Sugarland Maintains Fandom

Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 4:33 pm  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

It sounds like Kristian Bush knows a lot about Sugarland's fans because he's such a music fan himself. "You have to be a fan. You need to engage in fandom." That's what Bush told a journalist about how he ignites his audience. This is my favorite quote from the story, because it sums up so precisely what I love about so much of Sugarland's music: "What you're really exchanging with people is the discovery of something. I know that when I get a new record, I'm up and down the hallways backstage going, 'Hey guys, have you heard this?'" Sugarland even turned their love for fellow artist Steve Earle ("I'm an absolutely stupid fan," Bush admits) into a song. And even if you aren't a fan of Earle yourself, the song is insanely addictive. Listen to Sugarland's album, Love on the Inside, including "Steve Earle," on Rhapsody.

I have a feeling if Steve wrote a song about them, it wouldn’t be at all flattering. Be careful of what you wish for.

You never know.. Steve might like Sugarland

  • RedMaZ says:

Do you listen to Steve Earle’s music?

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 8:54 pm

I have listened to his music. Im not saying that he does like sugarland…. im just saying that he might. Unless you are him or you can read his mind, you dont know if he does or not.

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

Do you know what Steve Earle stands for? Do you know his stance on current issues? Have you ever read the lyrics to his songs?

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

so you are telling me that it is 100% fact that he dislikes sugarland?

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

Ive heard some of his music.. i dont know his exact stance on anything. That has no bearing on the point im trying to make. Neither you nor I know for SURE exactly what he thinks of Sugarland

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

If you knew anything about Earle. You’d know the answer.

what questions.. i answered your irrelevant questions already. Unless you are steve earle or you have heard him say that he doesnt like sugarland…. then YOU DONT KNOW IF HE DOES OR NOT.

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

He doesn’t even waste his time listening to Sugarland.

  • smoke and no fire says:

    There you go again RedMaZ…

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:13 pm

is he quoted somewhere saying “I Steve Earle do not like Sugarland?” or did you hear him say those words? Or can you read his mind? you dont know what specific things he likes or doesnt like.

  • luvncountry says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:20 pm

RedMa is clairvoyant, she can read minds, she knows what EVERYone likes and listens to and thinks, and that includes Steve Earle, whoever the he** that is. Now give it up! Altho reading these hook & bait posts IS pretty entertaining.

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

I’ve been following Earle’s music and career for over 20 years. If you choose to do any research about him, you may learn where he stands on these type of issues.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:36 pm

this isnt about “these type of issues” this is about Sugarland and the fact that you do not know for a fact whether he likes Sugarland or if he doesnt like Sugarland. I never said he does like them. I just said that you dont know

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:38 pm

Man…you are thick. You just flat out don’t get it.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:42 pm

clearly you dont get it. Unless steve earle said to your face “I dont like Sugarland” then you cannot possibly be 100% sure that he doesnt.

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:43 pm

Like I said, if you’re that interested. Do some research.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:51 pm

All the research in the world wouldnt tell me whether he likes Sugarland or not unless he is directly quoted as saying “I do not like Sugarland”

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 11:57 pm

Then you better start your research.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 12:01 am

If he is quoted as saying “I dont like Sugarland” then you just tell me where and ill go straight there and read it and then ill tell you that you are right.

  • Rosie says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 7:42 am

It’s not like Steve Earle is going to hunt them down and kill them. The song is a joke, not intended to be on the CD. And im sure steve earle knows he had abunch of wives. and stuff like that. If he had a problem about it, dont you think it would be publicized or somethin.

  • CJ says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 11:15 am

Sugarland is great! I love there music. Who cares about Steve Earle.

  • RedMaZ says:

I agree Leah. These blogs are for entertainment purposes.

  • MiaT says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 7:51 pm

Another reason I Love Sugarland. I am sure Steve Earle is getting a kick out that song.

Lighten up out there people…Music is for entertainment purposes only!

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 7:55 pm

Steve Earle refused to listen to it.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 8:20 pm

How do you know that he refused to listen to it?

