Little Ones Join Carrie Underwood Onstage in Tulsa

Posted: October 30th, 2008 at 10:18 am  |  By: Alison Bonaguro

Carrie Underwood Artist PageEvery artist loves their hometown crowd. And at her Wednesday night show in Tulsa, Carrie Underwood proved she really loved hers. Despite the showy show, eight-piece band and multiple costume changes, the small-town girl brought some of her littlest family members up onto the stage to show the packed house what really matters to her. First she plucked her cousin from the audience to sing along on "All-American Girl." Then her nephew joined her on stage for "The More Boys I Meet." She may not be in Checotah anymore, but it looks like Underwood still remembers her roots and still puts family first.

carrie’s really proud of where she came from she really loves oklahoma. that is why carrie stays so down to earth she’s a super country star but she just acts like carrie and i hope she always stays like herself. i think that carrie is a true artist and doesn’t pretend to be anybody but herself she knows who she is and she’s such a great role model. i know carrie’s going to win big at the cma’a and ama’s, and i cant wait to see her host she’s my favorite country artist and in my opinion theres no one like carrie she is unique and super talented she can sing whatever song in the world and it sounds beautifull!!!….because of carrie i love country…never thought i would ever but she opened my interest to this genre…best of luck carrie you deserve to win!!

I have seen Carrie a few times but never could picture her doing something like this. I know on AI she said Martina was her role model and this pulling kids up onstage trick seems like something Martina would do, so maybe Carrie really is trying to become more like the women who have carried the torch for so long.

“Carnival Ride II” Hometown crowd - sold out crowd of 18,000 (no confirmation yet from the final gross sales). Just from the review of one of the fans. Here in Western Washington, at Puyallup Fair on September 19, 2008, it was a sold out crowd of 10,368. Carrie got 100 percent sold out crowd in Canada ranging from 7,600 to 9,000. Sold out crowd in majority of cities here in USA except in cities where Carrie toured twice. Looking “GREAT”, SO FAR!!!

Carrie is such a sweetheart and I could see her doing this after all she was once a small “All-American Girl” herself living the all american dream–going to college, working her way up the ladder!!! More power to Carrie to set an example for young girls–out of all the newer country females Carrie is the one that I want my three daughters to follow in her footsteps and so far all three of them love Carrie and two of them are in college pursuing their dreams!!!

That’s what kind of person Carrie is. It is awesome she stays true to her roots even with her fame. She is my favorite singer by far. I know that’s a little odd for a guy, but I have followed her career closely since she started. I hope she wins Album of the Year with CR. That would be awesome, but she has some stiff competition. She deserves it though. GO CARRIE!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!

    Thanks, Allison -

This is a great blog topic.

We saw her bring up a little girl in Detroit and I have to say it was the cutest thing. The whole crowd was really into it. Also, it is worth checking out the videos of Carrie’s “All American Girls” (She has done this in each of her concerts since Sept). They are all fabulous and Carrie is really cute with them. Her assistant, Matt, picks the little girl out of the audience.

I hope she keeps staying true to her roots. But if she gets any cuter its going to be saccharine.
I wonder if the CMAs dare give her many more awards this year. She deserves an award, yeah, but she’s been dominating since she got here. I think, as good as she is, that we have to see someone else this year, there are other just as deserving nominees.

BigMouth– no one but Carrie deserves Female Vocalist this year. I am not saying this as a blinded Carrie fan- but by looking at all the criteria for this award objectively. Carrie had 4 number 1 hits this year, more then any other female. She had a huge sold out tour that was very successful. she also is about to go 3x platinum on her album sales. So tell me who did better then her? No one. Also— taylor may have strong album sales, but she cannot sing, and this is a vocalist related award, so I would be shocked if they gave it to someone who can’t hold a note to save her life. Miranda did well this year and I love her- but she didn’t match Carrie’s success, or her vocals. Martina is great, but she didn’t do much this year. So Carrie deserves the win.

Allison- thanx for this blog. Carrie is so great to her fans -especially the little ones. She brings a little girl on stage at every show now, for All American girl. And she also brings a little boy up for The More Boys I meet. So cute.

I Disagree with you Michael, but here’s not the place to get into it.
Why bring a little boy on stage for the more boys I meet? that could be insulting. That could be telling some little boy that I don’t like you, I like my dog….??? I’ll have to find a video of that, I know she doesn’t mean it that way.
I’m off topic again…Its really hard to stay on one track for some reason!
Great blog Alison! Some news about a concert!

I also think Carrie deserves female vocalist of the year. She is a hard working young lady, not that others aren’t; but I think Carrie surpassed the rest. The girl is all over the place. Doing magazine shoots, charity events, Grand Old Opry, etc, AND TOURING. She’s great

Ok, fine. I thought this year was the year of sales/popularity aside. That was the justification they gave for not nominating Rascal Flatts for entertainer of the year. If the judge one category that way they have to do it to all of them. So, going on that standard, I think she can be beat.

I THINK IF YOU D’NOT LIKE HER YOU ARE LOST IN YOUR OWN MIND SO GET OFF OF HERE BIG MOUTHS I THINK SHE IS THE BEST OUT THERE RIGHT NOW THE NUMBER ONES SAW IT ALL SO SHHHH.

She should win FVOTY and should have been nominated for EOTY. There is no one else that deserves FVOTY over her. It is about who deserves to win not about who has won it before. Carrie Underwood deserves to win FVOTY.

The little boy during TMBIM was her nephew.

It was just announced this morning Carrie has had her 9th comsecutive number one hit starting with “Inside Your Heaven” off the AI stage then 4 more number one songs off the album “Some Hearts”. Then “Carnival Ride” was released 10/23/07 and Carrie has had 4 number one hits from it in just one year. Starting with “So Small” and “Just A Dream” is currently number one nationally!! I dont know of any other female vocalists that have had 9 straight number ones in three short years!! Carrie Rocks and deserves Female Vocalist of the Year!

Hey BIGMOUTH, the only reason she brought those two boys on stage was she was in her home town and it was her nephew who’d she’d only seen like once this year, and the other was a random thing she usually walks around and asks the women to point out prince charmings for her to coinside with the song just before she started to do that she noticed a little boy dressed in a tux and she wanted everyone to see. Otherwise she has not done it before.

I think bringing the young ladies on stage for All American Girl is a class act. Carrie is very good with them and I think it adds a special touch to the show. Talk about giving a young girl the thrill of a lifetime. I have a 9-year old granddaughter who is a big Carrie fan and would be thrilled to get to do something like this. I think the ladies nominated for the CMA Female Vocalist are all talented in their own right. If it truly is to represent the Top Female Vocalist then Carrie should definitely win it irregardless of how many times she’s won. Her voice is so rich and pure and her live performances are as good as her CD. Besides her chart success she is a great ambassador for county music and always represents it with class and dignity at every all genre music show she appears. Sounds like some pretty great credentials to me.
