Taylor Swift Serenades Phillies Fans
Sure, the Philadelphia Phillies were probably pretty nervous on Saturday night. It was Game 3 of the World Series, after all. But Taylor Swift was a little nervous, too. After the announcer asked fans to stand up and remove their hats, he introduced Swift as one of Pennsylvania's own. And then she started plucking her blinged-out acoustic guitar and singing the national anthem on the field of Citizens Bank Park. Afterwards, she admitted that while she was thrilled with the opportunity to sing for all those hometown baseball fans, her dad was the one who was so excited that he had sent her "like 18 text messages" that day.

CJ says:
So what is the point of this blog. I must have missed something. Who cares how many text messages she gets from her dad.
bkb says:
many country artists sing the National Anthem and is never mentioned in the news. this is getting to be too much.
RedMaZ says:
This isn’t the news. It’s an entry of commentary and/or a description of an event by Alison Bonaguro. A blog.

WHO CARES????????????????????????????????????????

Alison does keep track of Taylor Swift. I decided to do some ‘blog tracking’ of my own.
Alison’s October 2 blog - “Quick Get Some Highlights” was about blonde women in country music - used Taylor’s pic.
Alison’s October 9 blog - “Is Taylor Swift About To Write A New Song?”
Alison’s October 15 blog - “Taylor Swift Is Milking It”
Alison’s October 22 blog - “Taylor Swift Reveals Abigail The BFF”
Alison’s October 28 blog - “Taylor Swift Serenades Phillie Fans”
Of course I didn’t take the time to count how many other artists got more than one blog for the month of October except remembering it was a good month for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill here at CMT blogdom while I was clicking through.
Conclusion: If it was the newspaper industry of past times, we would say Taylor sure does get a lot of ink. But in these modern times, I guess I would say that Taylor gets a lot of key strokes.
Ham says:
^ well that’s enough to make ya barf.
Lulu says:
Have heard she sang The National Anthem in youtube … hmmm I dunno what to say… but appreciate for her efforts.
Racedriven says:
Alison thank you for posting this, I am a huge Taylor Swift fan and I like most articles that are published on Taylor. I watched Game 3 and Taylor singing the national anthem and I though she was perfect, I even blogged on it too.
To everyone else above, if you don’t car for Taylor, then dond’t comment and this to her fans, now I can’t wait for the CMA’s and AMA’s. See Yeah!
star says:
taylor sounded great she plays with her guitar because she VERY GOOD with and it is a little different than everyone else. the people that she met with to do the national anthem said to her they wanted something more country and quick.GO TAYLOR!!!!
S says:
As far as the number of text messages she received, that’s how teenagers base their popularity in this day and age. She might think it’s cool … I’m not impressed.
Nikki says:
Taylor Swift is amazing and to the comment that little miss Karen K and all the other losers who said taylor was bad- you are all jealous of her. Taylor Swift is an amazing singer and she plays guitar because that’s her passion nd it’s what she loves. I can totally relate because guitar and singing is my passion. She doesn’t care what she sounds like because she just sings because she loves to. She is beautiful and an amazing role model. SO karen k please leave her alone. Im not saying that in a mean way but I love Taylor and she is my role model im only in 7th grade and I want to follow in her footsteps. TAYLOR SWIFT ROCKS!
Vanessa says:
If you guys “don’t care” about this, and are way above it, why are you all taking the time to post comments? I don’t get it…..
Nikki says:
I know that’s what I’m saying I was just trying to stand up for Taylor.
Nikki says:
Haha yeah she sings better than me too
ROSEBUD says:
Nikki, I just saw your post after mine went up. It’s nice to see someone your age speaking on Taylor’s behalf. You said everything great. If Taylor is someone you look up to I think that’s great. Keep up with your singing and guitar playing. Maybe someday we’ll be hearing you on the radio. Good luck!!!!
Kim says:
Might have been the stadium. I go to games at rangers ballpark in Arlington, and anthem singers are always a little off in the stadium even when I know the person can sing. But you have to admit, Taylor is not the strongest vocalist out there. That might have been a reach vocally and mentally. Just one of those things that only experience can give her. Good effort though.
Wish Game 5 would happen!!! Go Rays! (only rooting for them because they’re the American Leaguers!)
Kim says:
I meant to say this above: Like Sheryl Crow at the last All Star Game; she wasn’t great in a stadium but we know she can sing. Josh Groban did good during the stretch with GBA. Depends on the person it seems.
ROSEBUD says:
Great point!!!
ROSEBUD says:
Nikki, I’m glad my comment helped. My dad taught himself how to play the guitar when he was 60 years old. He had always dreamed as a kid to be in a Bluegrass band. Now at 65 he plays and sings in a band and they are pretty good. Keep it up and remember you are never to old or to young to realize your dreams. Also, great advice from your mom!!1
PS The “great point” was directed at Kim’s comments.
Nikki says:
Thats’s great for your dad, that is a very encouraging story. your right your never too young or old to realize your dreams.Last year Taylor won the Horizon Award at the CMA’s and I hope that will be me someday. Maybe I might mention you in one of my songs: maybe when you hear me on the radio one day you might hear your name in the song!
ROSEBUD says:
That is really sweet!!!! My son is also in 7th grade. My dad bought him a guitar for Christmas a few years back but he’s not that interested in it. He is a total sports nut!!!! You know maybe I should take my own advice, I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar….
Nikki says:
You should I love to play
ROSEBUD says:
I think I will. Have a great night Nikki!!!
Nikki says:
You too! Good night!
Kim says:
Hey Nikki, I am a college student, and I never had very many friends in school either. Don’t worry about it! It was only til recently (I’m 19) that I started having good friends, the kind that stay around forever. you sound like a smart, ambitious person. Others will catch on soon enough. don’t give up, and don’t get down!