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 8:47 pm

Here we go again. Because I do research, and I’ve been following Earle’s music and career since 1986. Nettles’ quote…”We gave it (the song) to his manager obviously out of respect to say, this is what we’ve done, what do you think? Steve said, “people write books about me. I have articles written about me, and I don’t read those. “I don’t want to hear a song written about me”. This was reported in the Los Angeles Times.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:10 pm

doesnt say for sure that he hasnt listened to it

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:14 pm

“I don’t want to hear a song written about me” - Steve Earle

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:22 pm

yeah.. i got that. That still doesnt say for sure that he hasnt listened to it when nobody was around

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Yeah that’s it! Speaking of nobody around…

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:40 pm

again.. im not saying he did listen to it or that he wants to listen to it or he likes sugarland or he doesnt like sugarland. My only point is that you do not know for sure what he thinks or does

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:46 pm

I’m not sure what your problem is, but I bet it’s hard to pronounce.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 5th, 2008 at 9:54 pm

I dont have a problem. True or False… You do not know for SURE 100% that Steve Earle likes or disliked Sugarland?

True or False…. You cannot say for SURE that Steve Earle has or has not listened to the song about him by Sugarland?

why is it so hard for you to just admit that you dont know something

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 6th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

It seems I underestimated your desire to learn about Steve Earle. With that being said, I will be introducing a new series on the life and times of Steve. This will be a 12 part documentary on him which will be called “Check Your Earle”. I will begin with his birthdate…Jan.17, 1955. My next installment in this series could come at any time so check back often, and don’t forget to share this with your friends!

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 6th, 2008 at 7:33 pm

it seems that you are mistaken. All i want is for you to admit that you cannot possibly say for sure, with 100% certainty that Steve Earle likes or disliked Sugarland. And you cannot possibly say for sure, with 100% certainty that Steve Earle has or has not listened to the song about him by Sugarland. There is no shame in admitting that you dont know for sure. Nobody does except Steve himself.

  • RedMaZ says:

    Posted: November 7th, 2008 at 9:21 am

Steve was born in Fort Monroe, Va., but grew up in Schertz, Texas. My next installment in this series could come at any time, so check back often, and don’t forget to share this with your friends!

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 7th, 2008 at 12:06 pm

Lets skip ahead to the poin in steve’s life when he told you to your face…”I do not like Sugarland” or “RedMaz, I have not listened to Sugarlands song about me, i swear” OHHHHH, thats right, that never happened, which means that you dont know whether he likes Sugarland or not or if he has listened to the song or not. Just admit it.

  • luvncountry says:

    Posted: November 8th, 2008 at 12:23 am

Let’s skip ahead to a point where you give up on getting the answer you want from RedMaz because it will NEVER come to your satisfaction. Who really gives a rip if Steve whatsisname likes Sugarland anyway? It is not life-or-death.

  • someone who knows says:

    Posted: November 8th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

Steve Earle has all Sugarland’s albums. He’s their number one fan.

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 8th, 2008 at 3:01 pm

No, I wont give up. RedMaz thinks they are better than everybody here and that they can intimidate people with his/her self proclaimed musical knowledge, and that people will back down just because he/she answers with everything but what he/she knows is true. Well I wont back down. RedMaz is nothing to me. I have no respect for him/her, and never will.

  • RedMaZ says:

Steve has a sister named Stacey. She is also a singer songwriter.

  • luvncountry says:

    Posted: November 8th, 2008 at 5:42 pm

I think RedMaz is under the (false) impression that anyone on this blog CARES about Steve and if he has a sister, brother, mother, whatever…but hey, whatever floats your boat. And yessir, I sure hope your brains don’t fall out from banging them on a brick wall, because with RedMaz that’s pretty much what you’re doing. Mine are thankfully still intact because I gave up awhile back.

Now… on to other matters of Sugarland. I think they are HERE TO STAY, no flash-in-the-pan duo here. I love their sound and her voice. I blast ‘em in my car windows down!

Have GREAT day, and don’t forget that EXTRA-strength Excedrin for the headache. lol Gotta love it!

  • yessir says:

    Posted: November 8th, 2008 at 8:17 pm

ill keep checking back often.. maybe in about 10 years or so you will admit that you cant read Steve Earles mind. I find it pretty ridiculous that you wont just admit it. Its ok to say you cant read his mind, I cant either. Dont be scared.

  • luvncountry says:
