Michael Jackson Attends Dixie Chick's Halloween Party

Posted: November 4th, 2008 at 3:34 pm  |  By: Calvin Gilbert

Natalie MainesWhat if you threw a party and Michael Jackson showed up? That's what happened to Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks during the Halloween bash she hosted last weekend. She told the story Monday (Nov. 3) on Howard Stern's morning show on Sirius Satellite radio. Maines said, "A couple of people went up to him and told him he had the greatest Michael Jackson costume ever." Apparently, the disc jockey for the party at Maines' California home assumed it was a Jacko impersonator, too, and started spinning "Thriller" when he walked through the room. Jackson came to Maines' party with the wife of the late actor Gregory Peck, one of Jackson's longtime friends. Maines said Jackson brought all three of his children to her party and noted that the eldest, in particular, seemed to be "well-adjusted" and "self-assured." Maines flew to New York to appear on Stern's show for the opportunity to meet a guy known as Eric the Midget, who frequently phones the King of All Media to offer his opinions and lodge his complaints about a wide variety of topics. It was Eric's first time to actually be in the studio with Stern and his crew.

Why does this not surprise me to hear Natalie Maines, Michael Jackson, and Howard Stern’ names together?? lol

What if you were calvin gilbert and you knew that a certain artist you’re reporting on has a name but you continue to refer to him to a name that a stupid tabloid magazine came up with when his name is JACKSON not “jacko”? Well that’s what has happened here.

Gee, I certainly didn’t intend to offend any Michael Jackson fans. At least I didn’t use the adjective that usually goes before the the word that some find objectionable.

Don’t worry Calvin, some MJ fans are simply over hyper über sensitive. Your post was fine. Nice to hear about MJ going out and having fun.

It alright Calvin. We fans just think anyone who calls Michael Jackson “Jacko” is still kind of plugging that negative nickname “wacko jacko”. We’d just rather see people refer to him by his real name like all the other celeb’s.
Overall, good report though! Its funny, I bet those people who commented on his costume feel super stupid now :)

Natalie Maines is great. She’s beautiful, talented, a great singer, a true patriot, and all true Americans love her for standing up in a time of tyranny. God bless the Dixie Chicks - all of ‘em.

Michael Jackson is talented, of course, but there are some big problems there, as we all know. It’s sad.

Howard Stern and Robin Quivers are hilarious. I love when they read the news.

So because I don’t like her for what she did, does that disqualify me as a “true American”? And what tyranny? if there was tyranny in this country she would be jailed for what she did. all she lost was popularity. that’s her own fault; she shot her mouth off, so the public used their freedom of speech and action and stopped supporting her. That freedom of speech door swings both ways and it really hit her in the ass. hard.

  • Kevin says:

I think part of her losing that popularity is because alot of people didnt even really know the story of what happened and it just became the trendy thing to do to hate the Dixie Chicks. I dont think they deserved to be treated the way they were. They are an excellent group

Care to share what the rest of that story is, Kevin? I think i heard it all, and I didn’t like what they did.

Hysterical story! Can you imagine if Michael Jackson randomly showed up at your Halloween party? Thanks for sharing!

Love the Dixie Chicks and Natalie in particular.

Im not saying that people didnt have the right to be upset with them. It is just my opinion that SOME people decided to hate them just because they thought it was the thing to do at the time. And no matter what they did, they are still a very talented group, and now country radio is missing out on what they have to offer.

I just want to point out there is a bunch of people going on and on every time Taylor Swift is in a blog about her being “pop”(which i do not agree with),using that as a reason to not have her on cmt. And here we have the king of pop being praised to no end. No one has even questioned why this is on CMT.com.

natalie talks trash on bush, like a lot of americans do.

natalie points out michaels odd child-like behavior, like a lot of americans do.

she seems like a typical american who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. i personally believe in the 1st amendment, which allows you to say how you feel about the president whether you are in america or overseas. but hey, thats just me.

I love the Chicks. It makes me sick at what happened to them. There are plenty of artists who have done way worse, everyone seems to forgive them. I have all of their CD’s but their last one was awesome. I guess that’s why it won every Grammy it was nominated for that year. I watched the documentary they made on the whole ordeal and it was shameful. I understand if you didn’t like their comments but they did not deserve to have their lives threatened or their families. The crazy thing is if they would’ve made those comments today I don’t think it would’ve been such a big deal. I wish them the best and I’ll always be a huge fan!!!!!

Rosebud, I didn’t have a prob with Natalie saying what she did because I’m not a Bush voter/supporter and frankly, I’ve read worse on newspaper blogs about him. The issue I had with the chicks was over the Toby Keith brouhaha. I didn’t think they should knock his comment about his America song and kicking a$$ when the Chicks made light of killing Earl and domestic abuse. One was no better or worse than the other and I thought they made too big of deal about it.

That said, I have NO idea why Michael Jackson has much to do with a country blog, but then it’s open season I guess and anyone is allowed- even Kid Rock (yuck!) I like MJ’s music for the most part and try not to judge him as a person (or any artist/celeb) because I know only what the media feeds us, but I agree pretty much with Tommy. Natalie didn’t say anything more offensive than others have, but perhaps because she IS in the public eye is what didn’t set right.

the King of Pop, look for a red pleather jacket, sequined glove, dark glasses, and other recognizable accessories.
    The “Bad” Black Jacket Look”

Another recognizable Michael Jackson look is the black jacket ensemble he wore in the “Bad” video. This military style jacket was adorned with large gold badges a gold shoulder epaulets, along with a gold belt with “Bad” written on the buckle in the style of the “Bad” album. Jackson wore a similar version of this military style jacket to the White House in 1984 with a gold sash (see below).