Is there a conversation going here between you guys
taylor sweft #1 fan says:
wow your a college student am only in high school am 17 years old
taylor sweft #1 fan says:
hello is anyone there
ROSEBUD says:
I’m still here!
Steph says:
Not a conversation exactly, just chatting with some one. Nothing wrong with that. Its a message board. Thats what its for.
Janet says:
Taylor is sweet and nice but soory country radio needs to get back playing real country music and some of the older ladies. Let’s hear some Patty Loveless(she has a great new album out), how about some Alison Krauss, Martina, Faith, Loretta Lynn, Trisha Yearwood.
There is more to country females than Carrie and Taylor. Sorry but all radio wants to cater to is the under 21-25 crowd. Give us some grit, some real country music that appeals to us that have been country fans for decades, we are still out there.
I wish Taylor the best but sorry as a person just over 50 Love Story and may of her songs do nothing for me, lets have some females on radio that have lived for a while and sing about the experiences of women over 25.
Nikki says:
Hey Kim I just read your comment to me and that makes me feel very good knowing that someone else knows how it feels to not have friends. I believe I will have friends one day just like you do.
Sherrie says:
I know what you mean Janet! Taylor maybe sweet and cute, but she is not a very good vocalist yet! She makes me hurt listening to her squeak in places. Her songs make someone my age want to turn off the radio. But I guess radio caters more to the younger generation now and that’s sad. As much as I was never that big a fan of Gretchen Wilson, I think I’d rather hear some of her songs than Taylor Swifts. I read where someone said they couldn’t count how many times Taylor slung her head during concerts and that head of hair going everywhere. I believe it was Nashville Kats column.
taylor sweft #1 fan says:
hi rosebud that’s a pretty name i love taylor sweft how about you
RedMaZ says:
Janet, by definition Pop Country is doing exactly what it’s supposed to be doing, playing the acts that appeal to the masses for profit. Thankfully Pop country only makes up about 10% of todays music being recorded. There is no need for me to listen to Pop radio. You mentioned Patty Loveless, Alison Krauss, and Loretta Lynn. They are Americana artists, I doubt they will ever be played on Pop radio again. (except for Alison) she makes the crossover to Pop, but it’s limited.

ROSEBUD says:
Hi #1 fan. To answer your question I do like Taylor. I think she has alot of talent and a long career ahead. I think I’m quite a bit older than you so I’m not quite the fan that you and Nikki are. I’m glad you two have Taylor to inspire you!!!
Janet I really like the female artists that you mentioned too! Where I live we have an awesome station that plays alot of the old stuff with the new. It’s weird you mentioned Patty because I’ve had one of her older songs stuck in my head all day. Not sure of the title, maybe “He hurt me bad in a real good way.” Anyway I remember when Patty was the hot new female artist on the scene. Does that mean I’m old?lol
