New Artist- I dont consider Jason Aldean a new artist, but he is nominated so I think he should be the winner of this category. His first 2 albums IMO have been very strong. Not just the singles but every song. Rodney Atkins isnt really that new either, and I think he has an outside chance to win this category. Lady A is a very good group, and I think they have a slight chance to win this. But, if they dont win it this year and continue what they have going right now, I look for them to win this award next year. Kellie Pickler has a chance just because she is Kellie Pickler. This one could really go to anybody.
Vocal Group- Id say that Rascal Flatts will probably win it. I dont think the Eagles should be nominated for CMA’s. Not yet anyway. Im not very familiar with Emerson Drive. I dont think they have much of a chance this year. Lady A again is a good group but not at the level of vocal group of the year yet. Little Big Town is good, but dont do anything for me personally. I think their songs are too cluttered and too drawn out. Thats just me though.
Vocal Duo- I kind of look for Sugarland to win this one. I think they deserve it. But of course you can never count out Brooks and Dunn. They are still sounding great after all these years. Big and Rich havent done alot lately. Montgomery Gentry are a good duo, but im not sure they can compete this year. The Wreckers…well they should not be nominated at all. They are not together and havent been for a looong time now. I dont understand that one.
Single Of The Year- I would love to see Miranda Lambert win, but I think it will be between George, Kenny and Sugarland. Just for the sake of picking one…Im gonna say that Sugarland will win with Stay.
Album Of The Year- I havent heard every one of these albums so Im not sure. I think Carnival Ride is probably the favorite just because Carrie is so popular right now. My vote would go to Good Time. I have heard it and its very good. Kenny’s album was good but not his strongest IMO. I wish Miranda Lambert would have been nominated in this category. Her Crazy Ex-Girlfriend album is very good.
Song Of The Year- In my opinion Letter To Me should win this category. They are all good so we’ll see.
Musical Event- This is a strong category this year. All of the nominees are very good songs. I look for “Shiftwork” to win. I think “Another Try” has an outside chance. As well as Life In a Northern Town.
Video Of The Year- My vote would go to Waitin On A Woman. It is a great song and great video. Especially since it includes Andy Griffith. Also Brad is very funny at the beginning when he is waitin on the woman. “Stay” has a chance because of its simple approach. “Good Time” has a chance because of the fun nature of the video.
Musician- My pick goes to Brad Paisley. Ohh, he’s not nominated…well Ill go with Brent Mason.
DIAMOND says:
I HOPE TAYLOR SWIFT WILL WIN AND SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN UP FOR ALOT MORE NOMINATIONS, BUT I THINK IT WILL BE FIXED SO THE PERSON THAT WON LAST IS CO HOST OF THE SHOW IAM SURE THE GIVE IT TO HER, BUT I WOULD LIKE TAYLOR TO WIN SHE DESERVES IT!!!!GO KENNY AND KEITH!!!TO BAD TIM MCGRAW WAS NOT NOMINATED
Tom says:
Although I hope Taylor wins too. I can not honestly believe it will be “fixed” Carrie Underwood is still on an amazing streak of hit singles. I think Kenny Chesney will win entertainer although I think Brad Paisely deserves it more becase his guitar skills are very entertaining. It’s kind of funny my favorites are the ones who tend to not win many awards. Such as Montgomery Gentry, Toby Keith, and Trace Adkins.
Michael says:
I will not be watching the show, I think Reba should have been nominated for Top Female. So many people agree, the CMA’s are getting really boring! But I vote for Miranda Lambert to win Top Female and Sugarland for Entertainer. I am so bored with Carrie Underwood, next please.
Cory says:
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. If I hear these two names one more time I’ll scream!!! Granted they have done well for themselves at such a young age, but honestly what is the big deal with these two? Sorry to all you fans out there, but I’m not 12 years old so they don’t impress me very much! Martina Mcbride is FEMALE VOCALIST of the year and should have been nominated in a few other catagories as well! She is far more more talented than the other’s not to mention the fact she sings like an angel! If she was 18 and 24 or 25 people would be talking non stop about her. By the way, how come Reba Mcentire isn’t nominated for anything this year? If she’s not the queen of country music, I don’t know who is! If either one of these ”young ladies” win then I will know along with millions others that this show is fixed and a complete farce!!! Go MARTINA Go!!!
Sami says:
I would love to see Martina win, however, I have to be honest and say that Carrie should win. She has had hit after hit and has worked hard all year—-more than any other female artist out there. Her album should also win because of the many hits (some co-written). I think the awards should be given because of hard work and achievement rather than popularity. Good luck to all the artists!!!!
vp says:
Carrie may be the popular vote know and the past two years but she is so much more than that. When critics tell Celine Dion to watch out, say she is the new generation of Martina, Faith and Reba,, that we haven’t heard vocals like this in years, those are real compliments. It is undeniable what she has accomplished in such a short time, records that she has broken that probably won’t get broken, can you say first 8 releases all gone #1 that has never happened in any genre in the history of music. And if you have been to a concert of hers sure she has room to grow, but she has only been doingthis for two years, and the audience is not all kids sure there are some but the main is like 23 - 50, couples families and friends, country fans, pop fans, celebrities and AI fans. where as when TS headlines next year the only people in the audience that will of voted in this year election will be the parents who drove or took their children there, can you say Disney concert.
Sherrie says:
I agree with Kevin on EOTY! Keith is just outstanding. None of the others even come close…IMO! Hope Carrie or Martina wins Female Vocalist. Sugarland’s STAY deserves an award. When she first performed that song on one of the award shows it sent chills over me it was so good!
Robin says:
Funny how all these people hating on Carrie or even Taylor by saying they are tired of them being “the one’s” are ignoring that Kenny is the one that is truely over pushed and too out there.
Why not tired of these guys that get all the attention? A bunch of jealous little girls that don’t like it when pretty women are successful. So, irritating.
As for Martina. She’s an awesome singer, but has not done that much this year across the board. She had a good tour, but an album flop and nothing at radio doesn’t lead to winning this kind of award.
vp says:
I agree with Robin Kenny is the most over played, over rated, country artist out there. I change the station everytime he comes on. As for Carrie being all about herself ALEX, obviously you don’t know much about her, she is the most selfless person out there, always appreciative of what she has and how she got it. She is always thanking her fans and everyone surrounding her and the country music industry for accepting her. If you youtube some of her speeches or interviews you would know.
marie says:
my favorite artists is nominated a few times, but i know they will not win a thing, because of the “fixed” awards that CMA has become. i can’t even enjoy the show knowing that. most of my friends and family will not watch for that reason. i will not sit through 3 hours of crap for one performance from my favorite
vp says:
First of all I don’t have a band of Carrie lovers, I am merely a fan speaking for myself, and if you were slamming BP or RS or ML or ST or PL or RM, I would be equally upset. Second I wouldn’t even know how to go about getting a post removed so look in another direction.
Third you must not of taken my suggestion on looking up on some past Carrie comments, interviews, and acceptance speaches.
rebel yell says:
GOOD LUCK MR. KEITH URBAN. Your songs are really really so GOOD. I think you are one of the greatest guitar players in country music. I really want to see you live in concert. Thanks for being YOU.
George says:
George Strait entertainer of the year!
Maureen McCole says:
George Strait - EOTY,Album of the Year, Single/Song of the Year. All the way—this man is superb.
Val says:
Is anyone else having trouble hearing the vocals over the music? Seems the mics need to be adjusted so that the bands don’t drown out the vocals.
Jennifer says:
Yes we are not able to hear it on channel 7.
